I don't see the problem with remaking classic games for the modern generation of consoles. It gives people who played them back in the day the chance to play them in hd beauty, and younger audiences who wouldn't entertain playing older gen consoles because of the graphical backward step they would have to take get the chance to paly these awesome games. well done nintendo. at the end of the day, nobody has to buy these, but the option is there for those that want it.

it always makes me laugh when people complain about hd remakes on games, but people rarely complain when movies like star wars are upgraded from vhs to dvd to bluray. whats the difference?

It's only worth if you want the content they have locked away, like the cool Mii Racing Suits for Mario Kart 8, ability to play Mario Party 10 at its fullest or tons of different costumes in Yoshi's Woolly World (except Pokémon amiibos, unless they fixed it now).

Well I got a response about my query being forwarded to Nintendo Germany to be checked out.

There was no T&Cs coming up when I purchased. And waiving your right to refund doesn't mean you can sell under false pretences. They clearly state there would be a discount, but didn't apply it. I made that purchase thinking it would be. When Tescos or any other retailer has done this to me I've either gotten the difference back or a full refend to send the item back.

But unfortunately, the price shows clearly as £8.99; when the offer was available, it shows the £8.99 with a strike-through and £4.49 instead. The purchase and promotion T&Cs will probably have been displayed at some point through the transaction process (I can't recall exactly the steps) and there's a prompt to confirm that you waive your right to request a refund

By all means contact them to see if a refund can be made, but I'd suggest not getting your hopes up too much.

About 3am I think, it was just as I was going to bed and I remembered that it would end, as you can see I checked and it still said 50% off, so I thought it was fine.

Laws in the UK say that they have to offer it at the price they state or refund me.

I bought thtem both, but it didn't give me the discount, this was last night, I checked and the games still said "50% off if you own PH/ST on this Wii U"

Looks like I'll have to e-mail nintendo.

Right, okay - you may need to buy one before you'll see the discount on the second. I've just checked on my system and see the discount applying (not that I could actually buy them again!).

You'll still be able to buy these in future, just not with the 50% discount against the second purchase.

If it helps, you can probably get to the eShop without connecting the main unit up to the TV, instead just using the gamepad.

Good for the price and for people who missed out when the ds ruled the waves. Just seems like they will always be better on a handheld console. 3ds owners should prob buy both 2nd hand off fleaby to get the most out of them.

Any word on the controls on Phantom Hourglass? Are they still touchscreen only? That really put me off re-playing the original release.

I'm looking forwards to the HD port of Twilight Princess, especially if the layout is the original, when they originally made the Wii version they effectively mirrored everything to make Link right-handed, as a left handed player though this made playing the game quite a challenge and not very fun.

So I'm hoping it's a remaster of the Gamecube version and not the Wii version.

Lol you don't remember how badly people complained about stars wars?? For starters VHS to DVD we had the who shot first change that really annoyed fans, then there was all the additional horrible cgi changes added, including adding in anakin. There was years of complaining (and still is) about it. You probably picked the worst example you could've chosen to back up your no complaints :wink:

Yeah, the GameCube version has never been cheap, don't think it's ever dropped below retail price. But of course when the game first came out both versions were the same price - the GameCube version was just much rarer.

And yeah, it's really annoying that the Wii U is technically capable of playing GameCube games - there's no reason it couldn't run them right off the discs just like the Wii - Nintendo just locked that feature out, presumably to re-release them digitally or make HD remasters, neither of which they seem to be bothering with. But Nintendont works wonders...

Ah, I get you now - my original reading was that you meant across the two systems taken together (which is already possible), rather than taking each in isolation.

For that he'd need to acquire a physical copy of Twlight Princess and they're pretty pricey nowadays (might drop down a tad when TPHD is out) so either download a backup of TP or play the Wii version.

Well, he can play GameCube games on the Wii U but he needs to look it up if he's really interested.

At the end, yes, but before that I said 'this is all great news', meaning both the release of the DS games on the Wii U's VC and the Twilight Princess HD announcement. Obviously the Wii games are already playable on the Wii U - and the DS games are already playable on the 3DS - but Nintendo have re-released so many Zelda games in so many forms that we're close to being able to play everything on both Wii U and 3DS. So, okay, I'm not expecting them to put the bigger console games like Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword onto the 3DS, or even somehow port A Link Between Worlds to the Wii U (losing the 3D effect), but they would just need to put the 3 original GameBoy games onto the Wii U VC and A Link to the Past onto the 3DS VC and you would be able to play just about all of them on either console.

If it's a GAME exclusive then it'll either cost £50 or £60. If it'll go for £50 then I might bite.

If Twilight Princess HD Special Edition only features the amiibo then I might go for the Standard Edition but if I can get it for £45 (like I did with Xenoblade X LE -- well £39 instead) then it'll definitely be worth it (sell off the amiibo since it'll probably have some value at launch).
