Are you guys all making sure to disable Fallout's in-game v-sync, unlock the frame-rate, and then enable v-sync in Nvidia/AMD control panel?
Makes a huge difference. I went from 50-60fps (locked at 60) to 110fps locked.
Also turn down god rays, they don't make a massive aesthetic difference, but it's very resource intensive.

It's a shame the consoles can't do 1080p at 60 fps on a consistent basis. That really should be the standard. I keep saying it, the PS4 and Xbox are way under powered.
Have to agree with others though, 40 fps drops is hardly unplayable. PC owners also benefit from being able to play around with settings to get the desired frame rate.

If you are having frame-rate drops when you get to a busy bit of screen, weirdly enough it may not be a graphics problem. It might be down to your sound-card. If you have a separate sound-card, but also have on-board sound, try removing the card and just running with the sound off your motherboard. I had an X-Fi Platinum and after moving to the latest version of World of Tanks I had all sorts of frame rate drops to 16fps when it got "busy". Binned the sound-card and I'm back up and running at 65fps. Worth a shot. It's why we love PCs :-)

Ahhh this old chestnut again. Could you do me a favour and go back to before the launch and get me a copy for £26? I'll arrange payment over Paypal as soon as you've got it... until then... I'm guessing this is the cheapest it's available at now? So.... hot....

Cold, cos cdkeys.
Price was 26 before launch, then 28, then 32, now 28 again.
Plus this bunch of clowns wont give you the key you have already paid for until they have then spam-harvested your phone number. Its not a verification step at all, you could use a burner to 'verify'.
The game is awesome however.

How long until this is on a humble bundle? Should I wait?
Battenberg to JoseChupachup
17 Nov 15#40
Seriously? How many Bethesda games have you seen in Humble bundles ever? There is virtually no chance of this being in a bundle of any kind for at least a year, probably 2 imo. I genuinely wouldn't be suprised if it never made it into any bundle but if it did I would assume it'd be in a monthly one (assuming they're still going that long from now).
That said I imagine it'll have dropped a decent chunk in price/ gone on some kind of sale by December/ January down to to around the £20 mark. Of course if you really want to play it this sounds like a pretty good price for a game I would expect to give you 40 hours of unique content at the absolute minimum (possibly hundreds of hours based on other Bethesda games).

Not my type of game but bought it for my lad just before it dropped price !. He's knocked up 54hrs so far lol ! It's a shame it doesn't support triple monitor setup saying he's got 3 screens only playing it on one !.
I've read quite a few accounts of people experiencing the same, also saw someone on youtube with my spec running mostly on ultra at a solid 60. Tried a reinstall of the game and my drivers, and I've tried all sorts of ini tweaks. Might dig my GTX 670 out and see how it runs on that.

Typical bought this last night from cdkeys at £30.30 with code.....
Graphics could be better even though i'm running it at ultra settings on my i7/980/32gb ram and seems pretty solid at 60fps even when there's a crap load going on.

I bought this for £31.90 from CDkeys and was well worth it. So at this price its a must! I've used Cdkeys a number of times and havent had any problems. Might buy the fallout 4 season pass for £15.99

Your hardware should easily be able to run that game at 60FPS, so definitely out of principle i wouldn't be forced to endure anything less then 60 frames as well.

The guy said he played with his settings and he still gets frame drops in the same places regardless of settings. This seems to be quite a common "bug" on pc(and i've read this has become an issue on consoles too). But i honestly can say, 40FPS is something people will not put up with. In my experience people would rather lower settings then lower the frames, and when that makes no difference alot will quit the game(maybe until a patch that fixes it) or refund it.
40FPS will be fine for those who only have the hardware for 40FPS, but when you KNOW you should be able to maintain 60+ and you can't, then that's when **** hits the fan.
When you're used to 60FPS you just won't go any lower. I could maybe deal with 50FPS but definitely not 40 or lower.

It's too close to console peasantry for my liking.
Guess I'm just sensitive to frame rates, I find 60 OK but anything less feels unplayable. I don't know how anyone can play when frame rates are jumping all over the place, its a locked 60+ for me or nothing.
I cranked the settings and resolution down so low it looks like a SNES game but the best I can get the lows up to is 50, still to juddery.
New I should have waited, but that was never going to happen.

Run along...we know 40FPS would be like heaven for people like you, but it wouldn't for many of us "elitist's". Especially when you have sufficient hardware to theoretically run at a stable 60FPS.

:disappointed: 6 hours in and I'm having to quit playing due to huge frame rate drops. i5/r9 290/16gb. Solid 60fps until you get near built up areas, then down to 40fps, even on the lowest settings. Guess I have to wait for a patch.

The reason behind this is because they were active on /r/GameDeals but then banned and currently active on HUKD. By changing their prices up and down they are continuously visible on HUKD every few days.

As someone else said you need the 5% off code from facebook to get it down to £27.03. Go HERE, hit like, and type any old nonsense into the box asking for your email (doesn't even have to be a real email address) and you'll get a code to get 5% off. They change the code something like twice and hour so it'll only be valid for a short time if you want to use it (although you can always get another code later if you need to).

Great find. Personally never had an issue with CDKEYS. And truly weary of InstantGaming with the controversy surrounding HiPay and the need to send photo id for the initial PayPal use.
