Wouldn't touch them with a long barge pole. They screwed up a house move so bad I had to get OFCOM involved. Moved to a new build and even after giving them notice we didn't have telephone or internet for two months after we moved in. A couple two doors down who moved in a week after us had their's before us and they were with Sky.

They kept charging us for the phone line and internet they hadn't installed. Didn't put the credits on that they kept promising. Never gave us the call backs they promised. Kept playing transfer tennis every time we called. Transferred me to departments they knew had closed for the day. Even after OFCOM told them I could leave with no cancellation fee as they failed to live up to their end of the contract they charged me a cancellation fee. I had to go to OFCOM a second time as they refused to give me my full refund.

I've had issues with most companies but none on the scale of BT.

Just got mine installed only took them 6 weeks after installation date and that was 6 weeks of phone calls and live chat to Indian call centres who just read scripts back to you over and over again

To echo some of the sentiments of others.....dreadful customer service. Divisive, dishonest, disinterested and unreasonable. The product, once (if) you get in working and billed correctly I always found to be near flawless. But once out of contract I switched. Would never return, deal or not.
Some good deals here from a product p.o.v. but I wouldn't touch the company.

I had to wait 6 weeks when I switched to BT Infinity around this time last year which left me without broadband over Christmas & the New Year. However once up & running it's been flawless - no decrease in speed during peak hours & no connection drops (which plagued my adsl line).

My BT installation was flawless. They handled everything with Sky, told me broadband would go live on Monday, and text me when it did go live so I could connect the router. Now I get 38mbps.

BT are massive mess. They totally screwed up a client's install. Installed the connection in the wrong part of the building, didn't tell them where it was connected, wanted £125 to come out to show them. cut them off twice and also charged them £600 for cancelling their contract even though they never did. Messed up their email migration. Total and absolute bloody shambles of a company. I'd never ever go anywhere near them.

This is scorching in my opinion. I saw it in the paper. I've just switched and got pause and rewind TV, BT Sport, 32mb unlimited fibre, weekend calls and line rental for around £8.50 per month after cash back and prepaid MasterCard (total £295). The 2gb data, 500 mins and unlimited text BT mobile for £8 was just a bonus. Bargain.

In my previous house we had BT Broadband, and after about 6mths our speed dropped to about 2mb/s. Every time I contacted BT, the support was, like others have posted, dreadful and after several engineer visits, still could not fix the problem.

Since living in my new house for the last 2 years, I've had Infinity and never had an issue. So I've experienced it from both sides. I've also in the past been with Sky and TalkTalk, both of which are also dreadful if you have a problem. I think a lot of ISP's are like that.

In regards to speed (with infinity) BT is always the fastest, by far, and for this price I think it's a cracking deal! Still with BT, and only reason I haven't left and pay £30 P/M is because no other provider can give me the speed BT can (We don't have Virgin fibre here)

Heat added.

I noticed that. I ordered on Sunday with £130 cashback via quidco and £100 sainsburys card. I've just cancelled and gone for this. £160 cashback, £100 mastercard and £50 love 2 shop card. The fibre is also £2.50 a month cheaper. By going for this I've increased the cashback by £110. After working it all out were getting fibre for £5.93 a month. Bargain. Super hot. Was going to post and uve beaten me. Fingers crossed it goes sweet

Got the £10 p/m unlimited infinity offer a couple of months ago, had zero issues, get a solid 37-38mb speed and never drops below 35mb (which is the guarantee they gave me and lets me cancel my contract if it regularly drops below this). Connection was flawless and they handled everything with Sky. Can't fault it really. Like most places though, I am sure as soon as you have issues the customer service is less than satisfactory.

They cancelled my first order without any notice. so the day the installation was due I called them as no one had arrived and they told me it's cancelled.

i had to reschedule and wait another 2 weeks.

I missed out on the cashback deal due to that. They did honour the Sainsburys voucher but only after I complained.

the same issue was experienced by a friend of mine too.

I think I got off lightly having to tolerate no phone or broadband in new build for 4 weeks due to BT messing up. It got ridiculous when offshore call centre staff resorted to shouting down the phone at me because they had no response to my reasoned points. If I wasn't tied in, I would jump straight away although can't actually fault infinity now it is up and running, apart from rare dropouts.
Mattevansc3 to harryg001
25 Nov 15 #58
I ran into a similar problem and while its too late for you the advice I received from both the Citizens Advice Bureau and OFCOM was that contracts run both ways. While you are obligated to pay your bills the supplier is also obligated to provide that service. The supplier not charging you for services not provided does not remove their obligation to provide those services. After a "prolonged period of lack of service" you can actually class the supplier as being in breach of contract and cancel with no penalty.

All ISPs are terrible if you have a problem either during install or once installed. I run approx 30 lines for business and staff residential addresses, have used (and had issues with) multiple lines from TalkTalk, Plusnet, O2/Sky, Zen and BT. If the install goes to plan then it goes to plan, if it doesn't then it is hell. This seems more due to the communication issues between Openreach and the ISPs and is the same with every one of them. If the line has a fault they all (other than Zen) put you on to a scripted support expert, normally in another country. The end result with every one of them is a drawn out process with all the onus on you to prove the fault isn't your kit or wiring.

Have been loving my infinity for a few years now. 60mbps just fine, install went great. This year had problems with HH3, forum mods were in touch with tech support who rolled out fixes for those with the problem. I'd suggest trying the forums for people who don't have any luck with call centres, very helpful

Signed up for an 18-month (kill me now) contract with BT about three months ago. Halfway through month 1, they increased the price of Broadband twice and did not inform us before we took out the package. They then decided to charge us £20 p/m more than we actually signed up for and it took months of arguing to get that back down (they at one point agreed we'd been missold the package and offered us a £3 p/m discount on our £65 p/m package, rather than the £35 p/m one we signed up for).

Never. Ever. Again.

25 Nov 15 1 #44
If it has been two years I cannot see why not. Outside the usual scope of what an existing customer is.

I guess it is the luck of the draw with the install. I have never had an issue, had infinity for over 4 and a half years and have moved twice, never with much fuss and on the dates promised. Speed has always been outstanding. I agree that CS leaves something to be desired when I have rung to move/agree a new contract.

Heat for the prices if you can get it

Yea I'm £20 a month & phoned up to renew & they said the best they could offer was £21.50 which is more. Never get near the 75MB speed either. Normally around 35MB which is a joke. Sky has offer fibre to me for £10 a month so I'm just going to change to them. Surely can't be worse than BT.

25 Nov 15 1 #60
I was warned about going with BT when I moved in to my new build house. I ignored the warnings; it was by far one of the worst decisions I've made in a long time.

If you want no phone line for months after the install date and endless calls with Indian call centers who are powerless to contact anyone or do anything (I can't describe how useless they are), then BT are for you. I took 3 days off work to wait for 3 separate engineer appointments, they failed to turn up each time. The call centre reresponse? 'I am sorry about that, I know how you feel. Let me book you another appointment.' In a robotic voice just to rub it in.

Plus, perhaps unsurprisingly, they don't have a complaints department.

I strongly advise everyone not go with BT for a new build house. You've been warned.

That being said, when I switched to them after being with someone else in a previous house I had no issue, and some of those deals are good.
jase.2
25 Nov 15 1 #61
I moved house to a new build and had no issues at all

Think some on here should consider that their network issues would have been there regardless of which supplier you chose, as it would still have been Openreach doing the provision, and with new builds a lot of that is the builders fault for not engaging Openreach early enough! only cable would have made any difference.

That is nothing to do with BT Consumer's offers
Mattevansc3 to jase.2
25 Nov 15 #63
And who owns and runs BT OpenReach? Who asks for two weeks notice before doing a house move? Also if you bothered reading the actual comments the complaints are about how BT completely mishandled the situation from a customer service point of view.

I took out the upgrade to infinity option 2 couple years ago when it first came out in my village, the speed estimated was said to be 65mb, and the upload estimated at 20mb I've never reached higher than 49mb download, 12mb upload at best of times. BT Support were next to useless and a complete waste of time, they would be condesending & repeated scripted replies. Nows it become more popular the estimated speed has dropped. Capacity at the exchange must be near its limit as you would be lucky to reach anywhere near those speeds. Im still on option 2 so need to reconsider my contract. Plusnet is owned by BT but the support is much better, worth considering. End of the day BT own all the exchanges and if something goes wrong then a BT engineer is required to fix it.

got the deal this time last year, was brilliant apart from the week of no broadband and not being able to even report until 72hrs after the you are connected text.

Was suprised to see a email from then saying Black Friday renewal deal call this number.

What a stonking deal I was offered....a increase of 85p lol

Oh well good luck to all of you able to get the tcb and £100 mastercard and a £40 next voucher, Hope there is a good deal for you all next year.

Im hoping for a good black friday deal off of 1 of the other providers.

seems mad existing customers cant benefit from the deals saving the providers installation costs etc.

Just one question - I cannot work out how the TV works - do I need a TV aerial, or is everything piped through the internet connection? Is buffering ever/often a problem if it all comes through internet as I suspect, with the connection speed I can expect at my new house?

Only thing is, I can't get Sky Sports of BT Sports HD because by postcode doesn't have BT Infinity, I live in central London (Vauxhall) Has anyone else had any issues here? Do we know when infinity will be available? Saved money compared to Virgin
Many thanks

it's been over a month since I applied for the £100 gift card. Live chat seem to be useless, anyone else trying to chase them up for this?

I havent received it yet - I chased up with live chat who said I should have received it and they didn't know why I hadn't, but they would pass it on to the "gift cards team" and they would get back to me within 5 working days. That was on 22nd February. Still Nothing.

Just picked up your messages several months late. That's good advice, thanks. Noted in case it ever happens again. Best regards.
