This scales up like any other kettle, but in others you don't really see this, get some citric acid from ebay, three teaspoons, fill it up, boil, sit for 10 mins and its as good again.

Is it an extremely noisy kettle when boiling?

I have the slightly older version of this and live in a hard water area. I use 50/50 white vinegar and water, leave to stand, boil, rinse thoroughly, works beautifully, no effort. ^_^

Bought this kettle in December one of the plastic hinges on the lid broke off, now the lid doesn't open automatically by pushing the button, also it scales up in a day or so after descaling but we do live in a hard water area.
Although it looks very stylish I am very dissappointed with it.
I dont know where I can get a replacement lid as I expected it to last longer than two months even though it wasn't the most expensive kettle on the market.

Does anyone know how the lid release is supposed to work?
It was fine for a couple of months but now has to be lifted up while pressing the release button. It seems to me that there is a bit of friction between the lid and the kettle making it too tight to release in the usual way, but I cannot see what can be done to fix it.
I like the kettle a lot and would like to use it again.
All LIDL can do is refund the price paid but of course being a 'special offer' which may or may not appear again next year or later with very little warning to be sure of getting one.
A pity LIDL dont have a central replacement stock!

bought this kettle last week, but have noticed a bad taste once water is boiled. Has anyone else noticed this?
