I'd happily bet a weeks wages if you had a choice between a "Made In Turkey" or a say, "Made in Poland" or "Made in Czech Republic" never mind Korea or Japan, you wouldn't be buying the Turkish made one. You'll say not of course - but WOULDN'T.
Odd how it's only this country who bangs the "Where it's from doesn't matter" drum.
Thats why we've got almost no manufacturing left - because to every other nationality, it DOES

heres a copy of the comment after the amazon review, so it looks like hukd has been lying to me and these tvs are made by Alcatel and not Vestel. The scariest brand name must be Baird which is sold in Bright house (theres a blast from the past)
I have been told by local by local storey adviser, that some Panasonic TV are not really Panasonic, but re-branded Alcatel. There were two Panasonic TVs side by side. Cheaper one with bigger screen, but very bad viewing angles and not so nice colours and another one, more expensive smaller screen, but good viewing angles brilliant colours. I think you were cheated big time. If TV does not support HEVC it cannot be called 4K TV. It supposed to be called combo of UHD monitor and FHD TV. And this TV not supposed to cost more that Finlux or Hisense.

Nope, they're made by Vestel. I don't even think Alcatel make TV's just communication equipment but their Chinese parent company TCL do manufacture TV's.

True, this tv is not a true 4K tv by any mean, whoever from panasonic is making decision to release tvs like this are risking jobs of thousands of people who work for this company. We recently seen nokia sinking and now panasonic....

I for one, will NOT be buying Panasonic in future due to this idiotic decision to get them made in Turkey. I'm due another TV and had been thinking Panasonic. Not now. I'll be wanting assurances on where the Sony/Samsung/LG I pick is made before parting with £££££'s now.
Panasonic never again.

Question is not where they were made, but who made them and what sort of technology and how reliable it is.
There is no NATIONALISM in technology.

I agree with the comment above. Vestel may make a good tv but what is happening here is that people truly believe they are buying a Panasonic tv and not someone else's. It's fraudulent in a way because Panasonic have a good brand name that goes back many years. Vestel does not. That is something that comes with time or re-branding or just by invention or re-invention of something, like Apple with the ipod touch. Apple have been there for many years supplying expensive computers and then it comes up with the ipod touch. I didn't mention ipod because basically that's just taking an mp3 player and making it different but the ipod touch was really a very clever invention. I think they then developed it into a phone and ruined it lol. Sorry iphone users but whilst I may use a macbook I am a strong fan of android. I just gave this as an example of something that can take a company from something that is little known to somewhere where nearly every house will have an apple product of one description. Vestel may do that one day but they haven't earned it yet in the uk. They hide behind good names of old such as JVC, Hitachi, Grundig even Toshiba. For people who maybe don't use the internet a lot or don't research anything who were buying electronics in the 80's and 90's these names are well remembered for their quality and reliability.
To me this is a bad move by Panasonic. It's like buying a BMW or Mercedes only to find out it's been made in the MG factory in China.

Its comes down to this, Panasonic over engineer their products to last using quality components. Vestel on the other hand don't, they use cheap components that are barely adequate for their intended job. As proved above, this "Panasonic" is one of Vestel's in-house designs which is also shared by a multitude of other off brand names. They just aren't built to last, well not as long as a Panasonic anyway.

Respectable TV and very reasonable price. You will struggle to get 3D, 4K, 55inch in any brand for a better price so worth considering if you are looking for these things. Yes it is not a true Panasonic, but get yourself down to the shop and see if you like the picture and operation rather than reading a gazillion reviews about contrast, clouding and motion blur that 95% of us will never even notice. The thought that less well known brands will not last is misguided IMO. TVs are becoming less reliable as they become smarter as there is more to go wrong, but the big brands suffer as well.

Looks like all cheaper end TV's are made by Vestel and the numerous Chinese brands. There is not enough profit to be made in the low end of the market for the big names. The higher end stuff is where the investment in new technology is i.e. big name brands.
As soon as a Panasonic is posted someone always pops up to say 'Vestel' without knowing if it is true or not. Won't be long before Vestel are producing TV's everyone wants.
Who would have bought a Samsung TV 15 years ago? Many of the Chinese brands sell more TV's in China than many manufacturers sell in the world.

I came looking for a Vestel comment and I wasn't disappointed.
It seems a stupid decision to only make half your TV's and still infer that they're ALL made by you. People slagging them off when it's discovered to not be the case only hurts the brand, surely.

Vestel Panasonic's will be no different to a supermarket own brand, they'll share the same chassis, components, panel etc and wont be made to a higher standard. The only notable difference on the 4K Vestel Pannys that I've noticed is they've made the menu look like an older Panasonic menu system.
Its slightly convincing but the fonts are all Vestel, the graphics are blurry and look cheap (its basically an overlay) and the three step (low/medium/high) backlight adjustment is a dead giveaway.

The lower 300 and 400 models are AFAIK, however some argue the Vestel made Panasonic will still be better than other not brands as the Pan will have access to better proprietary picture processing software. At the end of the day if it looks good...

Do you know if all Panasonic's made by Vestel now or is it just the entry models? I was considering the TX55CX680.

Yeah, its a Vestel - not better quality than a Supermarket own brand.
