Quidco have recently upped cashback making this quite a tasty deal especially for those who are with sky and got the recent price increase letter.

12 Months x £16.99 = 203.88
1 x Internet Router = £6.95
1 x Plusnet £50 Cashback = -£50.00
1 x Quidco £70 Cashback = -£70.00

Total = £90.83

Works out at £7.57 per month

Yes, but you don't get the £50 cashback from plusnet, also the broadband is £2.50 not free, the offer must've been changed
try going through quidco & you'll see, you have to put your bank details in to proceed

Got the letter from Sky today. Will look at moving to PlusNet as was happy with them a few years back.

99p a month for Caller ID but still way cheaper than Sky overall.

Argh, I switched to BT today. Presumably could cancel on distance selling regs?

Effective cost with BT is £16ish for fiber. Not sure I'd want to trade that for ADSL but then £4.24 is ridiculous. Hmm.

Last year i moved from Sky to BT 76mb fibre with the £125 sainsburys voucher. Went via TCB ( £110 ) however it never tracked so i phoned up BT and said i am staying with sky. BT offered me 76mb fibre for £14.41 a month so i confirmed with them i would still get the sainsburys voucher and they said yes. So i took the deal and then TCB came through with the £110 cashback, think in the end i ended up paying about £7-8 for line rental and 76mb a month:)

So moral of the story give them a ring they may offer you better deal, if not you can still cancel as you have 14 days from when you ordered i believe

ps if you do get a better deal offered over the phone record the phone call and get in it writing via email

I dont get this. I was with BT, moved to Plusnet. Then TalkTalk, now with sky. When I type my telephone number into Plus net it says I need a new line installation. I don 't though. So I cannot take advantage of this deal as it want to charge me £50 for a new line when I have (what was) a BT line
iambigred to MCGONIS
20 Oct 15 2 #16
Currently the other end of your phone line at the telephone exchange will be connected into Sky's equipment. This is known as LLU, see here for more info. When you switched to Sky a BT Openreach engineer would have had to physically disconnect your line from BT's network, which is why Plusnet aren't detecting a line compatible with their service. Often the new provider will pay for the new line install or reconnection fee, but not always.

Not as good as the BT Infinity deal post recently (£210 quidco + £100 Sainsburys voucher). Worked out to be around the same price (~£5 pm) for unlimited 38mbps FTTC rather than just standard ADSL.

I assume that the cashback is available on the 18 month / larger packages?
Is it good for broadband only packages as there is no need for a landline?
Installation is probably something I would need to pay for (currently virgin fibre) so any idea of costs?

21 Oct 15 1 #26
so it is going to cost me 192.87 if i pay the line rental upfront with £110 quidco & £50 cashback 192.87-160= 32.87 so £2.73 each month if things go as per plan .. nice

Was with O2 broadband and Sky took them over. Really, really happy with the broadband and speed. Had no problems with the then O2 and now Sky - seamless. But as with everyone. It's a no brainer. I need a fatter wallet rather than an empty one. Will phone up the retentions/disconnections team and see if they can tempt me to stay with them.
huangxq2 to starbidder
21 Oct 15 #60
When Sky took over my O2 ADSL, my contract still had 2 months left. I was constantly out of internet, sometime for days or a week. Talked to Sky, they did not do a thing.

I am already with Plusnet for 2 years after Sky. I will never use Sky again. Shocking internet service and customer services.

I am very happy with Plusnet. I am paying £10 for 76Mbps fibre broadband on top of telephone line rental.
Simpleminded to starbidder
21 Oct 15 #93
Little trick if that helps:
i placed an order last year with talktalk and next day sky called me they offered me £7 each month (including line rental), it allows their retention team to add more discount when a person is about to leave them.
i would have stayed with them as £7 was a good deal however i have issues with the wifi at home and even they gave me free change of router and wifi booster it still doesn't help and wifi remains intermittent ..

lets see how it goes with Plusnet.

Cheers was hoping it was like that. Hopefully goes smoothly. Been with BT since I moved house and I've been paying almost 40 quid a month for the line and broadband!

Incorrect this is not true , it doesn't require a new line or reconnection fee at all as the line is still active, the fact is you will need to phone plusnet to reactive the old account again as its tied to your number that's why it appears like that when you are still search nothing to do with LLUs.
n1ttygr1tty
21 Oct 15 #38
ive been plusnet a few times...if you do have any problems, their forums normally give you all the help you need with their moderators,, I had a slight problem with high pings (for gaming) you can ask numerous things to improve things and they are normally actioned within 24 hours on the forum

and one great thing about plusnet, their call centres are not in india etc, they are from the uk
cliosport65

Incorrect info given. no new line needed at all just a need to phone plusnet to reactivate the account as its tied to your number that's why it doesn't search properly nothing to do with LLUs.

I believe plusnet will not honour both their £50 cashback offer and quidco combined. A friend of mine attempted to claim the £50 previously from plusnet, and the quidco cashback was declined immediately.
n1ttygr1tty to haggismn
21 Oct 15 #41
think your wrong there, it clearly states on quidco "plus £50 cashback" so why would quidco get declined?

if it got declined all they need to do is challenge the declined payment by making a claim
lukeo44 to haggismn
21 Oct 15 #45
Hmmm, I was thinking it might be a problem. Might just go with the £110, still a good deal

Strange because I can't see the "plus £50 cashback" on the quidco on both mobile and desktop site ?
n1ttygr1tty
21 Oct 15 #43
it was on a few days ago, seems they have removed it,

either way if it gets declined you simply make a claim, as long as you went through quidco to plusnet, you shouldn't have any problems with the claim quidco clearly state £110, plusnet clearly state £50 cashback so you covered both ways with the claim, (as an added precaution take a screenshot of the plusnet page with £50 on)

lukeo44
21 Oct 15 #46
From the Quidco page:
"Cashback will not be paid in conjunction with any other offer, voucher or discount code unless listed on this page, or with any other discounts such as staff or student discounts"

The £50 is no longer listed on the Quidco page so might not work
n1ttygr1tty to lukeo44
21 Oct 15 #48
all the above is irrelevant as your not using discounts
as long as you click through quidco you get whats advertised on the plusnet page at the time of clicking

the part about "voucher or discount code unless listed on this page" means just that, any voucher or discount code listed on page, your NOT using any of those are you

don't take my word for it, ask quidco live chat if u want further proof

just called sky and the best they could do was extend my free boardband deal for another year as they said they could do nothing with the lkine rental or call package as i already had half pricve tv which i think is lies hmmm with cash back its always a risk. decisions
jb66 to Civichyde

Even if quidco didnt pay out you still would be £50 better off with the voucher and cheaper line rental
n1ttygr1tty to Civichyde
21 Oct 15 #59
your best option would have been to shop around on quidco or topcashback before you asked sky, then asked them to price match or come close to it, or you will leave free of charge (sky broadband and line rental),
the sky tv package, and broadband and line rental are 2 separate contracts, so there would be no effect on your current half price tv package price you currently have if you do decide to leave elsewhere for your broadband and line rental
lukeo44
21 Oct 15 #49
"in conjunction with any other offer" the £50 could be considered as another offer
n1ttygr1tty
21 Oct 15 1 #50
ive used quidco long enough to know what it means, and it doesn't mean any offer on the landing page of plusnet (once you clicked get cashback on quidco)

want further proof , simply use live chat on quidco

there are a number of reasons why cashback gets declined and simply clicking get cashback to land on any page be it plusnet or any other with any offers on the landing page isn't one of them
n1ttygr1tty
21 Oct 15 #51
for those who are worried and want further assurances (not that they were needed anyway with this offer)

this is what I just asked live chat on quidco

just a question if you can clarify please, the offer for plusnet is currently £110 for adsl broadband, on the landing page of plusnet it states you get £50 cashback also once the line goes active,.....now in your terms and conditions its states ....•Cashback will not be paid in conjunction with any other offer, voucher or discount code unless listed on this page, or with any other discounts such as staff or student discounts.....can you confirm will this £50 cashback by plusnet effect my cashback with quidco in anyway shape or form?

***********(my name I blanked out)

I have looked into this for you and I can see that the £50 extra cashback is an offer on the Quidco page so this does not affect your cashback. The terms and conditions relate to any other voucher codes or discount being applied from somewhere other than Quidco.

so there you go just as I said above.

Fair enough, i just did a chat with a similar outcome:

Hi, i'm interested in the Plusnet £110 cashback offer. Plusnet also list £50 cashback on their own website directly. Would i be able to claim both cashbacks ok? Thanks

Hi Luke
Luke
Hi
Jack
As long as you do not enter any voucher codes or discount codes that are not listed on the Plusnet Quidco page, there should be no problem
'Cashback will not be paid in conjunction with any other offer, voucher or discount code unless listed on this page, or with any other discounts such as staff or student discounts'
Luke
It was the "any other offer" part that was confusing me as it could be considered to be another offer?
Jack
As long as you are not having to enter anything differently to you just going ahead with the purchase there will be no issue with this.
Luke
If you follow the Quidco link, it goes to a landing page that doesn't list the additional £50, I would have to then click the homepage to see the same broadband package with the £50 addidional cashback. Would clicking to the homepage first matter at all?
Jack
Nope you can click where you like as long as you have used a link to the retailer's site provided on their Quidco page
Luke
Ok, thanks for your help

Nothing in my case. I did that with Sky after something like 20 years with the full TV package and then adsl wasn't offered anything so I left.
Now BT have said they can't offer me anything to stay with them now I'm out of contract when I've phoned 3 times, so I guess instead of paying around £30 for infinity plus extra for BT TV and a line I'll have to switch again.

I've got sky ringing again at 5 coz I said I wasn't sure and wanted to speak to other half, so you reckon to tell them about this deal to see what they will do?
n1ttygr1tty
21 Oct 15 #76
you could do, I tried to haggle with them saying I found a deal on plusnet etc but they wouldn't budge on anything significant to keep me,

so I just left them, deal I got was £115.50 plus £50 better off:),

line rental with plusnet is cheaper at £16.99 , and so is the anytime calls £6 compare that with sky from 1st dec sky line rental £17.40. anytime calls £8, so that in itself is £2.41 a month alone

my line with plusnet goes live on 28th, cashback on topcashback is sitting nicely tracked, so all in all good offer,

I do it all the time, when they hike prices with line rental, ive swapped twice in one year so far this year all with cashback like above, just play them at their own game, haggle first if that doesn't work, and you find a better deal just leave and your quids in with cashback

Just now that I am with SKY but when I try to sign up to Post Office, TalkTalk or Plusnet and give them my telephone number and postcode - they all say a new line is required. I've just done the same, contact them within 30 days of receiving the price notification letter from Sky. You have to say to Sky that you are leaving due to price increase. They will then put a note on your account that you can leave penalty free, you are then free to switch to another supplier.
I informed Sky yesterday and have signed up with Plusnet today

Cheers to the op. Order placed this evening and tracked a couple of hours later @quidco

£110 cash back will finish tonite, manage to place the order in last 50 minutes. Was tempted to place when cash back was £60 couple of days ago. Gained extra £50!

That's very weird I'm with sky as well but don't have to pay for a new line when looking at talktalk or post office or ee but when looking at plusnet it says I do need a new line but this was previously because I was a customers. Reading more into it all sky connections use this LLU network but this shouldn't make any difference to having a new line as it still uses the BT network already. Unfortunately they make it harder and harder to keep changing ISP every time your contract is up with extra charges now and I do like cashback to bring the overall price down

I placed an order for the ADSL package just before midnight (competed the transaction at 23:55) however it is showing as tracked at £70 instead of £110 rate that I clicked through at.

Has this happen to anyone else?
n1ttygr1tty to ashbob
22 Oct 15 #109
it looks as tho you just missed the £110, the new rate is £70 now, you can raise a claim for incorrect cashback after 3 days, in the hope you get the extra £40

I have just signed up to plusnet they will contact sky to swap over . I was a bit concerned that if I informed sky they may put a stop order on my phone line which would stop the plusnet swap over. When I swapped from ee to to sky I never informed ee just.did the swap . I ha e the letter to prove I can cancel with no penalty so can't see sky trying to charge. Now I've got my swap date I might attempt to inform sky what do you think.

22 Oct 15 1 #111
The terms on the letter says you need to inform them so I would to be on the safe side. They won't cancel the line but will not on your account that you won't incur early exit fees.
I did this via live chat and they said about the note on my account and "you are now free to contact other suppliers"

Yes, you're right! the stupid quidco shows £2.50 for 12 month contract. I tried to bring the offer website by copying and pasting it simply didn't work after you put your postcode and landline number the £2.50 for 12 month contract will come back again. strange

I moved from Plusnet to Sky 2 weeks ago. Both gives same speed and no complaints so far!

26 Oct 15 2 #116
Topcashback tracked £110.10. But monthly fee is £2.50.

This will in fact brings it down to £6.65 per month.
backinstock
26 Oct 15 #117
Did this include the £50 from Plusnet?

ie:
12 Months x £16.99 = 203.88
12 Months x £2.50 = £30.00
1 x Internet Router = £6.95
1 x Plusnet £50 Cashback = -£50.00
1 x TCB £110.10 Cashback = -£110.10

Total = £80.73

No, when you go trough registration later the 12 months free broadband comes up.
I just finished my application.

I'm about to leave Sky for this deal via TCB for £111. Still not clear to me if BB is £2.99 (as screen says on click through) or free during registration. Also presume you DON'T get Plusnet £50 cash back on top. Can anyone confirm what they got via TCB. Free bb is a deal beaker for me as Sky have offered me a retention deal.
backinstock
26 Oct 15 #120
I didn't get the 12 months free, but still took out a package. I wasn't offered much from Sky tbh.

This is very misleading from Topcashback/Quidco. They offer cashback but charge an extra £30 a year and don't seem to offer £50 Plusnet cashback.
jb66
26 Oct 15 #122
They used to. But if they have now stopped it's misleading
TheChiefExecutive
26 Oct 15 2 #123
This is misleading, because if you go direct to plusnet bb is free and there is £50 cash back. Go via TCB and you get (hopefully) £111 but you pay £35.88 for broadband and miss out on the £50 cash back. Plus net direct gives you £85.88 of value back. TCB does not give you £111 extra it only gives you (hopefully) £25.12 on top. The assured £50 and free bb seems like a safer deal (and a quicker lower bill).

Sky (existing bb and phone, but no TV) have offered (if I take up a TV package) at 60% discount with £100 credit. Original pack is £8 so costs -£4 over 12 months. If I take TV (but only if I take TV) I can get a line rental discount of £10 per month but I must pay £7.50 for broadband. Cost for year is £174.80. So a close call with Plusnet switch, but no disruption to service, although all the potential hassle of cancelling Sky TV in 12 months time.

Plusnet charge £30 cessation charge while leaving them:

http://www.plus.net/support/customer_service/billing/cessation_charges.shtml

They argue that all ISPs charge this, but the reality is that no ISP passes this charge onto the customer.

They will them argue that you can use a MAC code to transfer to another ISP and avoid this charge, the reality is that MAC codes are thing of the past and most ISPs now have their LLUs and don't require MAC codes.

I'd imagine Plusnet will raise their prices within 12 months allowing customers to jump ship free of charge - maybe back to Sky in my wife's name. :smirk:

Have a look at your first bill under

https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=view_transactions&s=0

It should show something like:

1 ADSL Initial Subscription - - £9.99
1 Special Offer Discount - - -£9.99

So the discount cancels out the ADSL subscription.
