Found this Asda Kilmarnock tonight, no idea if its national but it has a proper label and not a whoops sticker
Two types of Anchor cheddar - Extra Mature and Lighter Mature both down to £1 for 350g pack - both dated 3rd Jan 16, so not a bad date for such a low price, had plenty of both on the end of an aisle and in the cheese aisle itself

I had never bought this until a genuine poster posted that here and I have become a fan. Shame the price is yo-yoing on the UP! Some of the deals here posted by kind people are really useful and helpful. Shame they are few and far between.

Not that tasty though. Had one before. I prefer the £1.15 from Lidl!

The Lidl mature is as strong as some extra mature from other brands. I used to always used to get Cathedral City until I discovered this.

Tip: buy extra, grate it and freeze it, is my suggestion. Then use directly from the freezer for your dishes. :smirk:

No need to do that cheese will last well past it's best before date in a good fridge. How do you think they store cheese in a dairy, and some for months. If you get a little mould on it just cut it off the rest will be OK.

It's advertised on the Asda website at £2.00, so any at £1.00 will either be a local offer, or a pricing error

When this exact deal was posted earlier this year, we RUSHED around 3 local Asdas trying to stock up on cheese, but our labours were in vain,as no such offer existed!( suspiciously like so many 'great deals' that appear on here & are invariably 'wild goose chases')!

Very good price.Probably cheaper than bird food, and makes a great treat for garden birds. Only problem is stopping crows, magpies and jackdaws pinching the lot in about 1 minute, amazing how quick they find it!

Cheese goes crumbly when frozen but if you grate it into small portions (as it tends to lump together) then freeze that works well.
