I think it's just the vita port with all DLC or something

Well the devs call it a 'reimagining' of the Vita game so much so that they see both versions as seperate entites. They added new things in (areas/concepts/Dualshock 4 specific control features) and its silky smooth too running at 60fps/1080p.

It´s the vita version with extended story for PS4 players. There are some new levels and locations, but the story is the same.

Would this game be good for an 8 year old? Don't know anything about the LittleBigPlanet series or whatever, just seems like a good game.

lol i'm sure it will be great for an 8 year old and he/she will thank you for it, hey I'm in my 30's and I'm looking forward to playing it .
its a nice change from other games and they usually give you a few laughs these media molecule games.
Enjoy.

There's a demo on the ps4 store. It has a tone to inspire as a fairy tale story. It was one reason I didn't enjoy it myself, I felt like it was treating the player to much like a child and I grew bored almost instantly. Just not my type of game.
But I would say it would make an 8 year old enjoy it.
It has nothing to do with little big planet. Just the same developers who made that game. Lbp is a good title, but then again the 3rd did the same as this title and treats the player like a child again and I stopped playing that. ><

I would definitely recommend this for an 8 year old. Child friendly narrative & great game design.

My 7 year old daughter played the demo and really enjoyed it so we bought her the full game for her birthday and it's the first game she's properly enjoyed playing and doesn't get bored and give up after 5 minutes. Definitely worth buying
