Dont let the 10mp sensor fool you. This is the same sensor as the S95 which has been praised and used by photography professionals for years as a pocket camera. Sensor quality, sensor size and the cameras image processor are more important than megapixels. In fact using megapixels as a measure is the most pointless reason for buying a camera and rarely has any impact on image quality. A 10 mp sensor can wipe the floor with a 40mp sensor if the 40mp sensor is tiny (most phone cameras) and has a poor image software processor. The lens on a Quality compact camera will have larger and more ground glass elements than any phone camera with its minute lens and sensor.
Way too much marketing garbage out there re: megapixels has fooled many into buying sub standard crap based on nothing but technobabble.
For the price this camera will give great results and in the right hands (like any camera) will produce superb images capable of making sharp prints up to 10" X 12". It will print acceptable images to twice that size but softness will start to be evident.
As for the argument that yo would be better off with a bridge camera, well maybe but if you buy a bridge camera then you would be better off with a DSLR and if you buy a DSLR then you would be better with a 645 Digital camera etc etc etc. Pointless argument. This is a pocket camera a bridge camera is not.

Seems like a good camera for taking family photos and recording.

I agree, I have a Iphone 6s 128gb and I don't fancy taking that we me everywhere in Barbados. It could easily get pick pocketed with just a pair of shorts on. I'd rather spend £80 on a camera with a hand strap. It's my choice.

As a happy owner of a many year-old S95 (which cost £400!), this is a great deal.

The top-end S-range pretty much take the best quality pics for a compact, beaten only by the Sony RX100 range (at least that's how it was a few years ago, haven't looked much in to it since).

One argument in favour of a compact camera over a smart phone, regardless of the photo quality, is the fact that if you are on a day out and want to take plenty of pictures, you do tend to run out of battery and lose the use of your phone, which has happened to me in the past.

I'm not carrying my smartphone everywhere with me when I'm on holidays... prefer to take my Samsung EX1 which is still a bit bulky but have rotating screen and makes great photos at night without using flash + I don't have to worry about loosing few hundreds.

Only 10meg and 5 x optical zoom.

You would be better off with a bridge camera , more meg more zoom . I prefer Fuji.

I couldn't imaging carrying my expensive smartphone everywhere with me on holidays, trips or giving to my children... would rather prefer £80 small compact camera able of making good quality photos. Many people using small compacts as a backup cameras which can carry all the time... so don't say this is pointless:)

Is there anything better at this price? I'm no camera expert.

The few sample pictures I've seen for this camera seem to display an aqua-marine coloured sky. Is it normal for Canon cameras to produce an aqua-marine sky or is it just this model?

It"s a 2013 model,but OK for the price it"s £109 on Amazon
