How often can you save game playing this? I stopped Far Cry 3 because I would sometimes die and lose half an hour of playing even though I kept trying to save every five minutes.

Whenever you like! You can just hit the start menu and select to save as and when.
I'd seriously recommend this game. Its like GTA 5 in Tibet.

I thought that was the case in Far Cry 3 as well but it just didn't work for me. It put me off playing any further as I only have a few hours a week to play anyway and kept loosing lots of gameplay.
