if you are in the market for the new iPad pro then John Lewis are offering 3 years free guarantee with the new iPad pro,but what's even better IMO is that for only £49 you can cover the giant sized tablet for 3 years of accidental cover, which also includes 30 days per year of cover abroad,so no worries if you drop it while you are drunk or fall into the swimming pool with it.
Now I know Apple do their own apple care but it costs £79 for only 2 years and you have to pay £39 if you make a claim, where John Lewis do not make you pay a penny if you have to claim.
I'm sure this will go cold because it is Apple related but as long as it helps someone out then that's all that matters.

I've rung JL and paid my £49 for the damage cover. Sounds pretty good. I guess smashing the screen or pouring a glass of water over it would cost a pretty penny to fix. Cheers for the heads up. Still wish my case would hurry up though as I like having my iPads in a case with a kickstand.

Oh yes it's a very good deal, especially when you consider that Apple will charge you an excess of £39 on any claim and that's on top of the £79 they charge for only 2 years of cover.
My quick calculations work it out to cost only £1.36 per month for the accidental damage cover from John Lewis, and that's for an iPad costing up to £900.
Biggunspaul
17 Nov 15#65
That's the good thing about the accidental damage cover from John Lewis,it's not a big deal if you do damage the screen.
And yeah the sound quality of the speakers is great, just a shame there seems to be an issue where the keyboard typing volume is so quiet.
dgreensuperhoops
17 Nov 15#64
I know what you mean about the air screen looking small now! I used to own a Note Pro 12.2 so knew what to expect with the iPad pro size. I think the sound that comes out the speakers is great, good volume and generally good enough quality for playing music, , radio etc through.
Yeah I'm happy with my iPad pro, just waiting for delivery of a case for it as I'm terrified I'll drop it and smash the screen

Hi. I received an email saying that as stated by their representative on the phone it is a three year warranty but they are unable to reissue the warranty email. I emailed back immediately saying that I do want a new warranty email( increases resale value) and that wasn't what the representative said at all to me but they haven't, as yet, had the decency to reply.
As an aside, I don't get notified of responses on the HotUkDeals app, I just happened to look by chance. Should I be being notified? Cheers

A case of badly designed software requiring excessive hardware specs to cover for deficiencies. I think such a bulky and expensive device just to read magazines is absurd.

I think the Air also supports split screen multi-apps but to a lesser degree.

14 Nov 15#44
That's up for debate. The main benchmark available for testing ARM and x86/64 processors is Geekbench and that's been proven to skew results in favour of ARM processors via its inclusion of SHA1 and SHA2 results. These are governmental security protocols and see little use in consumer or professional applications.
I think the pro hints at the processor/ram and screen. The processor is better the core m and iirc similar to the recent core i5, which is pretty good, 4gb ram is great for iOS and screen is better than a 15" retina MacBook Pro? Not sure about that one. The pen is faster and more accurate than a surface.
... But if I'm honest I'm trying to convince myself I need a iPad pro with the above reply, other than that I'm not sure it's a pro either.

Keep checking the stock every half an hour or so as it changes all the time.
when I ordered mine on Wednesday, when the ordering first went live each model would go out of stock within 2 or 3 minutes, yet as soon as most of the stock had gone, the models that were supposedly out of stock came back in stock again.took me about 2 hours of messing around to bag one.
Already today the stock has changed a few times, and ones that were out of stock have come up for sale again.

Because IOS is a purely touch focused operating system with the largest choice of professional grade apps. Whereas Windows 10 is a hybrid operating system with a comparatively tiny choice of touch optimised apps.
I am no Apple fan and think this is a niche product but at least it has decent software support which is why you buy hardware in the first place.

Considering that OSX has no touch optimization and neither do OSX applications what exactly do you expect Apple to use instead of iOS?

While we're on about the iPad pro though....what a feckin expensive bit o kit!. I'm sure it's nice enough to use as far as desktop screen size goes but it's hardly going to be comfortable as a couch surfer for a few hours continued use....so that's the pockets and the wrists damaged.

If you want to take full advantage of what the pro can do such as 4K video editing then the 128gb model would be better, but yeah if you aren't going to use it to do such things then the 32gb maybe fine.
Personally I don't think 128gb is still that much these days with photo and video quality improving and taking up more space.i would have liked to have seen 256gb or 512gb like the surface pro,as let's not forget these tablets are being marketed as laptop replacements.
