For an Android phone, yes, 1GB RAM and 8GB storage is not enough. However, the situation is completely different on Windows Phone.

Windows Phone runs very well with only 1GB RAM, it even runs well with only 512MB.

Also, 99% of apps in the Windows Store can be installed to the Micro SD card, with only a minor increase in app launch times if using a slower SD card. Stability of the apps installed to the SD card is not compromised in Windows Phone.

this works beautifully. one sim can use data and that sim sits in. 4g. the other sim sits in 2g. this has caused me some issues with a three payg sim which can only sit in 3g or 4g, luckily the bt mobile sim I have (ee) can sit on 2g. there is an app you can get that allows you to install some of the Lumia only apps. Yes I recommend this phone, it's not a 640 dual sim but it's also a lot cheaper:)

Windows is much easier to use than android which is normally bloated with junk. Don't start me on the amount of updates to the apps on android.
Having used all, pound for pound you will get a better phone on windows. Granted not all of the apps are there, but things like Facebook etc are.
You can easily move or store apps on the SD card, which does not always work that well on an android phone, even with the latest android software.
My son has a Vodafone Smart Ultra 6, lot of phone for the money, its just so annoying to use once you have tried windows.

I asked Blu on twitter when the Win10 Mobile software would be released. Here's their reply;

"There is no specified date for the release, If an update is made available we will let everyone know through social media!"

So what are people's thoughts regarding installing the Windows 10 Insider Preview? Blu devices aren't included on the Microsoft device recovery software....so I feel like it's a much bigger risk to take.

Has anybody installed the W10 Preview?

Hi, mine went through a couple of updates and a couple of reboots. I think one

of the updates was to fix a reboot issue.

You could possibly keep checking for software updates in the menus or just leave it on and it should install the updates itself and stabilise.

If it doesn't Amazon are great for prompt replacement of defective products.

Hope this helps.

Received my yellow one today, first impressions are good.

The speaker is very quiet at full volume, so you may need add some extra loud mp3 ringtones from a PC.

Also, it has a similar issue to the Lumia 535 where screen stutter is concerned (not screen sensitivity). If you notice that scrolling isn't smooth, this should fix it: Go to Settings, then Ease Of Access, then switch off 'Screen Magnifier'.

Been looking at this for hour or so, was going to get a cubot x15 (android) which retail's about same as this, but now this is reduced hmmmm. Personally not a fan on the window tile layout, read various reviews saying windows phones will become obsolete and dont support various apps etc etc. This one doesnt come with a actual plug to charge and just one screen protecter. Cubot has plug and 2 screen protecters. Tech wise I really havent got a clue what to look for, both say the cameras are not brill, but not sure which is the best? So confusing, buying for bf who has rubbish samsung young android and uses virgin pay as you go big talk sim (so calls deals only data extra cost per day) currently he doesnt us any apps or internet like me we are really dated with are mobile use just calls/texts/camera this is due to the fact are phones are rubbish so we don't ever bother. He would like iphone but way too expensive.

I'd say make your choice based on the ecosystem he prefers (Android vs Windows).

The Windows App store has moved on in leaps and bounds from a few years back, almost all the main apps you'll see on Android or iOS are covered either natively or by 3rd partly apps. A glaring omission is a native YouTube app which has a lot to do with Google's attitude to MS, but there are very good 3rd party alternatives.Further, there's no Google Drive, Google Play Music, Google Chrome etc for Windows phone so if your bf uses these systems/ apps on Android he won't find any joy with a Windows phone. He can of course migrate to Outlook, OneDrive, Dropbox etc.

The problem with the Windows Mobile ecosystem is that they it was very late to the party. Looking to the future, pundits predict Windows Phones to be having around a 4% share of the smartphone market by 2019: http://www.winbeta.org/news/idc-predicting-windows-phone-with-3-6-market-share-in-2019

That's not very good, given that both iOS and Google were well entrenched in their userbase by the 2nd-3rd year. Many tech editors do admit that developer support for Windows Mobile is significantly behind that for iOS or Android; that's understandable, if you were a developer you'd want to target the largest market you can get for your app.

I'd say take your bf to a phone store, let him have a good play with a Windows Mobile phone, and ask him to make the decision. You can even order the Bluwin and return it to Amazon if he doesn't like it, being Amazon they'll of course take it back. The charging adaptor is really a non-entity, this phone should charge with any old microUSB charger you have at home.

IF buying from Aliexpress is OK there's a couple of sellers doing a similar specced Android based Blackview BV2000 for £40:

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Original-Blackview-BV2000-5-0-Android-5-1-WCDMA-Phone-MTK6735-Ocata-core-1-0GHz-1G/32513702932.html

However it's worth repeating that if running more than a few simple apps, a minimum of 2GB RAM may recommended... but such phones at this price will come before long.... :man:

I am a prime customer but I wonder if they would really be 'this' good tbh, sounds to good to be true. Regards going in a shop my bf has no time for this we both work all the time so no time to physically go in store, plus hate the pressure sell. Thanks for that tip, very useful. Unfortunately HERE was sold off to an automotive consortium recently, we may see Windows Phone support being withdrawn over the coming years. This was the last stage of MS's divestiture of Nokia assets. What a shame as I found HERE maps and navigation to be superior to many others (not a surprise, they were based on Navteq mapping technology that has been around decades)..

Good price for the phone, voted hot

Had a Windows now for over a year via work , theyre not bad theyre just not great, the apps library is pretty sparce considering and the ones that are there either work as they should ( you dont get points for an app working correctly) or are seriously atrocious.

For a basic phone that happens to have an average camera and less than stellar choice of apps then the majority of windows phones are excellent , but if you want an all in one device i would prefer Android devices.

Definitely worth checking out that app, but I tried that over the weekend and it missed a few apps I know are on windows phone and completely misinterpreted what some other apps are so gave me poor/wrong alternatives. You're best bet is probably just to have a look here - https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/store/apps/windows-phone - and see if they have the app you want.

Having used windows phone in the past, I actually quite a few apps are better than their android counterparts - including Spotify and Facebook - BUT there are still quite a few holes in the app store.

Here Drive can be installed, but it currently isn't available on the Windows Store for any phones that don't already have it pre-installed.

To install it, you need an app from the store named 'Phone System Updater'. Use that app, and navigate to the HERE section, select the apps from there. You will then be re-directed to the Windows Store in order to download them.
