That's cos you need to wet it first it helps the electrons flow more efficiently.

A Tenda rebadge, I used the firmware below to update it to the latest v1.08 version. much cheaper than buying the Zyxel version at 44 quid on amazon http://www.zyxel.com/uk/en/products_services/pla5206.shtml?t=p and gives your similar performance to av2 1200 standard for 1/3 the price.
The Tenda and Zyxel use the Broadcom BCM60333 chipset, the firmwares look the same and the board alike too, I think they both use the reference chipset. On average I get 300mbs between devices over my wiring, which is approx 30mb.
Much better than old tp link 200mbs that broke. I think all powerline adaptors die over a certain amount of time.
download the management tool and firmware here, you need to connect one device to a time to the pc to update:
btw the tenda tool doesn't seem to be able to change the QoS of the device, e.g. the device connected to my routers should be high and other devices low etc. i used the zyxel tool to do this:
Thanks for these. I tried plugging the ethernet cable directly to the mains and it didn't work out well.

Had a set of these. Failed within a day. Several replacements also all failed within days of usage. Based on my experience not a good deal, even at this price.

2nd that, Sumvision have awful customer service. My experience was so bad, that I would no longer purchase any device made by Sumvision.

Their products are really bad quality as well. These will just be rebadged generic, low quality crap.
Best powerline there is, it just works and works amazingly

Cheap as these are, don't let any amateur radio enthusiasts know you have these.....they'll be forming a line to your door with aerial style pitchforks in company.....

Hold on a mo, is the Ethernet ports 1gbps or is just the transfer speed between to two adapters 1gbps??

there is no powerline adaptor with gigabit transfer speed on the market. It's deceptive marketing and I wish trading standards, or whoever would deal with it, would get involved and stop these hacks from false advertising

Yep I'm sure they do but not at true Ethernet speeds

I'm also in the badly-concealed-ethernet-cable-running-up-the-stairs club. Is it true your FM radios never receive properly with these powerline units in the house?

I ran cat7 cable around the edge of the laminate to the router. Rock solid connection.

Why cat7? there is no advantage over cat5e and it's twice as thick to hide.
When we built our house we had it all done in cat6 one of the reasons we built rather than bought.
hitman007

When I checked, it wasn't' that much more expensive than cat6. The cable ordered was the flat version, so didn't notice any greater thickness. Only one length was required. If I was building a house, cat6 would be in my spec.

gone for these to try and achieve enough to stream a blu ray rip from my media server to my Amazon Fire TV, they're by far the best bang for buck powerline around atm

I upgraded to these from some old 85Mbps which I never speed tested for network, so I don't really know what it was before. The reason for the upgrade was that I'm now on Virgin's 200Mbps internet, and through these adapters I'm getting about 140Mbps which I assume is probably the actual broadband speed.

17 Oct 15#26
140Mbps is great to hear as that's more than enough for me, namely streaming a bluray rip whilst playing on streamed Xbox one on the highest settings , thanks for replying
had to expire, went to buy my 2nd pair this morning and they'd gone right up to £40 :disappointed: gutted.

cheapest alternative seems to be amazon at £35?

20 Nov 15#32
yes they're what I saw, I dropped on on eBay with a second hand paid sub £20. (luck like that never happens to me!)
Piece of advice for using 4 on the same network, you'll need to hit the pair button on each of the new ones and on one of the ones in the existing network, or else it'll see two discreet powerline pairings. Took me a few minutes of head scratching last night to suss that out.
So far so good for me, i'm getting roughly 80Mbps between the two points I'm concerned about
Quiffco
20 Nov 15#33
Yeah checked ebay but cheapest is ~£34.
Interesting about the pairing, I wonder if you could pair a slower pair on the same network without affecting the first? I don't need as much speed for the other connection, but I believe powerline usually operates at the speed of the slowest device on the network, so putting a 500mbps plug on the existing network will drop these to 500mps I believe.

funny you should say that, as I actually have a 200Mbps plug on my network, i'll remove it tonight and see if it boosts my upper limit, although I doubt it because 80Mbps is far more than I'd ever get from a 200 plug

Does anyone have a copy of the EU firmware for these?
I can only find the US firmware online at the moment.
