Hope this helps at least one person but Ryanair has a sale on 20 % off and there is lots of flights at just £15.99 from London to Lisbon. I am going for £32 return in January!

Is this a nice city to visit in January? Does everything remain open?

It's great at anytime of the year because the weather, food, people and fees are a lot lower than UK. Heck, you can actually eat quality meat and fish in its pure state, whereas like ham from UK tastes like crap and also has a horrendous smell. Oh yeah, not to forget the beer by Sagres is delicious (Carlsberg doesn't even come close :stuck_out_tongue:).
By the way, if you're a meat lover you definitely gotta try presunto (in Spanish it's jamón).
