Why should it be available nationwide?

I know I'm sad, but I read reviews on batteries and I heard some of the Duracell batteries etc did not have the same power as the ones from normal shops when they tested them (although not sure if it was their Simple range (or whatever they call them)).

The ones that faired best at price per power unit were Ikea ones and also B&M's I think they were called Power Cell so I went for those?

I normally use decent rechargeable batteries for more heavy duty stuff anyway though.

I have seen store specific deals in the 99p store, but I can see you had a reasonable argument for your OP.

If they say "simply" on, then they are no good for high drain things. These seem to be available in every Poundland/Poundworld/99p stores. They are awful in anything like a camera (due to flash). They don't seem to have the "oomph" of the normal Duracells, but in something low drain, like a TV remote etc, they are pretty similar to standard Duracells.

That chart shows how close the output is of many alkaline batteries except for Panasonic Evolta. So really as long as you are buying Alkaline the most important thing is price per battery. For example if you used the Kodak alkaline batteries which are 6 for a £1 and used half the capacity of the extra 2 batteries over the Duracell pack on that chart they would be close to the Energizer Ultimate Lithium. The ikea batteries used to be best value by far as it was 10 for £1 but now at £1.50 per pack they aren't quite as good but still the front runner I would say.
