considering product name should suit amphibious rather than car

Just a shame its no isofix as need one for my ever growing boy! However i dont trust just seatbelt carseats :disappointed: great price though heat added

The Graco Nautilus is a forward-facing group 1/2/3 seat, for toddlers from 9kg right up to children of 36kg (around one to 12 years). The adult seatbelt secures the seat and an older child in place, while an integral harness secures younger children (9 to18kg). Find out how it compares with other multi-group booster seats.

The Nautilus offers reasonable protection for older children, but is less effective for group 1 use.

Safety

Side-crash protection for all ages is acceptable, earning the seat three stars in this test, but it falls a long way short of the Best Buy grade.

In our front-crash tests the seat scores four stars for protecting older children in group 2 3 mode, but two stars when used for toddlers in group 1 mode, as we found that it exposed a younger child to a risk of injury.

Fitting and using the seat

The Graco Naultilus has clear instructions and warning labels, but our experts felt that installing and adjusting the seat, and strapping the child in position, were all too complicated.

The seat offers very good leg support, but the padding is quite hard and the seat shell is quite narrow, meaning space for the child is quite limited.

But the view for the child is quite clear and the overall finish quality is good. Removing and cleaning the seat cover is straightforward.

Overall rating

With a total test score of 52%, the Graco Nautilus has no major flaws, but it falls quite a long way short of our Best Buy threshold.

Updating our tests

In 2011, we changed the car body we use for testing to more accurately reflect the current typical family car seatbelt layout and design. We carried out some repeat testing to ensure that previous tests shown online are broadly comparable to the current ones. However, such a significant change means we can't make absolute comparisons.

Pros: Clear instructions, good finish quality.

Cons: Poor front crash protection, awkward belt routing, overly complicated to install and strap child in, hard padding, narrow seatshell

As long as you fit it correctly it'll be just as safe as isofix, pull the seatbelt all the way out when fitting it and pull it really tight, you'll be amazed at how secure they are when the belts pulled tight enough. Isofix holds the seat in place at the bottom only, seat belt seats secure at bottom and further up too.

spend a little more and buy a joie stages and keep your little one rear facing longer :smiley:
