I really don't understand what people want or expect this price point? You're clearly nuts!

Screen res is fine, I've got handfuls of devices 1366*768, 1080, 720 yada yada and I don't notice the difference between any of them. Think people get swept up in 4k, QHD etc without thinking WHY you need that resolution, also you make the resolution higher everything is going to get smaller, higher resolution on 10" on this tablet would make the desktop on this unusable.

Ive got and had zero problems with the display dpi, resolution etc and as I suffer terribly from migraines that's actually very impressive for me.

You are not going to get high spec, high res tablet for around £100, you just aren't so I don't know why people have to complain so much about it, its quite frankly ridiculous. If you suffer a physical fault that's fair enough but don't moan about low specs on a LOW price tablet.

You want super high res go buy a Surface 4 or iPad and pay accordingly

I put an offer in for one from 3 monkeys it was on buy it now for £129.99 I paid £90 really really pleased with it and yes it had Office 365 with it and there nothing wrong with it whatsoever!

Enjoying the 1tb of Onedrive, Outlook runs perfectly on it too and it's even had the Win10 popup too (not done it yet)

Simply fabulous device all round

Wait for the 27th. Almost certain these will be around for about £90 or less. Bought the 8" version from Staples for about £60. Well built and decent performance. Be careful upgrading to Win 10 unless its already installed. Have had lots of problems since I did. Look at the Linx forums for issues/problems.

I used to recommend these highly until I came across an issue and then had to call support... They are rude and completely unhelpful! My parents were using a Linx tablet and it suddenly wouldn't switch on. They told me it's because the system was updated to Windows 10 via Automatic Update and a change in the operating system is not covered under the warranty. I'm sorry, but if the system is running Windows and Microsoft push out an update via Automatic Update, then this has to be supported! I certainly won't be buying or recommending Linx tablets again. It really does seem like a case of you get what you pay for!

Have played on a 1010 briefly: to me it feels a little bit better. Difficult to describe exactly. To me the best tablets (or phones) feel like the screen and the case are a single unit, the Linx 10 (as much as I like it) feels like the screen and the case are two separate things stuck together. The 1010 feels better than the 10, more like a single unity (to me at least).

I have one of these and very happy with it, however I think it's worth paying the extra £20 for the latest version (Linx 1010)

Is the build quality better for the 1010? I bought the Linx10 when it was on offer at Staples months ago, but the touch panel cracked and finding a replacement was a pain in the ****, and then being an idiot I cracked the screen later, and I just couldn't find any information of what the screen model was.

I got one from Staples last year and it is a very nice tablet for the money. No problems with mine at all. 10 inch screen is much easier to view than the smaller tablets and the resolution is just fine for this size. Use it to browse the internet and pick email up at home and often watch a film on it on long train journeys. Recommend.
I have upgraded to windows 10 and there are plenty of guides on the internet to help you do this.

Mine from Staples has a white patch on the screen - can I just take it back to the store for a replacement?

13 Nov 15 1 #35
You could give it a go, ramtec encouraged me to a few months back in an earlier Linx thread. I had my original receipt. The store manager couldn't have been nicer and replaced it without batting an eyelid (I did play up on the "I'm a silly female who is afraid of gadgets and doesn't know what she's doing" thing, ha).

My recommendation is the chuwi vi10 pro 64 gb dual os ( android / win 10) u can pay 15 quid extra and get a magneticly attaching keyboard case which acts as a cover . Also best feature it has 2 x normal sized usbs . Very handy . Speakers are decent as well . You can get from gearbest or tiny deal for about 140 all in . Can't recommend enough
louiselouise to dwtk
12 Nov 15 #34
It's the Chuwi Hi10 I have my eye on, dual-boot does nothing for me, but buying from China means next to no guarantee and sending back at your own expense, which puts me off a bit. http://www.everbuying.net/product1102650.html (not sure about this seller though, or TinyDeal, DealsMachine versus Gearbest and Aliexpress).

Originally was reading reviews on the Telcast X98 Pro (though there's overheating issues). I bought a (apparently rebadged Linx 7) Tecknika Connect 7 for £34.99 recently for my sis (waiting on a tempered glass protector before I give it to her!).

Now looking for a reasonably-powerful circa £300 Windows tablet/keyboard for my niece's Xmas, on behalf of her mum.

I have had four or five of these now. Each either came with an annoying screen pressure issue or developed one soon after. I am very careful, so put this down to manufacturing faults. My current one has two quite large white spots which are particularly annoying when scrolling web content. I could not recommend.

Word of warning. 3 of my colleagues and I all got these at the staples flash sale.

We ALL got the screen breaking issue within 6 months. LINX refuses to deal with it saying it was our fault for breaking it and the screen is not covered under warranty
Best they will do is take our units plus 80 quid each and then ship out refurbished replacements. The do not offer repair of any kind.
Mattevansc3 to gizmodo456
12 Nov 15 #31
They are actually in the right for saying that. A warranty and guarantee are two different things, the warranty being optional. It would be Staple's responsibility to sort your problems out as they'd still be under guarantee.

Thanks to ramtec (sorry to hear you've had ongoing problems with yours) Staples replaced my Linx 10 a few months after purchase, pressure mark issue also. Surprised it seems so common.

If it helps anybody, you can buy a tempered glass protector from aliexpress that fits perfectly for around £8 (Pipo W1). Or £14.99 from an eBay UK seller.
I'm pretty sure there were a few saying on the linxtablet forum that they suspect these (plastic) screens are quite fragile - one user's screen shattered I think (?).

I take good care of my gadgets and always buy cases/screen protectors - the first Linx 10 I had was in a tough Samsonite case and had the factory-fitted screen protector, couldn't understand how it got a pressure mark. To protect the replacement I got a slightly-too-big glass protector which was hidden by my case until I found one that fit properly. No problems with the replacement's screen.

Using Bongiovi DPS to bump up the audio a little, as well.

Screen responsiveness is fine for me, a glass protector gives it a little more. Naturally Windows Desktop mode will be a pain at times without a precision device (mouse/decent stylus) - if you think the 10 is bad, try the 7! Failing that, the member having issues might have a dodgy device.

Excellent tablet, more than happy with mine. Never heard of this white spot issue with the screen before but guess any manufacturer will have isolated faulty units. Those that have managed to break their screens maybe just need to take a bit more care!

Have two of these and only complaint is the battery life isn't great around 6 hours but at this price you cannot complain. Never had any issue with the screen, upgraded to windows 10 and works fine. Runs everything I have tried on it without a problem. An iPad quality it is not but its not ipad prices. That said it is not a bad quality tablet in my opinion.

I bought two of these 10" tablet in the Staples deal last year and they have both been fine. They were as I would expect and with the tablet trade in at the time, and selling the Office 365 subs, they were a great buy.
If I was to pay around £130 for one I would be tempted to pay the £50 or so extra and buy a Dell Venue Pro refurb and get a much better Windows experience with 4GB of RAM, Full HD resolution and 128GB SSD drive. As well as either a i3 or i5 CPU the Dell Venue Pro does give a more pleasing experience and whilst I still enjoy the Linx 10 my Venue Pro is certainly worth the difference, if you can afford it.,

Can't complain about my three and the one that had issues with the screen was promptly replaced with a refurb and no further issues.

Ordered 2 from Staples deal. One arrived with a white spot on it so it was returned...so annoying as they had no more stock left for an exchange. Not bad for Net £20 in the end.

Using it now connected to HDMI monitor, external keyboard, mouse, and 2 browsers with 10+ tabs open, handling it really well. I bought a PIPO W1 tempered glass screen protector for roughly £8 which fits perfectly.

I think at £130 it's a bit too expensive though. The Linx1010 is far better in terms of having a full sized USB port and a much better Keyboard dock.

I had the linx8 which i felt was too small and then got this linx10. The idea of a windows 10" tablet is great but despite me wanting to like this I just couldnt. The touch interface is just downright poor. Its probably due to the screen resolution being so low and the pressure problems others quote. I found myself constantly making compromises for it and becoming increasingly frustrated. I resold mine in the end. I could not recommend.
I have to edit this after reading others comments later about this being good value. I got mine for £95 and sold office for £25 so I only paid £70. It was so frustrating to use even for a 10" tablet at £70 I would not recommend. Trying to use your finger to select a corner or minimise a window.....forget it!
