Would be all over this if Game let me use the store credit I've built up in their online store.
A really irritating policy.

Actually I know a trick where you can use your gift card credit (you get from in-store via trade-ins etc) online. I've been doing this for a while.
You basically order anything that adds up the value of the product MINUS £1 (this is important - otherwise the e-voucher won't work). Then you immediately cancel the order and within 10 minutes you will be sent an e-voucher which can be used for pre-orders.
For example, this is how I pre-ordered Tomb Raider just now.
I ordered 2x pokemon rumble at £16.99 each. This totals around £34.
I immediately cancel the order via the order screen. I wait 10 minutes for the e-vouchers.
Once you get your vouchers, you use them to pre-order Tomb Raider. You then need to pay £1 either by reward points or debit card. It can't be a gift card.
Thats it.

I'm sure I saw on the website it came with some DLC :\ But on the game under Marketplace, on the second tab it has add-ons and has pre-order on there so that's probably it!

crazy to think over 2 and a half years ago I was posting a pre order deal for tomb raider 2013 for £27.99 hahah! where does the time go. wish this was the same price lol. best it's going to get though with xbox one still fairly new and all. heat.

Can confirm the evoucher trick works. I had £70 on my game wallet, went to store today and got £34.99 put on gift card then ordered mortal kombat online using gift card, cancelled this then received evoucher through email then used to order tomb raider. Game need to sort it out so you can pre order with trade in credit as doing this all the time is a ball ache.

14 Oct 15#74
Yeah I dont buy in this game wallet nonsense. They will always keep gift cards an option because they want to lock in parents/kids (unaware in trade-ins) to buy their expensive games.
I only found out last year when they cancelled a game (Kingdom hearte collectors edition) due to no stock but they still sent it and got e voucher too lol.

It's ridiculous indeed. But even if it was a month delay or two months, people spoil things anyway. The safe bet is just to stay off the internet or don't read comments from gaming news for a whole year. There was a whole lot of idiots that spoilt Until Dawn on me in just a few days after release. And that was in the Twitch chat as-well as some IGN and Gamespot post that had nothing to do with the game. Just scroll down comments and there it is, spoiled. Will happen for this game for sure.

Sorted. I had no cancel option as I'd ordered a single item.
Have since spoken to their Live Chat and had the evouchers issued - pre ordered several items and can now see the cancel buttons!
Basically make sure you order more than 1 item so you can cancel online yourself!
stuarthanley to revis84
11 Oct 15#66
That's not necessary. I only ever buy single items and then cancel them immediately to get the evoucher.
if you are using the website through your phone, there is no cancel button. you have to switch it to view as a desktop page on your mobile browser.

Just go to my orders then click order details then cancel.
By the way, only order physical goods (that are sold by GAME themselves) if you want to cancel and get e-vouchers. I didn't mention it earlier because its common sense they don't refund digital goods.

11 Oct 15#61
How do you cancel your iorder with Game, I don't see any cancel button?
Tatwamasi
11 Oct 15#60
What you need to do is go to Game and have them put the Wallet amount on a Gift Card.
It's a pain, but I can verify that Gift Card - Online purchase - cancel = E-Voucher that can be used to preorder works.
I'm never getting anything put on Game Wallet again.
Actually, I think I'm going to stop using Game full stop, it's ALWAYS a hassle buying stuff from them, if you don't want to pay through the nose.
Thanks again to Pikachu for explaining this workaround, and to StuartHanley who DM'd me with the info too.

The reason for this is they are two completely separate companies. So this bizarrely means they don't have any connection with basic things such as pricing.
For example a while ago I was after a copy of project cars, £39.99 on the website but when I went to store it was £45.99! Wouldn't price match their own website either. Game are a joke.

This game can get knotted, I'll pick it up when it's in the bargain bin. Can't stand AAA titles that stick microtransaction in, don't care hoe "optional" they are. People keep buying these game's are just giving developers and publishers more reason to keep pushing them into game's, until one day we buy a AAA game and microtransaction are essential to completing the game.
adam0812 to TheAmazingGamer
10 Oct 152#17
would you rather pay more and have no microtransactions? let's be real here, the cost of developing a game has increased exponentially but the cost of games to the consumer is, adjusted for inflation, less than it ever has been. unfortunately something has to give, that something is dlc, microtransactions etc.
