75A wouldn't jump start a diesel , there is more info in the manual.
If your car needs external charging and or jump starting (when it's being used regularly) it's a sure sign the battery or alternator is defective (or a fan belt)
You'd be better off spending the money on fixing the problem :smiley:

or you're just doing lots of short journeys and over time your battery has discharged a little.
it only takes a relatively small drop in power and / or voltage to not be enough to crank the engine over

Not sure such a skimpy thing will work as a jump starter with repeated tries? Maybe on a smallish petrol engine. I have a Clarke 4000 battery pack/jump starter - starts anything up to around 3 litre diesel. It's worth noting that some vehicles do need it to turn over a bit to start/repeated tries.

I have the Clarke too. it's awfully heavy and needs recharging every couple of months which if you forget like myself then battery drains in a couple of days. so pointless unless your a garage who uses it frequently.

I've never used something like this before and my car battery's gone flat. How does this work? Can it be charged up to then be taken out of the house to connect to my car or does it need to be connected to the mains at all times while charging? As my car's too far from my house to run an extension cable, would i need to take the battery out of my car?

Is yours an old one? I've found mine barely needs charging, use it occasionally to start vans and stuff, but is always ready and never long to full charge. Great when I need it, repeated cranking on some 2.5 litre diesels.

My car was hard to start due to running the auxiliary heater on the timer.
Picked up one of these chargers. superb for price and cables thicker than photo.
if you have a flat battery, you can plug this in on start mode and it will give a fast surface charge for 15 mins and then supplement the battery during cranking. You probably don't have to wait 15mins on a small petrtol car such as i10 or Matiz.

As a battery charger its ok but charging current drops off quickly and takes a while to fully charge battery this was on a 12v battery. On 6 volt battery it ruined the battery by cooking it (it was on 6 volt charge) as a jump starter it worked on an 1100cc car but not on anything larger and would not crank any diesel. My advice would be pay an extra £20 for a 20 amp charger from a more reliable company (dont mean Liddle but charger manufacturer) main problem is the internal resistance is low for a jump starter, unit probably made in china and you get what you pay for
