Really bad reviews and almost same price at Currys and John Lewis.....
This is £400.00 you could put towards an LG made by LG, Samsung made by Samsung or Sony made by Sony. On the other hand you could buy a Bush, Technika, Hitachi, Toshiba etc etc all made by the same company as the Panasonic. I know where my money would be going but 5 and 6 year warranties are now being offered on these Panasonic clones.
Just for the record though not all Samsung tv's have Samsung panels in them. On older tv's panels may be made by AU Optronics, CMO and CPT. Later models will have Sharp, AU Optronics and Chi Mei Optoelectronics. Just wonder which was in my son's little used UE40H5000 that's just got a not so nice green vertical line on it.

My son purchased his in January 2013 when he still lived at home. It was used here very little as he was always out. In the last 2 years it has had maybe an hour or two's use per day. Not much really when you think that our tv is on at least 6 hours per day and all day saturday and sunday. Not a good example from Samsung to be honest. It's a panel fault and am just waiting for him to confirm the panel code so I can find out if it is a Samsung panel or not. It appears to be quite a common problem and have seen reviewers from Phillips, Sharp and other brands with the same issue.
UPDATE: The Samsung UE40H5000 that my son has has Panel Version 40H6AFOD = SHARP, oh dear.....
2,651 hours uptime = 2.5 hours per day. Samsung claim far in excess of this so should be putting their products where their mouth is and giving longer guarantees on their products. Maybe Vestel could be better for a future purchase ........

It was a generic quote and not pointing towards any particular model. My point was use the £400.00 against a model by LG, Samsung or Sony. Any of these with the same spec will cost you more but it will be money well spent in my opinion. You get what you pay for were electronics are concerned.
