Pair with an antlion modmic and you have yourself a damn fine headset for all consoles and PC.

Haha, so true, I have the same setup but have my headphones going through a mini amp.

The most comfortable headphones I own, would recommend getting the shorter lead with the 3.5mm connector as an extra though! Absolutely brilliant, give them an audition and you will find it hard to find something better at 2-3x the price imo. They are open backed ( best audio quality ) so only suitable for home use, something to keep in mind.

I am a phonophile and these just don't cut the mustard.

Phonophile = "collector of records" according to Cambridge dictionary, so what are you trying to tell us?

Can you advise a pair that does 'cut the mustard' at this price point ...... In your opinion?

Still waiting for a decent outdoor use pair but these look decent for the home.

Another set of phones which NEEDS a dedicated headphone amp. If you are thinking of plugging into anything else, these simply are not right for you. Just because they are great phones and expensive, does not make them right for everyone when you find them cheap.

I beg to differ. With a 50 Ohm impedance these should be easily driven even by portable audio devices - although an amp or good sound card would certainly be beneficial

These are great, I've had them for around 6 months ago and it's just nice. They're very durable, I've dropped them by accident a few times and they are always fine to the point where I'm not too afraid of dropping them. Apparently after a few hundred hours of use they will burn in and the sound will actually be better.
