It's not nice oat's so simple is better porridge

I've eaten a lot of gruel in my time and I would say you can't beat smart price oats at 75p a kg for price and they taste as good as any other

I'm currently eating this at home, it's like particularly dry saw dust, worst of the lot

typically there is a bit of variation in the size of flakes, some brands are too small (i.e dusty) and make gloopy porridge whereas some are quite large and take a while to cook and can create quite a coarse porridge. the ideal mix is somewhere in the middle to make a good porridge with some texture to it, I find that asda smart price porridge is pretty spot on with a variation of flake size which makes good porridge.

if you are making flapjacks or granola large flakes are a lot better and I would highly recommend flahavan's irish porridge oats

i find the lidl porridge is spot on. buy a cheap small measuring jug, measure out about 100ml mark. add 250ml milk. microwave 2.5 mins and perfect porridge! the porridge itself is nice oats, a bit chunky but not large.

I love this- nice big flakes and makes a fab breakfast.
