I've seen a post on Steam that you can get the 20% off Halloween Discount and the 30% off loyalty that's 50% off a brand new game and they did a big update yesterday with this pool hall stuff - social pool or something?
I have already bought it but thought its worth a share if its good for you - the reviews for the Steam version are good - here' is the post I found that its £5?? BARGAIN! From the responses on forum I don't think the devs meant to do this
"I have played snooker and pool to a high standard for over 25 years and can safely say this is the best sim out there...ever! currently 50% off in turn making it the best £5 you will ever spend on steam.
Devs are active and keen to provide a fantastic experience, new update today has introduced an excellent MP lobby system along with cloth speed updates that are near perfect, and they are still not finished with it.
Do yourself a favour and get this, these guys deserve to have a good selling title on their hands.
Ignore pure pool and virtual pool, they pale in comparison.
Great title! nuff said." http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198064122781/recommended/314000/

Lol, yes maybe, I admit I sound like a fanboy but that's as I love pool games and try them all, non has ever matched VP for how real it feels to play, it's like comparing for explample, Grand Theft Auto and iRacing if you're into racing sims, its not just personal preference its down to the depth of technical knowledge and ability of the coders. BTW, I've helped beta test other pool games in hope they would surpass the VP sims as even thought I'm a fanboy of VP. I hoped they could be potentially better, emulated soft dynamics of the cushions for example. But that;s never happened so far, I still have hope it does.

"Honestly, it's a Pool sim. You're that bothered about the accuracy there are probably a dozen pool tables within a mile of you you could go and play on. "
Can't work out what your trying to say, first you're being "honest" in saying its a pool sim?, then saying if I expect realism in a game I should do the real thing instead? That part of the comment is a bit daft. Your presumption there are pool tables everywhere around me is also wrong, there are no snooker or pool halls in Shrewsbury, there are some pool tables in pubs but then its not only £1 a go, but on crappy tables with hardly anyone of decent skill to play and I would have the expense of taxi's and drinks on top of that. And that's if it were wrong to want to play games instead of doing the real thing, that comment would annoy any gamer no matter if its a sim or not.

"Also, since 90% of the games in my steam library have never been played I'm reluctant to add anything with an annual fee should I one day want to play it"
That's fair enough, I did say "Some of that might put you off and it would be understandable" about the fee's.

Reviews on steam are pretty good - better than the X1 version.
Head to the store is your best bet, you only get the loyalty discount if you own the original pool nation. But if you like pool its worth a punt

If Jimmy had just managed to achieve the level he could play in this game he'd have won every world championship ever.

Ignore Virtual Pool !! are you kidding or just misinformed?
The physics and fluid control of Virtual Pool 4 are massively better than Pool Nation, or any other billiards sim. The graphics might be "cooler" but I find them distracting, besides which the graphics are not the important part of a billiards sim, the way it plays is, And VP4 graphics might not be so flashy but they are perfect for concentration and the clarity helps greatly with aiming of the balls.
OK, VP4 physics might take more skill as they are more realistic which might put casual gamers off should they want their egos massaged by easy then life aiming, but anyone with ambition to improve their pool skill or professionals would much prefer the realism.
Also remember there's two incarnations of Virtual Pool 4:
The offline version which wont work with online play, and has a hefty price tag of $29.99, but does include a lot of solo play features such as tournaments, and also has a lot of aim assistant tools and replay shot features which can quickly train your eyes.
And Virtual Pool 4 Online, which if free to install and play as a gratis player, although with limited capacity, like not having custom cues, not being able to play other than a few of the basic games like 9 ball, and not being able to enter anything other than the basic garage room for matches, nor do you get any rating, but, its great to be able to try out the game play and experience what its like to play other real humans. you can upgrade to a full player by purchasing V$1000 which costs $10, and you can spend that on buying cues, and entering tournaments, ladders and such. The full status will last for 12 months where you will have to purchase another V$1000, so its like an annual subscription really.
Some of that might put you off and it would be understandable, but if you're into billiard games, and into computers, then the Virtual Pool franchise has always been the obvious choice, as it has always been leaps and bounds over other games with its realistic physics, and astonishing smooth and fluid controls.

Yes, probably it's this price for you because you own another game. The deal has to be amended to reflect it otherwise it's not a deal.

Not keen on Pool Nations mouse control. Much prefer Virtual Pool where the speed you move the mouse denotes the power with which you strike the ball. Far more immersive IMO.
