at that price you may as well clear the shelves and give your surplus to friends, family and a food bank

Latest research (yes, I know it changes all the time) says that Sunflower oil is not good for cooking. Heat changes it chemically producing a substance that is bad for you. This happens to some extent with all oils, but more with sunflower. The recommendation is to use this oil cold, for salads, and cook with rapeseed.

Please do you mind sharing this latest research? Please cite reputable references only! Thanks.
Absolutely, however only if you live in an Olive oil producing country such as Greece / Spain can you afford to use it for frying.

Sunflower oil isn't healthy olive oil is best. Too many omega 6 in sunflower and that blocks your omega 3. Pointless buying fish in sunflower oil as any omega 3 is not absorbed! Better in tomato sauce but not if contains sunflower oil!

Cooking with rapeseed oil is best or groundnut oil I.e. Peanut oil!

If anyone can empty the shelves and lives within 30 miles of Cardiff I'll buy it off you for 40p a litre - my car runs fine on this stuff and at that price it's a real bargain!

Gordon Brown allowed a maximum annual mileage when using vegetable oil but who is ever going to declare their vegetable oil mileage for an old diesel car! Still the same law now but nobody takes notice!

There was a TV show last week demonstrating this exactly. That cooking these at high temperatures did give off chemicals that were not good. Just can't remember what it was!
Think the programme was called, "trust me I'm a doctor,"
Regular price in my extra. Has anyone got it at 20p apart from op ?

If you are actually interested, I suggest you try one of those online search engines. I suppose I could do it for you, but it seems to me that that would involve an extra step and be less efficient.

You are already doing it, if you have a diesel. It's part of the green agenda that some biodiesel is added into the fuel you buy at the pump. You could write to your MP and complain about the policy, but I am not sure what you expect people to do with stale oil from the chippy etc. Also alcohol in petrol- much more so in the US, where huge amounts of maize are being grown specifically for adding to petrol.

thanks , well used chip shop oil is no longer food grade , i have read that using corn to make ethanol is not an efficient process either and that the resulting fuel is less potent than hydrocarbons, writing to my MP will achieve nothing, i will just be sent a standard reply via a minion. despite grandiose claims we live in a democracy the average citizen has ZERO say in the world around him
