Been waiting for this deal again. Why would you buy Kettle or Tyrells at silly £2.50 a pack when these are only 79p normally. Or for that matter crappy Walkers? This weekend just 0.39p a pack. Only downside is Lidl never have the Cheddar ones in the deal. We did a blind test with the mainstream ones and out of 6 of us, 4 chose the Lidl over the famous brands!
I shall be in there Sat at 8am and just swoop up a box of 20 ...or more!
Just noted the other half price deals this weekend, Pulled Pork and the 100g Chocolate bars - Tiramisu sounds yummy. Hmmm also .39p

I just saw that (well, limited qty per cust, per household). Last time I was late in on Sunday afternoon and just got a box with one packet, and stuffed it full with the others. No problem at till, was nearly 7 quid if I recall.
As for the tasting test, I gave one bag to a friend and they suggested get their neighbours round (so six of us) as they reckoned Lidl crisps would be ****. Proved them wrong. End of.
The truth behind these types of crisps is Kettle, Tyrell (and M&S, Waitrose, and other crisps too) is they are a rip off. If Lidl can sell them at 79p (as do Aldi, which are comparable - their cheddar/onion ones not as good as Lidl imo though) then you, the customer, is being simply ripped off. If you want to be ripped off, and buy just because it says Kettle etc, fine. I don't.
Re Aldi hand cooked crisps - also 79p but I have never ever seen them reduced as Lidl do. I'm right, am I not?

One good reason why I wouldn't buy is there's only one flavours available on sale!

There isn't one flavour on sale. There is: Sea salt and Balsamic vinegar, Sea salt and crushed black pepper, or lightly salted.....of course, I wish the cheddar one was included.

How does one hand cook a crisp? The oil won't get anywhere near hot enough.

Tried these but not impressed at all. Shame, as their food is otherwise excellent.
Thanks will give these a try. The Snaktastic lights crinkle cut crisps that Lidl sell are also very nice and at 89p for bag of six good value.

We did a blind taste test and this ranked 3rd from 3. Others being Aldi and kettle chips. Aldi and Kc tied.

Very probably. Or Kettle. Or Walkers ...nah not a chance it's Walkers. They're rubbish. They spend all their money on Lineker and advertising. Ever noticed Sainsbury's Basic crisps disappeared off the shelves - I heard it was Walkers want the shelf space. True? I've no idea, but why ditch your own basic crisps for customers who can't afford the expensive ones?

Damn couldve gone today not sure I can make it over the weekend! Great crisps, hope the bbq is included but salt n vinegar is also good. Cheaper than single 30g bags nowadays

99% certain they're made by Tyrell's. I went in late on a Friday evening once when and someone was putting a pallet full of them near the entrance ready for the weekend still wrapped in shrink wrap. At one side under the shrink wrap was a piece of paper and it clearly had Tyrell's printed in a largish font amongst other retail/stock jargon.
So enjoy your super cheap Tyrell's this weekend.

19 Nov 15#25
You've got 3 lots of crisps. 2 of them were a tie result. The LIDL crisps came in third place....
.... What happened to second place?

If you have joint first place then they are also joint second. The remaining one is third.

Same for me, its like a chemical flavouring smell, not right at all. Tried a second bag of the sea salt/balsamic vinegar ones, both the same. So tried salt/black pepper, same again but not as strong. Definately something wrong with the smell or the flavouring, will be taking them back. Maybe a duff batch but seems unlikely given its in two flavours. Be in interested to hear from others?

Because Walkers will have paid them for the shelf space / location. #LittleKnownFactsAboutRetailing

Brand junkies are stupid and refuse to accept that brands are just brands and not a manufacturer! Heinz used to make Kwik Save No Frills baked beans!

Corned beef and tinned salmon is another brand con as they are all canned in the same factories! The brands and the own brands.

You'll notice that with a lot of own brand products. The vast majority are made by the big players. The supermarkets etc just give them certain prices they're willing to pay and the companies deliver. I find for some products I'll happily just buy own brand for that reason, as well as others.

Bought some this morning from Lidl in Blackwater. There was a stack of boxes of crisps on a pallet. I grabbed a load then did the rest of my shopping. It wasn't until I got home and checked the receipt that I saw the Salt & Pepper, and Lightly Salted ones were 39p a bag but the Cheese & Onion ones were charged at 79p a bag (ie, the normal price). Come on Lidl! Either they're on offer or they're not. Don't diddle Lidl! It's bad enough that VW were on the fiddle....
