PES 2016 marks the twentieth anniversary edition of the hugely successful football series.
From its humble origins on PSOne, the PES series has leaped from format to format, adding ever more realism as it evolved. This heritage has been celebrated in PES 2016’s new tagline ‘Love The Past, Play The Future’, highlighting the series’ recent return to core PES values in last year’s PES 2015 and focusing on the many new gameplay and presentational elements that will further establish the series as the definitive football experience.
PES 2016 aims to retain its title of ‘Best Sports Game’, as voted across the world at games shows and by major media outlets in 2014, by continuing to lead the way in the recreation of ‘The Beautiful Game’. The series aims to go back to its roots to create an exciting match between users, and proudly present PES 2016 to deliver quality gameplay following The Pitch is Ours mantra. From further integration of the industry leading Fox Engine to bring the on-pitch action to life and the full commitment to centre the product around creating the best gameplay experience, to the full redevelopment of Master League, every facet of the game has been enhanced to deliver yet another outstanding product.

Certainly a good price. However: potential buyers should be aware that the PC version of PES2016 is a port of the X360/PS3 game - NOT the PS4/X1. I recommend they read the Steam reviews and make an informed decision.

But hopefully not some knee-jerk backlash fuelled decision. It is disappointing that the Windows version doesn't have the new game engine, but that isn't to say that it doesn't still look great at high resolutions and frame rates in spite of this. It's worthwhile to remember that this is also probably the best football game on the PC platform. Obviously if you have a PS4 or XBone you should probably get it on those (depending on your ability to customise teams), but it shouldn't be forgotten that the PC version is a great game in it's own right.
There is a demo on Steam if anyone want to try it for themselves first.

It is, but there are mods out which really help the graphics ...

Got done by this last year as well. Pathetic of Konami, the PC version last year looked like something from 2007, and played like it as well. I have zero hopes for this one then.

Of course, now that I mention Steam. It should also be mentioned that one of the big controversies surrounding the Steam release of the game is that on the Steam page the pictures and video of the game are taken from the PS4/XBone version and are not representative of the MS Windows version. This is, of course, deplorable behavior and products that are not as described, either through negligence or, worse, through deliberately misleading marketing should be hammered by public reviews, and quite rightly it is.
Most of the negative reviews are going to be because of the marketing and the fact that it uses the previous-gen game engine. Whether these things are important to you is, of course, up to you.

after what they did on Steam, I cannot trust them. Awful deal, you're paying latest game prices for last seasons game engine. Before anyone says 'but, what a price', try and remember that a hot deal isn't just about price - at least on this website.

Latest game prices? I paid this on release. Fifa at £25 on PC and £35 on consoles are latest game prices. And as far as last years game engine it isn't as bad as everybody who hasn't played it would like to believe. I'm guessing you haven't played it but the gameplay is there and it is easily worth this.

I have picked up FIFA since FIFA 13 , which I do for ultimate team , I know PES as a similar thing , but it's not the same.
Is PES 16 using Fox Engine (PC)

I won't be buying it on principle this year. Stuck by PES through the wilderness years since PES6 and this is how Konami repay loyal PC fans? Absolute disgrace. No logical reason why it couldn't be same as PS4/XB1 versions.

You're not going to buy, what is, a good game this year on principle? When you've knowingly bought, what would at best be described as, lacklustre versions previously? So shovelling substandard games in general year after year is somehow OK, but this particular thing is just disgraceful. even though it's a better game than they have made in years (ever?).
There absolutely *is* a logical reason. Money. The game on PC sells a small fraction of what it does on consoles. That is reality and that is why the PC version doesn't get the resources and love allocated to it that the current-gen console versions do. If you were running Konami, you'd probably do the same because it's a very sensible business decision, especially if it allows the game to run well on older hardware.
It may not be a reason you like as a gamer, but it's a reason.

Except that the modern consoles have far more in common with an x86 based PC than a PC has with the last gen consoles. So while you're right about it being about money, it's actually short sighted and will mean they make less money in the end as many PC players will switch to Fifa as they get shafted a 2nd time by Konami.
