For Photoshop, Indesign etc it's actually pretty quick still. 2x2GHz G5 cpu's plus an ssd (£40) and a pile of DDR which I had laying about anyway it's a really nice machine,yes you're stuck using old versions of software but they work well enough for what she needs if we get a year where she makes a big profit we'll buy something newer to minimise tax liability but for now it just works nicely.

It chugs a little on intense Web pages but less so than a netbook. Wife has always had Macs she's a Graphic Designer/Web Designer from before they were made cool.

Worth it just to fill with My Little Pony episodes from Netflix and keep the kids off my iPad. :smiley:

I've had one of these and they are really very very good for watching films etc on because of the forward facing speakers. I STRONGLY recommend getting a charging stand (mine was about £6 a couple of years ago as the main charging ports is a MicroUSB port and is prone to breaking very easily. The charging stand uses other contacts to charge it so you are not using the MicroUSB port and also holds the tablet at the perfect angle for films.

Honestly, not sure it's worth this any more. Haven't voted.

I had one for my birthday about 3½ years ago. It combined really nicely with the BB6/7 stuff I had then and the OS felt quite snappy. The App Store wasn't great to begin with but has basically been abandoned since BB10 was released (and BB broke their promise and refused to update the Playbook to get it).

I last used it as a video player when I went on holiday last year. I tried to use it as part of a multiscreen setup for the election this year, and it really struggled with streaming (which is a shame, as it used to do it perfectly - I guess it doesn't deal with HTML5 video as well as it did Flash). So, if you're looking at a video player - go for it. If you have even marginal expectations for anything else - forget it.

I have one that I use now just as a media player / storage device and have it hooked up to my bluetooth sound system. Great for anything like that with the 64GB storage. No longer much use as a tablet due to the lack of support from RIM.

I bought a new one a few years ago for about £80 - use it for movies on the train and on holidays - for the money it's great lots of storage and drag and drop for files.

Browser is a bit clunky and apps very limited - and I got the premium leather cover from Curry's clearance for 19p!

If you decide how to use it i.e. a movie player it's worth the money.

Amazing picture and sound quality, not great for internet but if you're not in a rush it works well. No android but some useful free apps in the blackberry store. I use mine for watching video and I'm yet to find anything to match the picture and especially the sound quality. 64gb for 25 quid is a no brainer. Some videos play direct but some will need converting. There are many free applications to do this on the net. Battery life is good and I get approx 6 hours from a full charge watching video. The quickest way is to use avidemux, if you read this article there are usefull instruction towards the bottom of the page regarding the use of avidemux.

very tempting..... i still use my kindle fire hd despite not running a lot of apps anymore because the speakers and display are great. so while you can get all kinds of stuff from a chinese generic they often cut corners on things like that

I have done this in the past but had to use a media player bought from the (very limited) app store, which cost about a fiver I think. Worked well.

But a 64GB tablet for £20 seemed very exciting . . . although I can't find a use for it (other than those already mentioned in the link).

I'm not going to vote either way here but just thought I'd add my tuppence worth. On the plus side a tablet of this spec for under £25 is a great price. It might be a good device if you want a cheap tablet for kids to play with etc.

However as someone who owned these, and paid £160 for the 32gb version once upon a time, they are a very frustrating device to use as an everyday tablet. I persevered with mine for quite a while but eventually admitted defeat and sold it. The web browser is terrible, the app support is no existent and even as an emulator for android apps its very hit and miss. A shame really as the device hardware really did deserve better.

I too bought one a while back when they were on offer in Currys. It was a good bit of kit. Then "upgraded" to the hudl. Used for video and browsing. Since I bought an iPad 18 months ago, it's been in storage. Was gonna sell it, but if they are selling for that little, hardly worth the effort.

Bought one of these about two years ago for £89. Was awful then so im sure it's even worse now.

Bought one few years back for about £60; great for playing media and sideoaded Kindle so more than worth it for that alone and keeps the kids entertained on long journeys. Sideload loads of apps and only a few didn't work

Yes -ish - best to use Kalemsoft app (£3.50) which down-converts AC3 audio. I copy files onto the playbook via wifi from my NAS but if you load ES File manager (a bit of a faf to load as it is an android app) it reads from remote NAS if given the IP.

Arrived and in perfect condition. One very light surface mark on screen but very happy with quality for the money perfect media's player for the car for the boy.

I actually dropped one of these into a scottish loch and it came back to life. I take a few on road trips, great camera, decent GPS & off.online mapping & lots of room for movies & audio books.
