then pay via PayPal. so if it dose turn up broken you can make a claim via PayPal.
It's a windows pc / android tv box. Use it to turn your tv smart, as a media player, streamer, web browser, basic games console, etc.

Maybe as they want a PC and not a tablet??? I don't see being a tablet as a benefit at all so all depends what they want to use it for

because it's a tablet and this is a mini pc..they offer different features. If someone wants this to conenct to their TV 24/7, how useful is a tablet going to be? Not convenient at all

The trouble with the tablets are that when connected to a TV they rarely work without issues.
Usually the resolution is wrong as its different on the TV to the tablet.
Then there is the issue of charging whilst also have a mouse/keyboard and possibly a hard drive/ flash drive connected. Thats a bit difficult with only 1 micro USB port ( which is also the charging point ).

He's right about them asking for copies of passport, bank statement and drivers licence. He's also right about them selling phones with malware installed. I tried to buy a Lenovo phone from them - which I knew would have malware installed - I wasn't too bothered about that because I knew the score and I intended to install a clean rom anyway. But I never got that far because they asked me for a copy of my bank statement etc. There is no way I was going to send these to a Chinese reseller, especially one where people had complained about fraud on their card after using them, so I told them to forget it. All fine except after I told them to cancel they then charged my credit card. It only took a week or so for the money to come back but with fluctuating exchange rates I was over a pound down. OK they might not be as dodgy as some people make out but I'm not impressed with their CS and I don't trust them.

To me, the deal isn't good enough to risk a problem with the supplier, even if PayPal will refund, even if most people get the delivery on time without customs charges. I don't like the fake "Cenovo" branding, obviously meant to confuse with Lenovo, nor the erroneous "32GB ROM" spec (it's internal flash memory, not read-only). Like others have said, a tablet will do the job at about this price, or if you just want to smarten a TV, most of the function is available more cheaply from a NOW TV box or the like (which will also have a remote). I just use a long HDMI cable from my laptop.
The one thing I might use this for, as it has Windows, is as a controller for a surveillance webcam. I have several of these, and used to use old desktop computers to run them (with Contacam software that handles movement detection and network accessibility), but have been changing over to old laptops to cut the power requirement. But this doesn't have enough storage as it comes, so would need a big USB stick added for this task, and then you come up against the single USB port also used for power.

That's for tablets. This box has a dedicated power socket, 2 full size usb and 1 micro usb. It also uses a miniscule amount of power, about 18W.

Anyone found a USB power cable for this?
AndyRoyd to forcedv
24 Nov 15#42
The connectors should be straightforward, but the interconnecting cable may prove to be more problematic. Assuming the Clenovo uses a 4.0mm x 1.7mm power connector, USB power cables can be sourced on the bay for about £1.85 delivered ex-UK (similar to PSP power cable), although most will have a max rating of 2amps, whereas the Cenovo & Ainol are rated at 2.5amps or 3amps depending who is selling it, and an earlier post in this thread stated 18W power consumption which is approaching 4amps. You might be able to locate a suitable cable that is rated to 4amps but I can't immediately find one. A 2A cable may be fine if the device is not going to be persistently heavily stressed, but clearly a 2amp cable is not ideal.

The cpu is about on a par with a core2duo from 5 or 6 years ago. The gpu is intel hd 7th gen. So capable enough for most browsing experiences. It even handles some fairly modern games pretty well like Mirror's Edge. Yes it's fanless and silent. Not sure about linux, though I've seen forums where it's been done on similar boxes. These intel devices seem quite generic with the same specs and hardware.
The Atom Z3735F cpu in this box scores 901 on cpubenchmark:
mine also arrived today, aesthetically it is a nice bit of kit.
will have a fiddle (ooh-er) later and report my views from an average pc user viewpoint.

Hi everyone, would this suffice as a desktop PC replacement? My Sister has got a ten year old Dell 9150, and it's showing it's age. She only uses it for basic tasks such as watching You Tube videos and browsing etc.
And just how are some of the clever people on here getting Windows 10 installed on this device? What's the cheapest way of getting a MS OS on it?
My Sister has a monitor that's VGA-only. Would that be a problem?
Many thanks

For your sister's requirements this would definitely suffice. Youtube and browsing are a breeze on it. It comes with Windows 8, legitimate and activated, and can be easily updated to Windows 10 through Windows Update or from the tool on the Microsoft website. You'd need a HDMI to VGA adapter for that monitor, a few quid on ebay. It also comes with a 1-year Microsoft Office license which, if you don't need it, can be sold on ebay for £25-£30, bringing the total for this device to £25/£30. Bargain.

Don't fully appreciate question but will try to assist. Do you mean the mains power supply provided does not have a UK plug, or the connector from the mains power supply will not correctly fit into the power socket on the Cenovo, or some other power or data cable mismatch?
This device requires PSU rated 5V and at least 2.5A whereas the quoted Amazon PSU can supply only max 1A which is grossly inadequate. PSUs having 5V 3A rating and stated 4.0 x 1.7mm connector can be found on Amazon from around £10 ex-UK. What has GB said about the PSU they provided?
Aliexpress indicates PSU is rated at 5V 3A (15W) with 4.0mm connector. 3A will accommodate the device's requirement for 5V 2500mA (2.5A or 12.5W) as indicated by sticker on base on mini PC. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Cenovo-Mini-Pc-Dual-Boot-Smart-TV-Box-Mini-PC-Windows-8-1-Android-4-4/32354692312.html

Will politely decline to make a specific recommendation as I don't have any personal experience, but will provide a few pointers:
combination of previous post & 3rd parties suggest power supply required is 12V DC @ 3A via a 4.0mmx1.7mm dc barrel connector (the 3A rating allows some overhead from the stated draw of 2.5A). There are other devices that have exactly same power supply characteristics e.g. possibly some, but not all, Asus EE PC and 900x models, plus others. Some examples ex-UK: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291041109718/ 12V 3A connector Size: 4.0 x 1.7mm http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005JKZP7E/ 12v 3a (4.0 x 1.7mm Tip) needs mains cable
Note a review of the Amazon item from 3 years ago suggested wrong size barrel connector (4.8mm supplied rather than 4.0mm). Just ensure whatever you order has the correct barrel connector size, plus the 12V 3A rating. Any CE / safety rating is down to trust & your perception.

Having said that, for around the same price you can get a similar spec tablet with the same functionality with the added bonus of being a tablet.
This one has a newer faster cherry trail cpu & graphics + an 8 inch IPS 1920x1200 screen:
