Patriot are not unknown. They make great RAM with lifetime warranty as well SSDs and this new SSD comes with a 3 year warranty. Im sorry but Patriot are known and reliable

Looks okay, reviews are a bit hard to come by - but Patriot are pretty good in the memory department. Scan is one of those companies though, you either have a great experience or an awful one.

Reviews arent in yet because its brand new. If you want to wait thats understandable but it seems a good price already
EDIT: Reviews are good on newegg, however one complained it died after 1 month but it does have a 3 year warranty

With these unknown brands I'd be careful and take regular backups (as you should be already doing really)

would this work in my old pc,it has a sata connection which i use for my hard drive just now but it is a few years old
das5665 to twinsen
19 Oct 151#11
It will work fine, although depending on the SATA version it may not achieve full speed. If it is SATA 2 then dont worry that'll still be fast to use.

not to worried about the speed but it will speed up boot time etc etc i think, thanks for the reply

Sorry this is coming after your purchase, but if as seems quite possible this is smaller capacity than your current HDD it can make the transition pretty fiddly, assuming you want to keep your current boot drive config.
das5665

It sure will. Will take around 10-15 seconds and then load programs almost instantly after being clicked upon

meant to ask,do you need the Dynamode 2.5" to 3.5" HDD/SSD Conversion Cradle Bracket too?
das5665
19 Oct 151#15
I wouldn't think so unless the mounts dont support 2.5" drives even though they should. Im sure it would be fine without a mount too as it wont move due to it being solid state

If you're feeling a little "ghetto" tape also works. As das mentioned, as there's no moving parts it doesn't matter where it's mounted if its even mounted at all :stuck_out_tongue:

If I'm right, Patriot Memory have only ever made memory products and accessories... Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't find anything on the net about Patriot making laptops...
das5665
19 Oct 15#21
They made laptops before 2000 so im sure they're outdated

Not the same model so not a fair comparison but...
Notice all the other drives average read/write speeds are within 1% of their maximum speeds but the Patriot drops to nearly 50%...Maybe something they've sorted and the reason for the move from 'Blaze' to 'Blast'.
Just a heads up that I would hunt for a real world review of this drive.

I remember selling a few Patriot laptops when I worked in Dixons. Seem to remember they were lower quality than the Advent and eMachine kit.
However I know the components are better.
Since Patriot are unknown and made a crap laptop 2 decades ago I would opt for the Kingston.

Have you done any research or ever looked into that specific drive? Its the worst SSD out there. Not much faster than a normal HDD for a LOT more.

So these laptops they made are over 15 years old... and someone's slagging off their memory products (which I've heard are pretty decent!) based on that a product they sold donkey's years ago and had nowt to do with SSDs?
Hmm!

Twas 2001 and yes I remeber it well, couldn't buy replacement parts, the CD drive broke (yes CD) and the whole experience was not great. Cost £799.99 from Currys and came with a free Corniche laptop bag. I thought I was quite cool with my laptop when not many people had them even though it weighed more than Gemma Collins left buttock!
True story and never like Patriot since then to be honest ALTHOUGH they might have executed a few of the Chinese workers as a warning to the rest and could be OK. people have posted above that drives have failed and reviews are hard to come by. 36 month warranty sounds impressive but if the drives fail then one after another after another is se nor ornament.

I think you'll find:
Patriot laptops were a brand name PC World/Dixons used like Saisho and Matsui.
Patriot Memory is another company entirely who've always made memory products.
But don't let that from making informed decisions to never buy Patriot memory

I've ordered thousands of £ worth of goods from them over the years, never had an issue.
Same with Overclockers. Which is my preferred retailer providing they've got the best price.
Ever since they admirably dealt with the 970 fiasco they've jumped to the top of my list for customer service.
