Never played a Fallout game before, and don't fancy spending £35 for Fallout 4. Is new Vegas a good starting point? Is the DLC supposed to be any good?

DLC is excellent, though I wasn't a massive fan of Honest Hearts, at least storyline-wise. I'd say probably go Fallout 3 first, but up to you.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas are excellent games. I have Fallout 4 on PC and to be honest I'm disappointed, it's a decent game still but the graphics could be from a PS3 game, I really wanted a Fallout game with modern graphics. I'm running the game on Ultra using my Radeon R9 270, so you might tell from that, that's it's not a graphical taxing game on hardware.

I would go for Fallout 3 Game of the year edition. Liked it a lot better than New Vegas which I got bored with & didn't even finish. If you're playing it on a console prepare for crashes & slow ass loading times.

Fallout 3 - you can get the dlc for that too. It's old but still has great gameplay & atmosphere. New Vegas is great too just not quite as good imo

For £3.70 the dlc great, though it's a mixed bag with people (all are good but some prefer one over the other)
I recommend getting both this and fallout 3 (start from fallout 3)

you wanna play Fallout 3. The DLC is also cheap for that game.

New Vegas is my favourite. I haven't finished 3 though. But I seriously loved New Vegas. I bought 4, but not played it yet. Finishing MGSV first xD

Great game, shame the further you get through it there are bugs due to the way it saves on the PS3, go for Fallout 3, less buggy. I had to stop playing this on PS3 due to it becoming unplayable with it freezing later on in the game

Best to play this and 3 on Xbox 360 as there are less chances of slow-down / freezing. I think it was to do with the PS3 version automatically creating massive save files which became bigger and bigger the more you progressed. Some say it was patched, others not.

I just remember this game running like crap on my decent gaming computer at the time.

the ps3 version runs perfectly at early stages, however when the save file exceeds 7 mb the game starts crashing at random stages.

Odd how the ultimate edition with all DLC was never available for much reduced on PC

microsoft had a sale on the Fallout DLC's last month for quite a cheap price, think it was in prep for Fallout 3 being backward compatible! sure they will again at some point

If you need the game as well, The Game Collection have the game for £4.95 new. Add the DLC here and the complete package is only £8.65, cheaper than the Ultimate Edition package is anywhere I can see.
