Surely it's more ethical to spend the extra £5 and buy it from the Raspberry Pi Foundation. They do good work here in the UK to promote computer literacy, they can't help kids and schools without the support.

can you get an Andriod box for £24?
My Pi is just cable tied to the back of my TV, wired to the network and uses my normal TV remote to function.

I think openELEC on the Pi is way more stable than the Android version. Most people have an old microusb charger lying around. Mine is connected by ethernet but you can always get a wifi dongle on fleabay for a couple of quid. Add another 2-3 quid for a case & you're all set. You can use the excellent Yatse remote control app on your phone to control it or you may find that your TV remote just works because of the pulse eight CEC settings. Kodi is buttery smooth on my Pi2 and much better than on my Galaxy Note Pro 12.2.

your joking right? a good % of people on this site would step on their granny to pick up a fiver they spotted on the floor.

I've got a rp with openelec and a Amazon fire stick with Kodi. Fire stick overall was cheaper (no hdmi, remote, power supply, SD card, case if you don't have them) and if you have a good WiFi connection, IMO it runs smoother too.

Except you can't actually buy it from the Raspberry Pi foundation !
They don't make it or sell it - they license out production and sales to RS / Farnell
Wherever you buy it from the Rpi foundation get the same money.

I ordered a Pi from them on 26/10 and I got an email on the 31/10 saying it had been shipped, so "Shipped" within the 3-5 business it says on the listing, however the email also states "The package should normally take 10-25 business days to arrive (approximately).". It's now the 12/11 and I'm still waiting, not an issue for me as it's a Xmas present but if you're wanting it quickly this isn't the deal for you.

If all you need is Kodi you would be better off just getting an android box.
I found the Pi2 slow as hell with Kodi + you will need to buy power supply, case,sd card, remote, wifi dongle, bluetooth dongle. The android box has all that for the same price as the Pi alone.
Plus on the S805 chips you can also install Openelec.

You don't really need a case, wifi dongle or Bluetooth dongle and lots of people will already have an old SD card and old phone charger they can use.

The Pi is better value for money by far as it's future proof you can easily install anything on it with complete customisation. I've been running kodi on a raspberry pi 1 for over a year now and it's great and still a lot quicker than downloading etc. You can easily and safely over clock the pi and tweak your addons like genesis etc. I'd take an original pi over an android box any day :stuck_out_tongue:
