This thread, so much negativity, there is.

I thought the beta was a blast with great sound and visuals. This game will sell like hotcakes this christmas with the new film out.

Having played the "beta" (a month before is a demo) I thought this game was awful. No weapon feedback, terrible map design, unbalanced & such limited control over vehicles. I reckon people should try it before preordering if they have an Xbox One.
EmperorRosko
12 Nov 15 #5
Single player campaign should have been added. As far as the beta went, I couldn't see any real progression, the weapons were all just laser blasters of differing damage and fire rates, no real difference in their handling.

I think it's expensive to ask for a full game price then a season pass on top of that, when games like Black Ops 3 offer, campaign, deep multiplayer, and zombies for the same price.

this one will be bargain bucket purchase for me, which I don't think will be long.

LMAO, a campaign that is boring same old nonsense, and youve cleared after only 4 hours?

Wow, talk about moaning for the sake of it.

The beta gave you a snippet. There are many weapons in the full game.

Been counting down the days to this being released ever since I played the Beta. I loved it, even though I'd never watched a single Star Wars film at the time. I've now watched all six and have the game pre-ordered.
JezJezJez
12 Nov 15 2 #39
I'm not normally into multiplayer games but this really is brilliant if you're a Star Wars FPS fan. Sure I would have loved a campaign, but there are single player missions which you can play to get you up to speed with the MP.

I'm playing this on a mates XBOne now. If you're a Star Wars fan but avoiding this as you're not an MP fan then you're missing out on something really special.

You get 10% off the full game if you've got EA Access too - and that can be the only part of this that would be considered a "Deal". Having access to games isn't a deal, it's something you've paid for when you bought a sub to EA Access.

This site is weird sometimes.

BigMoab
12 Nov 15 #46
I too was disappointed that there was no single player and the Beta I found fairly crap to be honest. It's a real shame that games like CoD have pretty much ruined the FPS Genre for games because all I saw were people running and gunning. Battlefield wasn't about that aspect but more of the tactical side of things yet people were still dumb and interested in kills only. It will be ruined when Battlefront comes out which is a real shame because I was looking forward to it but now with Fallout 4 being released I decided to cancel my order and wait until it goes down in price.
davemhaynes to BigMoab
12 Nov 15 #48
Try the full game trial and decide. Running around the forest shooting at speeder bikes and Princess Leia ... what's not to like lol
BubaMan to BigMoab
12 Nov 15 #53
Battlefield 4 has been recently modified to give much higher rewards for objectives than those for kills... which makes for much more interesting games.
As the same people are involved for this, I'm hoping that logic will be applied to Battlefront

Zombrex by the looks of it ^^
ChrisUK
12 Nov 15 1 #79
Found it.

Deluxe:

Included in the “deluxe” edition (you’ll understand the quotes in a moment) are the following items:

DL44 blaster – as made famous by Han Solo
Ion Grenade
Ion Torpedo
Ion Shock (exclusive emote)
Victory (exclusive emote)

The first three items on the list (the blaster, the grenade, and the torpedo) aren’t exclusive. They are listed as “instant access,” indicating that you can unlock them through normal play (confirmed to us by EA).

That leaves two purely cosmetic items separating the standard edition from the “deluxe” version. Instead of simply including these things for pre-orders (as has become common), EA is charging $10 for them.

Ultimate:

Season pass

Apparently, COD, Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline have single player campaigns. I wouldn't know as I've only ever played multiplayer.
Single player campaigns are a waste of disc space, programming time and effort in games such as these.
jaybizzle
12 Nov 15 2 #138
I don't get why people would cry over lack of single. FPS's are all about the online, why waste anyone's time with a mode that can be completed before lunch and no replay value.

Dunno if it's my external HDD but the load times are utterly appalling... 5-10 mins to get into a game, by which time it's nearly over - 1 hour of my trial gone, total play-time ~2 mins :disappointed:
Deleted & downloading to the internal HDD to see if that makes a difference... Anyone else playing from USB / with appalling load times?

12 Nov 15 #151
I don't think the people (like myself) who're disappointed by the lack of a campaign really care about longevity, they just wish there was a mode which emphasised the cinematic atmosphere of the source material more than the moment-to-moment hectic fun of multiplayer. It's always nice to have both, particularly if the game is based on iconic imagery that for once would make a short single player story worthwhile.

They've really perfected their milking strategy.

- Sell the base game for borderline exorbitant prices.
- offer early access to day 1 DLC for pre-order sales.
- Give competitive advantage from leveling up
- Sell early access via a secondary subscription service, to allow players to get ahead of the curve on earning XP.
- Sell a deluxe edition that skips XP requirement for certain items.
- Sell season passes that contain DLC maps. Maps that will cause fragmentation & hasten the decline of the player base. The purpose being to encourage 'premium' players to move onto the next 'big thing' in a year's time.
- After which point they'll 'generously' make all the DLC free to bolster 2nd-wave sales to tightwads & skinflints.

They've successfully turned customers into nothing more than cows at a milking parlor; the only difference being you have to feed cows before you milk them.
JezJezJez to TehJumpingJawa
13 Nov 15 #194
Welcome to the games industry of the 21st century. EA isn't doing anything different from the vast majority of other games companies. However the main difference between your cows and gamers analogy is that the cows have no choice.

The bottom line is YOU DONT HAVE TO BUY THE GAMES!

Search on Youtube- one game reviewer (professional, not some random guy) has done a full in depth review - he isn't overly impressed.
Aeschylus
13 Nov 15 #195
Well firstly he has done a in-depth based on a few hours  also any reviewers who attended the EA preview is under embargo, so be very cautious of any reviews that come out before the embargo is over as they will likely be clickbait

Also longevity is subjective, seriously who really plays a game for years anymore? if you got 20 hours entertainment out of it for £40, that is £2 a hour, not really that bad hey! and if you sold it after that 20 hours for £20 it is a £1 a hour!

Try not being so negative, if you want a game that you will play everyday for hours and hours you want a MMO or DOta or something like that..
DCFC79
13 Nov 15 #197
I didn't think the game was too bad, not 1 I would buy but 1 to rent.

This game is class as an FPS, Star Wars and Battlefront fan. Been waiting since number 2 on PS2 for this to get realeased never thought it would see the light of day. Couldn't care less for no campaign, it's Battlefront.. Not Battlefield. Adding an 8hr single player story would've just been a waste of resources to me

wakeywarrior

Aeschylus
15 Nov 15 #207
There is not many people who disagree that it is content light, the season pass is a essential purchase and from Colombia it make it £47 for Game and season pass....

Now once the Embargo is over you know and I know there will be lots of positive reviews as well, one should never base a video game purchase on what other people say in the media, you should know that...(unless it is overwhelmingly negative by everyone) I get that lots of people are angry that EA/Dice have hidden large swathes of the game behind a paywall, but alas there it is, no one forces anyone to buy it
robm612
15 Nov 15 #208
I think videogamer summed this game up perfectly, when they said for the first few hours it's the best game ever, but there doesn't seem to be any substance once the initial "holy **** I am literally on hoth" factor has worn off.

I think its ridiculous that people will download a 20gb demo to play a couple hours but your free to do as you like its just funny that some will spend more time downloading the "trail" than they will get to play. I dont see how the thread was not deleted nevermind how its got so much heat.... Your not actually getting anything so wheres the deal ?
McShane1
18 Nov 15 #213
Erm, it's not a demo. It's the full game. So when your 10 hour trial runs out, the game is there waiting for you to play when it's released.
