I got the EU Banggood deal on this (delivered in 3 days from a warehouse in Greenford), and I must say I'm astonished at the value for money with this phone. NOTE: You need to remove a cellophane cover over the battery contacts for the phone to charge/work - I thought I had a DOA unit until I came across a helpful forum member who had mentioned this.
TOP TIP: You can change a host of baked-in settings on the phone, and test the various hardware elements, by accessing the engineering menu - just open the dialler and type *#*#3646633#*#* . Do note you have to know what you're doing with this, you may damage or brick your phone. I used this to increase the max volume over the headphones. For CE certification, Brussels insists on a certain max volume which I find too low on most phones.
Here are my thoughts on the phone so far:
THE GOOD:
-The build, while completely plasticky on the outside, feels surprisingly solid and there's no obvious flex. Joins are smooth, it feels well put together.
- -Runs almost stock Lollipop with very few crappiola baked-in bloatware apps, which can be disabled (e.g. Xender). The installed Lollipop ROM is also a full English ROM, no Chinese lettering anywhere and works perfectly. However I'm so used to running Nova launcher on my phones that I installed it straight away. Running Nova, in real-world use, I cannot tell the difference in speed with my LG G2 which is no slouch. Ran Antutu v5.7.1 after I had installed all my apps and rebooted phone twice - I get around 20,000 which is definitely a mid-range figure. Some reviewers have got over 30,000, not sure how!
- The 720p IPS screen is truly superb. Bold, punchy colours, great viewing angles, VERY bright, good contrast. The brightness sensor works well and I leave it on the auto-brightness setting. Good touch response as well. Really don't see much between this screen and the 1080p screen on the LG G2. Doogee have spent their money where it matters.
-Battery is GOOD, gives me 1.5 days on moderate use. Original Doogee replacements (!!) available on the bay for 7-10 quid delivered. A 1080p screen may not do well on the 2400mAh battery, but 720p appears to be the sweet spot. Thinking of getting a spare battery or two now for later, Chinese vendors aren't known for their product support a few years (or months!) down the line.
-Dual 4G (micro)SIM slots which are dual stand-by. Lollipop has native support for dual SIMs, can select which SIM should be used for voice/data etc. Would be a fantastic utility on holidays.
-The microSD slot is separate from the dual (micro)SIM slots, a nice design feature. Many dual SIM phones have only two slots so one SIM slot needs to be sacrificed to use a microSD card. Works fine with a 64GB Class 10 card, would probably work with a 128GB but I have none to test.
-GSM mobile antennae appear to be more sensitive than those on my LG G2 - I was pleasantly surprised. I now get reception - albeit 1-2 bars - within my office building which is a pretty decent Faraday cage; data slows down to EDGE speed when I'm inside, I had none at all with the LG G2.
-Call quality is excellent through the earphone, there's a single speaker and it's clear without distortion at max volume. Spotify through the headphone port sounds very decent with my Soundmagic E10's, cannot tell the difference against my LG G2 which uses a premium Wolfson DAC and at the time was a favourite amongst audiophiles.
-GPS locks spot on, took about 5 seconds to get an initial fix in my car and Google Maps worked perfectly. GPS does not appear to pick up Russian Glonass satellites, but it doesn't appear to matter and who gives an ass about Glonass anyway! I'm quite impressed by the sensitivity of the GPS on this one - according to GPSTest, I get 10-12 satellites enabling a 3D fix with accuracy to around 10 feet inside my home on a cloudy day. MTK chips appear to have come a long way since their early days when GPS issues were rampant and some phones would not provide a signal accurate enough for in-car navigation.
-No discernible lag. Moves fluidly between screens, between apps and can switch between 3 or 4 tabs on Chrome without lag. Haven't installed any graphics intensive games but I don't game on my phones much. The 2GB of RAM definitely helps, I usually have over 1GB free at most times.
-A full scan with Avast mobile security decreed the phone has no dodgy apps/ security threats. Not sure how reliable this verdict is but is better than nothing.
--Energy sipping Bluetooth 4.0 (LE) works well. Connected to my Android Wear watch first time, connects to the car for music and calls without issues.Good Bluetooth range, hasn't dropped out yet while playing music or calling.
THE BAD
-The plastic body and screen protector are fingerprint/oil magnets, definitely no oleophobic coating here!
-Uninspiring design, resembles a brick but is a perfectly pocketable size. Very plasticky all around and you do feel it, it's one of those phones that doesn't even pretend to be made of metal. Quite slippery in the hand. There are custom cases for this on BangGood. The placement of the power button, on the middle of the right edge of the phone, is actually quite ergonomic for right-handed users.
-The camera - The main camera is 5MP, acceptable in daylight, however colours are muted/ lower saturation than I see from the LG G2 camera. Sharpness could be better. Obviously cannot compare to a flagship camera but it is usable under good lighting and not the blurry, washed out mess some cheap Chinese phones are saddled with. There's significant noise in low light, though the flash does help a bit. The camera app is standard Lollipop. Am impressed by the speed of the camera. There's also a 2MP selfie camera which is adequate for purpose, nothing more. I wouldn't buy this phone if a good camera was a priority. This is the Achilles' heel of most cheap phones.
-Removing the case to insert a micro SD card requires a little patience as you could end up damaging the tabs that hold it to the frame otherwise. Once you get the hang of it it's fine. You obviously don't need to do this often. Had the same problem with my LG G2, in fact that was harder to prise apart.
-Both the microUSB port and headphone ports are located at the top of the device. This position doesn't feel natural, and charging in the car can be awkward with a cable sticking out from the top of the phone. Not a big issue though, you get used to it.
- No 5GHz wifi band, but I don't really see much of a difference in speed with 2GHz. Netflix works perfectly on both 2GHz wifi and 4G
-The three capacitive buttons on the bottom of the phone have no backlighting, but you get used to their positions.
-Had to download some Google Apps but all work perfectly including YouTube, Photos, Gmail etc
-The NatWest banking app refuses to run, not sure if it's rooted out of the box but not too bothered for now. All other apps including the mainstream ones work perfectly e.g. Netflix, Spotify, Viber, WhatsApp, Skye, Flipboard, Outlook, TuneIn, Pocketcast etc.
- Product support - Neither BangGood nor Doogee has a support network in the UK or EU. There was a label on the box stating that the product cannot be returned to their warehouse in Greenford. If it breaks down, I'll have to bite the bullet and keep it as the shipping costs to China will probably be close to what I paid for the phone.
--There was a 2-pin white charger included in the box, however this had an ominous label 'Not to be used in the UK'!!. Not sure why as it was rated 100-240V. Being fairly wary of cheapo chargers in general, I tested my Samsung and Nook 2A chargers and both worked perfectly.
For 50 quid I'm over the moon. Don't miss my LG G2 at all except for the camera. I was planning to keep this for emergencies and holidays but have been using it as my main phone. Truly a magnificent phone for this price point.
You can buy 12 of these for the price of an iPhone 6S, now isn't that incredible.

No problems at all. I really do wish people would comment on or compare like for like when they post their feedback - I know they're trying to be helpful, but getting models mixed up does not help matters. I've seen it a number of times where comments have been made on the X5 when the product being talked about is the X5 Pro.
This is the first time I've bought a smartphone from a distributor in China (BangGood) and there were many people saying that they were happy with their phones and some complained about the build quality of the mobiles (such as the plastic case on the back). At just under £50 each for the X5 Pro, the new owners of the mobiles are very happy with their phones and they're a massive step up from the Samsung mobiles they had before. They like the screen size and resolution, the Android installation isn't full of useless (or Chinese apps, as reported with other phone models from China) apps.
For a sub-£50 smartphone, I'm amazed at what you get for your money. I'm also pleased that updates are coming through to fix any bugs and that's something that buyers of other brands of smartphones have complained about and brought to light. In this instance Doogee seem to be on the ball - for how long, I don't know.
Don't expect much from the cameras in the X5 Pro, but they haven't been bought for that particular feature and it's a common niggle with cheap smartphones. The camera is still better than the one in the Samsung phones that were used before.
The new owners of the X5 Pro mobiles were going to renew their 24-month contracts with Three and get a new phone, but I thought the mobile they would get (another Samsung) didn't look as good as the X5 Pro and the screen was smaller and when testing in the shop ran slow and was a little unresponsive. So, I bought a black and white X5 Pro for them and put them onto a SIM only contract in which they will save money compared to renewing their phone contract over a two year term.
Even if the phones only last a year (I expect them to last longer than that), buying them and going onto a SIM only contract has worked out a much better and cheaper option.
EDIT
I placed a pre-order for the two Doogee X5 Pro mobiles on BangGood on the 14th October 2015. They were in stock before the predicted date and were delivered on the 26th October 2015. When the phones arrived and the users were happy with them, I also placed an order for two cases from BangGood and I'm still waiting for delivery for those items.
The sub-£50 price reference to the X5 Pro was achieved with a 10% off code when bought through the BangGood app. However, there's currently a 6% off code for BangGood (banner at the top of their website) and you may be able to get cashback through Quidco or TopCashback which could bring it into the sub-£50 bracket. On the subject of cashback, other items bought from BangGood by going through TopCashback have had quick payouts - much quicker than many of the other companies listed on TopCashback.

That's how I'm understanding it too, though I have been told the Nokia Lumia 640 DOES give the second sim card a 3g signal so a 3 sim would work as secondary, i'm waiting someone to confirm this:)

28 Nov 15#199
From what I can gather, only one SIM card can be 3G or 4G and the remaining slot must be used by a network SIM card that has a 2G signal. As Three (3) only has 3G and 4G signals, the second SIM card would not, as far as I am aware, work with another Three SIM card. I suspect it would work with other providers that have a 2G signal - e.g O2.
So, to summarise and from what I've heard: One SIM card for 3/4G and one for 2G.
If you have a Three SIM card as your main number, the other SIM card would, I guess, have to be on a different network that has a 2G signal. I've not read anywhere that says multi-SIM card phones have the ability to pull in two 3/4G signals on both slots. I have read elsewhere that the second slot is for 2G only though.

28 Nov 151#198
I have the Doogee nova y100x and sure a three sim works just fine UNLESS you set it as the non data sim, in which case the phone sets it to 2g which 3 sims seem unable to handle as they need 4g or 3g to work.
So does this Doogee work differently in that it sets the SECOND sim card to 3g or 4g whilst the main data sim is 4g ?
mattashhall
27 Nov 15#197
Yep I agree as my wife has one of these phones also and she has a Virgin sim in one and FreedomPop in the other and she has the same issue that if she activates data on the FreedomPop sim she can only receive a 2G signal on the Virgin sim. This is regardless of which slot they are in, so 3G can be received in the 2nd slot but then the 1st slot is reduced to 2G so it would appear that they can't run 3G in both slots :-(
cochon
27 Nov 151#196
Mmm, maybe not, I've just swapped my SIMS around and still get 3G (occasionally 4G, poor signal here) on the 3 SIM now in the second slot, still only 2G on the Voda SIM . So for me it's more likely a band or cell problem here with Vodaphone. Not conclusive, will have to find another SIM to try later.
Edit:... and indeed I do have a Giffgaff (O2) SIM in an old 6310 (don't laugh, it's still going strong), needed some scissors to get it into the X5. A bit of experimentation later it appears all 3 of MY SIMs will work at 3G in either SIM slot, BUT only the one designated as the data SIM gets the 3G signal, the other SIM falls bag to 'G' (2G).
If I have the Vodaphone and O2 in, I can swap 3G between the 2, the other falling back to 2G regardless of which slot they're in, but if I have the 3 and O2 combination I can still swap data between the SIMs, but the 3 SIM gets no coverage at all unless it's the one designated as the data SIM.
So looks like you're out of luck wanting to use 2 3G only SIMs.
Hard to say if it's a hardware restriction or a Lollipop quirk, or a combination of both.
cochon
27 Nov 15#194
I suspect it is a chipset issue, it was common in older generation Chinese phones, pre-4G, that only the first SIM would support 3G.
I've recently received my X5, bought from an e-bay reseller in the UK rather than the bangbest shops. I can only get 2G on a Sainsbury's (Vodaphone) SIM in the second slot.
It's not really an issue for me as I don't 'need' data on the second SIM, it's just useful as an emergency call/SMS backup when out in the wilds. And yes I am aware that Sainsbury's are pulling the plug in Jan.
mattashhall to cochon
27 Nov 15#195
So basically the claims of 4G/3G in both SIMs are incorrect then as it only supports 4G/3G in one slot and 2G in the other!
mattashhall
27 Nov 15#193
Got mine, but I can't seem to get 3G/4G on both sims. I am using a Three sim in one and FreedomPop in the 2nd but can only have one activated at a time as the 2nd sim will only recognise 2G which isn't supported on Three or FreedomPop(that also uses the Three network). Anyone else had this problem or has a solution?

Generally, it seems to be pot luck. However, the larger / more expensive a package looks, the greater the chances of it being inspected.
This equally applies to anything you purchase using DHL etc as the courier - you receive it and think you've got away with the duty, then the annoying fe.ckers send you an extortionate bill for the duty a few days later.

13 Nov 151#139
That's not the case. Pre-advised means that they've been notified that it's been sent from China, it doesn't change from that until Post NL actually receives it from there. Once they do it will then track properly from The Netherlands, although you may need to track on Royal Mail once it reaches the UK (if you are from there anyway).

I am sorry to say that having ordered this phone from GearBest I must say that I am not impressed & I am in fact worried whether my order has been sent!
Ordered 31st October
Supposedly sent 5th November
Tracking not working - advised to wait 3-5 days
Today (5 days later), advised to wait 3-5 days
Threatened paypal dispute if not tracking within 48 hours
Tracking now says "10-11-2015 09:12 The item is pre-advised"
Now to me that looks like:
Item not sent when said (not even sent yet perhaps)
Suspiciously it went "pre-advised" just after I threatened a paypal dispute
What is the consensus, should I be worried?
Reading1800 to jnm21
11 Nov 15#106
No, sometimes they are slow, mine went through the same and even after pre-advised status it still took 4 days for them to ship it. After that is was in UK in about 5 days and its pot luck if it goes straight through are gets stuck at customs for another 5 days. Ordered these from various sites before but unless you use airmail or EU warehouse they can take up to a month. Got to balance that against savings.

It stays that way for a week or two until it actually arrives in the netherlands from china then finally updates.

Don't get me wrong, not complaining about the time (though for an 'in stock' phone, I would have thought it would ship in under 11 days, no matter how much they charge). I read people talking about fake tracking references - googling "GearBest fake tracking reference" scared me!

All mail that enters the United Kingdom may be examined by customs, but normally letters, postcards and packets containing only documents or similar forms of correspondence are excluded.
If you are receiving an item from overseas (unless it’s from another EU country), please be aware that it may incur customs charges. Any item assessed as being liable for customs charges will also incur a Royal Mail handling fee of £8.
Any goods imported into the UK over the value of £15 are liable to import VAT. Gifts between private individuals over the value of £36 are also liable for VAT. Goods and gifts over these values may also be liable for customs duty. You no longer have to pay customs duty for goods up to the value of £135, however you will still be required to pay import VAT and excise duty where applicable.
Please note that these limits do not apply to alcohol and tobacco goods where both excise duty and import VAT may be charged. It is not permitted to send alcohol and tobacco products into the UK from another EU country unless prior arrangements have been made to account for the excise duty.

Thank you for that tip! I just picked up mine, had been shipped from a PO Box in Greenford. The screen was covered in dust and fingerprints when I received it, otherwise it looks new. The bundled 2-pin white charger has an ominous sticker on the side 'This product cannot be used in the UK'. Interesting, as the specs state 100-240V input. Being wary of OEM Chinese chargers anyway, I tried charging it with my trusty 2A micro USB charger - nothing happened. Was about to post here that I have a DOA unit when I saw your post, removed the battery terminal covering (why!!) and plugged in again. It started charging fine, the battery was completely dead though.
First impressions are for 50 quid it is a very good deal. Screen is clear, colours punchy and viewing angles good. Touch screen response ok. My one concern is the battery which at 2400mAh is not great for a 5-incher (not sure about the actual capacity as these guys do tend to overestimate battery capacity in general :-). The battery however is powering only a 720p screen, not 1080p, so just might be ok. Will post a more detailed review when I've had a few days with it.

Do you end up throwing them in the bin? If you're getting through a lot of phones could you pop them in the post and send them to be recycled, even if you don't earn much money in doing so. They should cover the cost of the postage. There's a lot of dodgy ethical and environmental practices that go into the production of smartphones, especially mining of rare earth metals so you'd be a great service to the environment if you recycled the phones.

I have the original version which has less RAM so will be slower. I used it as my main phone for a week and didn't find it to be slow or laggy. The only app that was annoyingly slower was the Chrome browser but that's a resource hog anyway. I suspect the more demanding games wouldn't run very well. Check Youtube for reviews to get an idea.
I was only in a hurry to switch back to my Nexus because of the poor camera and because I wanted to try out Android 6.
I actually preferred the screen on the X5. Although the resolution is lower, you don't really notice and more space is usable because of the separate buttons below the screen.

I purchased the two X5 Pro mobiles from BangGood in China. There wasn't any stock in the Eurorpean or UK warehouses when I placed the order last month and I know that ones that were available in the UK/Europe went quickly. If memory serves me right, I think that the predicted re-stock date in China was about the 25th October 2015, but they came back into stock sooner than that and I received the phones on the 26th October.
I've found that for recorded delivery items, it's usually 7-10 days from the date the parcel gets to this stage in the shipping process: Processed Through Sort Facility - FLYTEXPRESS-CN
The cases are taking longer to arrive than the phones.
BangGood (China) currently shows the X5 Pro phones as being in stock, so I would expect delivery in the next two weeks if you placed an order today. However, there really are no guarantees on that front and there are no guarantees that stocks will be shipped to the UK/European warehouses.

It was the Three mobile app that wouldn't install on the phone that wasn't updated and I spent some time trying to work out if there was a problem with the Google account. I went through all of the settings on the web version of the Play Store and then it dawned on me that I'd downloaded but not installed the update on the second phone. As soon as that phone was updated, the apps downloaded and installed fine.

Further to my post earlier about the long shipping delays from gearbest for the doogee F3 pro. I got an automated reply giving same excuses as a month ago. However they did offer a different colour which I've accepted. So we'll see how long before I get it! Unfortunately it doesn't give me any confidence in buying from them again!

I have recently set up two X5 Pro mobile phones and they work fine on the Three network. I'm not sure what the problem is with the poster who says the phone wouldn't work for them.
The specifications show the frequency bands that are used and the black and white X5 Pro mobiles indicate that they are on 3G or 4G (service/signal dependent). The X5 (not the X5 Pro) may have limitations on the frequency bands and may not be compatible. Perhaps that poster would like to clarify whether they have the X5 or the X5 Pro?
Having seen a few posts from people on various X5 Pro topics, quite a few have got the models mixed up and have confused matters by talking about or comparing the prices of two different models.
When the phones arrived two weeks ago, there was an update that was needed to access the Play Store. I set up one phone with the update and all was well, but I only downloaded (not installed) the update on the second phone and there were compatibility issues with some apps on the Play Store and they wouldn't download. When I applied the update to the second phone, the apps in the Play Store were then compatible and were available to download and install.
On the subject of updates, there was another one that came through last night. Positive news that if bugs are found, they're working on them to fix them.

Bought this phone from Banggood was surprised it arrived in just 9 days with basic delivery, I didn't use much as it's a gift for friend, the only thing disappoints me is the casing which is cheap and cover is very flimsy, also I have tried different network and noticed its not picking up 3 network signals, overall I would it's a lovely phone at this price, call quality is good also, taking micro sims on both slots

I had also ordered the f3 in black, when it was showing in stock. I enquired after about 4-5 weeks to be told they had sold out and were expecting stock in 7-15 days, so I waited and still no update. I then contacted them again and was asked if I wanted to swap for another item, so I did for the same phone but in white. It was dispatched a few days later and should be due on Tuesday. I've been charged £20 import tax, but apparently thats because I went with the expedited delivery. I've heard you don't get charged it if you go with their standard postal services.

So, which side is the sim card slot that is only 2g??
i decided to keep to decent brand didnt like the software or camera
if you want to sell it , i would be interested
So, to summarise and from what I've heard: One SIM card for 3/4G and one for 2G.
If you have a Three SIM card as your main number, the other SIM card would, I guess, have to be on a different network that has a 2G signal. I've not read anywhere that says multi-SIM card phones have the ability to pull in two 3/4G signals on both slots. I have read elsewhere that the second slot is for 2G only though.
So does this Doogee work differently in that it sets the SECOND sim card to 3g or 4g whilst the main data sim is 4g ?
Edit:... and indeed I do have a Giffgaff (O2) SIM in an old 6310 (don't laugh, it's still going strong), needed some scissors to get it into the X5.

This equally applies to anything you purchase using DHL etc as the courier - you receive it and think you've got away with the duty, then the annoying fe.ckers send you an extortionate bill for the duty a few days later.
Lol, no wonder why people are using other providers with there pricing structure these days
If you pay customs charge but not royal mail. As delivery was already included kn yout purchase
Thanks again for setting my mind at ease!
I searched and says Pre-advised means we haven't received it yet
so that means gearbest haven't shipped at all
as postnl don't have it that's what pre=advised means
Ordered 31st October
Supposedly sent 5th November
Tracking not working - advised to wait 3-5 days
Today (5 days later), advised to wait 3-5 days
Threatened paypal dispute if not tracking within 48 hours
Tracking now says "10-11-2015 09:12 The item is pre-advised"
Now to me that looks like:
Item not sent when said (not even sent yet perhaps)
Suspiciously it went "pre-advised" just after I threatened a paypal dispute
What is the consensus, should I be worried?
Have you heard anything yet .
Mine came with Yodel.

Also you have little chance - I seem to be 2 days ahead of you and I don't think mine has been sent. :disappointed:
And your one cost a few small £Pounds more than that of the OP's Deal too?, lol.
Happening too often now

No issues so far. Yes, photos are not great unless I go HDR mode but you can't always do that. I have Vivo phones where the photos are just fantastic.
For about £50, I would recommend it.
You may be disappointed with the camera though.
well I going to resell mine when i get it as I like to have battery life that will last a full day of using internet etc
Be aware that there is a little cellophane cover over the battery terminals that need to be removed before use
Will post a more detailed review when I've had a few days with it.

but remember, it is a cheap phone, ignore the claimed specs, it will be slow and laggy but that is why it costs £50!
I was only in a hurry to switch back to my Nexus because of the poor camera and because I wanted to try out Android 6.
I actually preferred the screen on the X5. Although the resolution is lower, you don't really notice and more space is usable because of the separate buttons below the screen.
You guessed it, I'm with Three
This is the first time I've bought a smartphone from a distributor in China (BangGood) and there were many people saying that they were happy with their phones and some complained about the build quality of the mobiles (such as the plastic case on the back).
Can anyone confirm?
Positive news that if bugs are found, they're working on them to fix them.
went via topcashback also, so lets see
I have the slightly cheaper non-4 G version and it's amazing for the money.
or am i missing something
