Hotspotting is a standard feature on Android 5.0+ (maybe even earlier releases too).
There are apps available also though.

Carphone warehouse are doing a huawei mifi for £20 per month rolling contract with 20gb data. Ordered one end of last week and it arrived today. You can order and give 30 days notice as soon as the order goes through, like I did, thereby getting a mifi and 20gb for just £20. This doesnt factor in the possible £20 cashback from Topcashback or Quidco either, which would bring the cost down to zero. However, personally Im not too hopeful the cashback will come through, but even without it, the deal is a cracking deal :-)

I presume the MiFi is unlocked? Seems like a cracking way to make the most of all of these cheap data deals that keep popping up!
Also, could you tell me what the model number is of the Huawei MiFi. There aren't any details about it on the Carphone Warehouse page (I'm looking to find out how big the built in battery is....along with the dimensions etc)
maano001
2 Nov 151#34
Hi. I haven't opened the package yet. However, I will open and check tomorrow and post back if that helps. In the meantime if you search for huawei mifi in the deals section of the website you should find posts there about it which may or may not mention the model number somewhere. As for it being unlocked or locked I am not unsure. The deal was posted twice recently and under one of the threads I think someone may have said its unlocked, but im not hundred percent sure. Could just be my memory is playing tricks on me :smirk: However what I do recall for sure is someone on one of the threads saying these sell for over £60, so the mifi alone is excellent for £20 even without any data. Anyway I will post back the model number when I open the package.

As stated, order SIM via ASDA site and you get the12GB free once you've topped up £5; that 12GB lasts till 8am on 01-01-16! EE PAYG are awfully expensive btw ( standard); Texts are 14p; calls have a connection fee of 35p then 35p per minute thereafter ie once that call is answered, even by an answering machine, that's 35 big one's ( pence) Far better with 3 which is as cheap as T-Mobile and Orange were before EE greed took over ( 1/2/3p for 1mb/text/calls per minute respectively)

A couple of points which may be of use...
If you already have an Asda SIM which you haven't activated yet, it's eligible for the 12GB data offer too. So you don't need to order another one.
If you're thinking of using the SIM for calls/texts after your £5 credit is used up, you might be better off going with Co-operative Mobile. Co-op Mobile calls are charged by the second, whereas Asda is by the minute. (If you have a 3G phone then a Three PAYG SIM will be cheaper at 3p/min for calls.)

On the 100GB data sim you get the free data after you have used the 1GB on your plan. If you get 2 months free you must be required to top up again after the first 30 days to get your 2nd month of data, if I'm reading this right.
Christmas SIM: Get your SIM by 23:59 on 29 December 2015, top up £10 within 14 days of getting it to buy your Data Pack then text CHRISTMAS100 to 150 to activate the 200GB free UK data. You get 100GB each month for 2 consecutive months. Free data starts as soon as the 1GB of data in your Data pack runs out and lasts up to 30 days. Check 4G coverage at ee.co.uk/coverage.

ee deal is a tenner, and this is £5, so 188 x 2 x 12GB = 4,512 GB. That's a lot of data! :smirk:
I'd not use that much in a year, let alone a month.
The £10 ee deal will be better for some, but because I won't use up all the 12GB I'll get for a fiver, this deal is £5 better for me.
Oh, wait, except that fiver of credit doesn't expire. So it's more than £5 better.

ive got one of these and the EE free 200gb (100gb x 1 month) , this asda is actually ok because the £5 top up is handy but you can top up £7 and £10 for more minutes the £7 gives you 300 minutes and the £10 gives you 600 minutes i think which is not bad for the £10 even the £7 for 300 minutes is very good as some networks dont give you that , they dont give 600 minutes for £10 , im on a monthly contract of 600 minutes unlimeted texts and 4gb from 3 for £13 which im pleased with , i got that package as a sim contract with 3 as a new customer so for what i use im happy with it , plus now i have the EE 200 gb and the asda 12gb so i will have all the data i need for over the xmas because ive got kodi on my phone so i will need as much data as i can get because when im out shopping i can stay in the car watching the football or a film on kodi , ive also just applied for another asda sim card for another 12gb for a fiver lol

I am thethering on it now and have been for a while. I had to ring the four digit number and they sent a text to configure my phone. It all worked then and she confirmed 12GB was active.

Just a follow up to this offer. I am sure it was probably buried in small print somewhere but I was getting close to the end of the 12GB 30 day period so used the £5 and bought a bundle.
Asda Mobile decided that despite the 12GB allowance still being active, they immediately took the data from the 100mb allowance which came from the bundle. Hence, now that the 12gb has expired I have zero data for the following month.
Asda Mobile customer services simply say, "Yep, that's how we designed it - tough luck" or words to that effect. Seems a bit shortsighted for the sake of 100mb but I guess that have my £5 and that is enough for them.......

With the extra £5 credit you can use it how you wish or use it on a 30 day Bundle and the lowest is £5

Edit. just seen by Jan. hmm still a lot to use, but still.... anyone know if it's 4G?
I already have one as an emergency card and system let me order another one.
will see if it arrives
Can the Asda or EE sims be tethered? If not, then is there an (android) app for that?
I tried the 100ggb sims and struggled to use more than 12gb
this seems ideal for me if I needed one right now
Heated
There are apps available also though.
Can't see any reason why you couldn't tether with a PAYG data allowance.
Same price as the SIM only deal but with 3 months free.
Still the free Christmas sims have covered me till Feb.

You get to keep all of your £5 top-up to spend on minutes and texts at the standard rate or you can use this credit to buy a 30 day bundle.
How long will my data last?
You can use your 12GB Free data as quickly or slowly as you wish, however any data remaining from the 12GB as of 8.00am 1st January will be removed from your account.
Can I get another 12Gb?
No, this offer is a one off for all new activations.
Also, could you tell me what the model number is of the Huawei MiFi. There aren't any details about it on the Carphone Warehouse page (I'm looking to find out how big the built in battery is....along with the dimensions etc)
Thanks for the heads up - another good deal that I'll more than likely go for

Can I Tether from my Asda Mobile Phone
You can use your Asda Mobile phone as a personal hotspot if your device allows this. This allows you to access the internet on another device using your Asda Mobile data. Data charges may apply.
http://shop.ee.co.uk/campaigns/christmas-sim-from-ee.
Don't care about 4g just want a quick access from internet direct from my ipad and 3g speeds work out the cheapest! Plus you get to keep the credit on this deal!
Im in France, and I ll come to London during the next weekend.I ll need a data sim card. Do you know if it could be possible to buy this Asda sim-card somewhere in London, directly ?
Else, do you know what is the best deal for a data sim-card I could buy directly in London ? (something like 1GB or more / 10£ or less..) ? Thanks
I did not find any official ASDA store near my location in London (http://storelocator.asda.com/#!/search/index?dym=1&qs=high%20street%20kensington), and I ll not have time to look for that. Do you know if I can buy ASDA sim card in casual phone shops ?
Else, I saw that Lebara UK and Lyca UK have data prepaid plan as well (1GB / 7,5£). Is there better offers I could find easily in phone shops ? Thanks again

Better off going to the store guys as I got fed up waiting.
I woke up to find an email saying it had been despatched. :sunglasses:
Couldn't be simpler
Topped up with £5 using a voucher purchased in store at the same time, and I now have 12gb of data available.
is there a problem?
mobile data at phone works fine.

At least people know calling customer services is free though, and to be fair to them, they have been really good on the 2 occasions I have phoned then.
