Cheap but these old refrigerant type dehumidifiers are not really suitable for the UK climate. Go for a desiccant type dehumidifier as they work much better.

Agreed, I have a desiccant, much quieter and works in cold temperatures very well.

Depends on how you'll use it!
We use a similar one in a warm room for drying clothes and for this it's perfect.

a dehumidifier has been one of the best purchases I've made in recent years, I feel healthier, clothing + bedding doesn't feel damp anymore. I was put off by the price, but it's totally worth it.

Desiccant type dehumidifiers release a lot of heat so would be even more perfect!!

Bought one of these last time it was on offer and it's a highly efficient machine.
No more condensation on the windows in a damp and cold room. Put the washing in the same room on those rainy days and it speeds up the drying time tenfold.
