there are plenty of reviews out there for this pj , but i can tell you it is entry level home cinema , not to loud with the fans , pic quality wise if you watch bluray , it would be ok , if you`ve never used pj before a 92 inch screen will blow you away.
But be aware you must think about .... throw ratio .... how to mount the pj ( pj placement ) ..... new leads ..... fixing the screen to the ceiling joists......
It is nothing like just buying a tv.lol .... but on the other hand , good luck buying a 92 led.......

Do you think it would be worth pulling the trigger on this now or waiting for Black Friday? Torn between this or the BenQ W1070.

Anyone know anywhere doing a good deal on these projectors alone? I'm tempted but I don't need the screen!

Any one ordered this and had it delivered? I wanna make sure, its not refurbished or something before I take the plunge.

these wont be refurb from costco , its not the first time an offer like this has come up from them , they used to do the optoma 131 at this price with a screen.

choco, I think this site's pathetic rules on external links is blocking your links. If they paid a click fee however they'd be welcomed with a red carpet.
May I suggest you upload the photos to somewhere such as http://minus.com/ ? Minus will provide you with a forum code that this lot will eventually allow.
Hi all. I have the model prior to this bought 2 years ago from Costco. we have it projecting on a magnolia wall the bulbs are so bright picture is perfect. also no need to wall mount. my projector is on an IKEA kalax shelf and image is at a good night. see pixs

I think that's the way to go isn't it, films seem to be okay but football requires too much eye movement. LCD I think will be the way forward its doing my head in

I have a DLP projector already, but does anybody suffer with seeing that rainbow effect particularly when watching sport. It's driving me insane.

Hopefully the projector is new as you will probably get used to the rainbow. I know it may sound silly but try and relax and just focus on the picture, ignore the rainbow. Also the rainbow is more pronounced from the corner of the eye so make sure you are straight on to screen.
I would say give it time and the rainbows should subside.

Unfortunately some people do suffer this effect more than others and whilst you can 'get used to it' it won't go away. Some PJs suffer from it more than others. That's the main drawback from DLP PJs. It's also difficult to get a demo of a particular unit. Suppose the good thing about Costco is, you can just take it back for a refund.

I do, it drives me nuts! I swear wearing glasses makes it worse. Although weirdly I don't seem to see as much whilst gaming.

try not to look around the screen so much , looking left and then right , greatly increases the effect , takes a bit of getting used to just watching the middle .
This unit uses a 2 speed color wheel so the rbe effect will be more noticable , the 131 uses 3 and the similar priced benqw1070 is better still.
Failing that move on to lcd , i moved from the 131xe go lcd and for me the difference was night and day , no more rbe :stuck_out_tongue:

thanks for feedback. projectors are power hungry. i guess in winter thats not a big deal as they help heat the room but in summer . well overall I think i must stick with my monitor until i can acquire some more dosh, thanks for feedback

thanks, i think turning your wall into a screen makes more sense than buying a screen , thanks for tip. two more issues power consumption and fan noise, some projectors really gobble the watts and the fan noise can be off putting , thats one reason i am tempted by a ssd hard drive as they supposedly run silent , any ideas. my 27 inch acer uses 30 watts

i had a InFocus X7 old style vga and it was very long throw, you needed twenty foot to fill the wall
thats a very important consideration as you need to consider the room you will use, i myself would only want a projector with a short throw , most people dont live in an auditorium after all

isnt short throw projectors better?.. Saw a video about it on youtube and it doesnt take space. These need to projected from distance right?

can anybody recommend a good wall paint for projectors?

Search for black widow on AVForums. Basically a mix of Dulux Grey Steel and Aluminium Auto-Air paint. I used this and a piece of MDF to create a fixed screen. I have a 96" pic and the screen is sensational. All for £40ish!
What distance would be needed for 92", ive had a few PJ's but could only manage 66" :stuck_out_tongue:
Ive got a Hd65 sitting faulty - tried a brand new bulb but its still not switching on, could be ballast? I dunno, I must repair/flog it

I have the HD131x. Great piece of kit for the price. Screen is useful if you don't have a suitable clean wall, but as others have said you can also paint a wall to very good effect.

Got the hd151x. Yes you can go better with a sim2 etc but at this price with screen included this is a bargain and you will be impress with it. Just watched Serenity on mine and it's a different beast to a tv

Have set one of these up for someone in a dedicated room. Great picture quality.
Initially it was projecting onto a quality 120" screen. Had the walls re-skimmed and used some specialised paint and there was a significant increase in picture quality. And that's at around 200".
Either way, wall or screen its a good PJ. Relatively quiet, 3D is good and the ability to project from phones etc is nice too.

Heard this is a great projector, I have the 151x and love it! Much better off projecting onto a wall if you have a spare one to do so though, Some great paint mixes out there to rival £1000 screens!
