They don't make many decent cars. The two stand out French cars whether you like them or loathe them are the Citroen DS3 and Citroen Cactus. The problem with French cars is the huge depreciation, you'd be literally crazy to buy one new.

Good luck with that plan. Even if it didn't depreciate (which it will) you'd be lucky for a 1500 C1 to last 12 months without either falling apart or costing more than it's worth. I know, I used to do the whole cheap throwaway car thing, but for the last 4 years have leased and haven't looked back.

Looks like all credibility gained from this post went out the window as soon as £60, exhaust and Kwik-Fit appeared in the same sentence.

What is this company like to deal with? Do they give you a hard time over any tiny scratch at the end of the year? I've never leased before so I'm not sure what to expect.

FRENCH!!!!!!!

Not really French as such. They're all made in the Czech Republic under a joint venture with Peugeot/Citroen and Toyota. The C1, Peugeot 108 and Toyota Aygo are all one and the same, just rebranded and with different trims.
I had a C1 a few weeks ago as a courtesy car and was actually quite impressed with it. Round town it was quite nippy and good to drive and it was sort of acceptable on the motorway. Not that I would want to do regular long commutes in one though!

No it's not: it's mostly Toyota, made in a joint factory in E Europe. It's WAY better than a French car but don't let ignorance get in the way of a 'clever' comment! Not sure of the relevance of your comments to this deal but it's lucky then that this car is largely Toyota and not built in France.

I fully understand now the scepticism around some French brands. I had to buy a wheelchair-adapted auto Renault Kangoo for my daughter recently as she has special needs. The car was only 4 years old (2010, reg in 2011) with an incredibly low 7500 miles on the clock. Had been fully maintained by Motability. Looking at the Motability service record, I noticed with alarm that the gearbox had gone in for a major rebuild at 3.5K miles!! A gearbox rebuild at 3500 miles.
Hoping the dealer will honour the warranty I received if anything goes wrong, but I'm not sure. Unfortunately the Japs don't make small, easily wheelchair-adabtable cars so the choice was between this and the almost identical Peugeot Partner.
Had a 2005 Honda Jazz prior, did not break down once in 5 years of ownership with 30K put on the clock. Just regular servicing, wipers and an exhaust replacement which cost 60 quid at KwikFit. The last 4 MOTs had no advisories.
Have huge respect for Hondas and Toyotas.
