The Note 4 is metal apart from the back which is plastic.
The reason for that, I'm sure most of you will know, is to allow you to fit an 128GB microSD card or swap out the battery....killer features that most previous Note owners (judging by reactions on forums) couldn't do without.

In comparison the storage on the Note 5 is limited without paying a hefty premium and when the battery depletes/degrades...no swap out.

The Note 4 is plenty fast enough and is not gimped like the Note 5.

Note 5 has more powerful faster processor and 1GB extra Ram,sharper screen,better camera,lighter,much less gimmicky version of touchwiz and ofcourse much nicer design and feels alot more premium.it really feels amazing in hand.looks stunning in gold.
it's true lack of SD card and removable battery is disappoiting,but then what can you do.it is what it is.they give you 100GB free Microsoft cloud and battery can actually be replaced by Samsung if it ever needs to be replaced due to degrading.

Good price for the note edge, but I would either. get a note 4 for less or a s6 plus edge for quite a bit more

I think ​Arianna Grande agree with you in her latest vid,on a serious note I nearly bought a 64g note 5(it's nice)until I found a 4 at 300£ new and a samsung pro 12.2 at 290£,total of 590 compared with 549 for a note 5,thanks samsung

I sold my mint Note 4 6 months ago for £280. Buy used for better prices. A note 4 new should now indeed be around £300 especially as you can buy new note 5s for around £400

Would have bought this phone for this price a year ago but not now. I like how the edge is a separate screen unlike the S6 edge\edge plus but everything else is just old. Design, extra large size and build quality. Wish they would bring out an edge 2 in metal\glass. Couldnt give a monkeys about sd card slot or removable battery. Get the look and build feel quality right first.

Never understood the sd card slot fanboys. When I had my note 4 with 64gb card my device wasnt a 96gb phone. It was still a 32gb phone with the ability to store 64gb of music or pics. I needed a phone that can store over 32gb of apps and data within apps.

Problem with all these sd card slot phones are that they max out at 32gb or even worse 16gb. The SD card slot was almost useless to me. Only thing I used it for was a few mp3s and storing the photos I took.

I take 4 x 128GB microsd cards with me when travelling/camping; with my files and many Blu-ray ripped movies on them for entertainment. UK wide 4G is sparse when on the move and Cloud storage is not an option.

The Note 4 runs every app and game exceedingly well and is a bit special with its excellent adaptation which lends itself to flexibility when travelling and offers a modicum of independence from being a slave to the power outlet.

The Note 5 is indeed a step up over the year old Note 4 but, it does not run anything that the Note 4 can't run well.

The Note 5 for me is just not practical and never could be.

Which will be fine, of course (though the difference between 4 and 5 is marginal - having tried both) until the battery dies and you can't replace it. Sorry - I'm yet another one that would rather buy another Note 4 (I just have, for the wife) than the degraded Note 5.

How is this a good deal. For this money, you could get a note 5 or nexus 6p. The top two android phones available. If you need expendable storage and battery, the lg g4 for under £300 is a much better option.

well sooner or later all phones will be without SD card...it's just a matter of time..started with Apple...then google and samsung followed..others will as well..not saying I defend lack of it..I'd personally want SD card myself..but this is where mobile phone market is heading...cloud.

No ones saying Note 5 is a bad product, Samsung sacrificed functionality for looks, some people like it, some people don't, simple as that really.

Note 5 wasn't released in the UK because Samsung realised that releasing a downgraded phone into a pretty educated market such as the UK and pretending it's an upgrade might damage the brand. Note 5 is a complete irrelevance in the UK. It's inferior to Note 4 - what idiot would want to buy one?

Hardly irrelevant! it's not available to just to go buy in Carphone Warehouse or O2, Three etc or on a contract is it? and even if you do buy a import some dont support all the 4G frequencies of certain networks.

also regarding incompatibility with certain UK frequencies..there are few models and 920C is fully compatible with all uk networks.
and about warranty many of the vendors provide their own warranty.
not as convinient as 24 months European samsung warranty but it is there.

thats a stupid idea..lol..Samsung didn't released Note 5 in Europe because their European marketing research revealed there is little demand for the stylus,instead people are more attracted to media consumption and aesthetics..hence why they released only the S6 Edge Plus.and of course they charge more for curved corners.and people who want bigger samsung phablet have no choice.

The 'improvements' you mention are barely perceptible in reality. The lack of a card slot is a major drawback, though - for a great many people. And the inability to replace a failed battery is the difference between sorting the problem out for £12, and sorting it out for at least £100 - quite apart from the convenience of being able to slip a small battery into a pocket for an extra day's usage in an emergency.

Samsung assumed that people would just make the pointless 'upgrade' without thinking it through and realising that actually it's a downgrade. They were wrong. :wink:

I've owned Note 4 and now upgraded to Note 5 and I could immediately feel the benefits of faster,more powerful processor,also the screen is definitely superior,so is the camera.
you are simply under estimating the hardware improvements.
battery can be replaced by samsung (or other specialist shops) in UNLIKELY case of degrading,after all these phones will become obsolete after 2 years and you will have to upgrade anyway.
the feel and design of the Note 5 also destroys Note 4...
I won't g back to 4 even if they pay me.it was awesome last year.not anymore.
Note 5 is the new king whether you like to admit or not.
