Google are scared of Microsoft gaining a foothold so are doing all they can to stop it; suing everyone who tries to provide compatible apps. But the phone natively supports gmail, Here maps (or Microsoft maps in Win10 mobile) are miles better than Google maps anyway, OneDrive is better than Google drive and who in their right mind would use the rubbish Google docs when you get a proper MS Office thrown in? I threw away my iPhone 3 years ago for a Windows phone and have never regretted it for a moment.

Be warned - there is no free sat-nav app for this phone other than Bing maps.
Lumia phones comes with packed Here Maps+ out of the box - this one doesn't. And there is no Google Maps for Windows Phone (just some 3rd party copies, sometimes paid)

you can get around this by installing the 'Phone System Updater' app from the store, then go to the 'HERE Apps' section of the app, which will allow you to download Maps and Drive from the store

I can confirm here drive+ works like a charm, with offline maps downloaded and everything

I've come from a Lumia 920 and find the camera is not very good. It has trouble focusing, is noisy, slow and lacking in resolution.
I also find the screen not very responsive: writing texts is a nightmare.
It'll do for £80, but it's true what they say about getting what you pay for.

But when last time checked it (quite a long time ago, must admit) Here Maps+ for non-Nokia phones was paid app.
If still is, there's a choice of other paid apps.

I've had a Cubot S208 for 15 months, and while the phone's been great (apart from sub - standard cameras), the battery is now failing. Problem is I cant get a replacement at reasonable cost, or find an equivalent one from another phone as physical sizes aren't readily available to compare. However, it was only £50 - just a shame to bin it just because of the battery :disappointed:
I doubt it, as that was before the iPhone and Android, there was no significant alternative in terms of apps and app stores (sorry Symbian, but you weren't either). The Android Market only debuted with 50 or so apps 2 years later.

I like Windows Phone OS a lot, however I'm an Android user who uses apps such as Tasker/Autocast and Pushbullet, and there's plenty more apps that don't exist on Windows Phone platform, so I can't move as that functionality doesn't exist on the platform.

I've got a Lumia 635, which is ok, but the lack of official Google apps, Garmin Connect and Strava prevents me from moving across to the WP platform.
Plus it annoys me that I can't change the colour of certain tiles!

I bought this in grey for this price back in September when posted here, and I can honestly say I don't regret switching from Android at all. It's a far smoother user experience, everything just works without the constant Android lag whenever you attempt any action. Yes, a few Android apps are missing, but I can live without them, as all the more important ones are available and work better than on Android. Wish I'd switched a long time ago... :innocent:

I switched to Windows phone a few months ago, and all of the apps I use/need are available on Windows phone ... as well as about 300 000 other apps.
App compatibility should be even better when Win10 phone comes out (next month).

I wish Google would support WinPho. I am invested in their ecosystem, but would like a modicum of freedom of choice.

Good price for the phone but the lack of apps in the Windows app store puts me off. Not voted either way.
