This is a heads-up for anyone who hasn't heard about the Royal Mail releasing Star Wars stamps this week. Could be a useful Christmas gift for a Star Wars fan?
If you want first day covers they must be ordered by midnight on the 20th October. The other Star Wars stamp sets will continue to be available after that date.
Yes, I do realise that it's the normal price for these, and experience tells me that some people will complain that it's not a "proper" deal, but I'd prefer to suffer the wrath of a few whingers than see people miss out ... :-)
EDIT - UPDATE - Look carefully - I think there are 2 sets of the 1st day covers, each with a choice of Alliance and Imperial postmarks. The first is the 12 character stamps and the second described at "Star Wars sheet" contains 6 stamps with various craft, including the Millennium Falcon.

Just to clarify, the Alliance & Imperial sets are the same stamps, but with different logos on them/the packaging/the set.
...I think.

Could you sneak in a sly Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings reference as well?

If you get a first day cover, can the stamps be used to send letters? Tempted to get some as a present for my brother for christmas, but he might have had them already as he collects all sorts of stuff, if he has them could he then use the stamps?
