So you're comparing the value of this to an iPhone? Pretty much says it all really about the iPhone. The iPhone 6s is filled with the latest tech. This is outdated.
As I was saying, the CPU in this phone phone is poor. The gpu is very very bad. Check this out.

By the time they've had to pay the vat when importing them plus Amazon fees I doubt they are making a huge profit even with a 35% increase in the price.

Have the 8gb & its a great little phone but memory is a pain, even after transferring lots to SD card, cache needs clearing regularly.
16gb & extra ram make it a quality phone. Screen is fine compared to wifes S4

A UMI Iron, Elephone P8000 or Xiaomi Note 2 Pro would be superior to this in every way, yet about 30% cheaper. Only if we had mainstream vendors for these phones in the UK rather than having to go the Bang good/Focal Price/ Alibaba route. I'm aware a few small time UK-based Amazon and Ebay sellers offer these phones, but there is a significant jacking up of the price, by about 35%.

Considering that a sub 1080p phone can be sold for more than 500 pounds (iphone 6s) I think it's perfectly fine for a low cost phone to be sub 1080p
Plus it doesn't come with bloatware and it is made by a very reliable company.

Actually that video guide is just a load of surveys or something - don't bother clicking on it!!! I'll delete that one!
There's a forum here for getting rid of bloatware and rooting your phone :
Thanks for the info - I might try it anyway.... I was gonna get it on talkmobile as I rarely use my phone out of the house!
Although for 3 quid a month extra I may as well make full use of it I suppose and go for the 4G on voda.
I've never tried anything like that before - but would this sort it out a bit? (I would only do this if you were really getting that pee'd off with it!)
I might get one and if it gets annoying then I might try sticking this marshmallow thing on it.....!
Anyone else done this?

Paid £125 for a 2nd gen dual sim moto g last December so think this is still too expensive for what is not that much of a step up and 10 months later imo.
espirit77
9 Oct 15#55
I've had it about 3-4 weeks. First off, I should say the screen, size and build is all good - and lighter and thinner than the moto g (or even E) by far (2nd gen). The only time I get annoyed with it, is when it lags, when vodaphone tries to make me use it's bloatware to make calls (although I could prob hide these apps), and when swiping between screens (it gets stuck). Therefore if you're a fan of the swipe left / swipe right function, you may want to look elsewhere.
I'm sure this phone will feel dated in 1 year, nevermind two. I bought for £135 with £10 credit, and have now unlocked for £3 and using with an iD ayce plan for £20 a month - but 4g is in and out, so prob switch back to Voda.
My next phone will prob be a samsung, never had a problem with my s4 so I'm guessing I'd be thrilled with the s6 - although of course price is a lot higher.

Wide Awake Jake to espirit77
9 Oct 15#54
I've been considering getting the ultra 6 for a week or so - only because it's 9.50 a month - and I pay a tenner a month on giff gaff sim only at the mo. Is the ultra 6 that bad? I know my android tablet (samsung galaxy tab 3) has started to play up a bit - but so does my iphone 4s which is into it's 4th year now!
I liked the 4s because it's pretty sturdy and doesn't freeze up (very often but more so recently) etc..
How long before the ultra 6 started playing up? I'll have it on a 2 year contract so if it's rubbish I might get something else.

Have to agree this isn't the budget phone that the 1st moto g was. Using one myself still and would love a new one with the extra space this gives but for £50 more I would think the Moto X from Expansys makes better sense.
Admittedly my Moto G 1st gen only cost me £7 after using my Tesco Clubcard boost, so this is always going to seem a little over priced to me.

If you just have the phone out on a table then there is nothing to alert you to new messages or app alerts.
However if you move the phone it wakes the display to show any app notifications with symbols. You don't need to push a button or unlock it - just movement is enough to briefly wake the display.
In day to day use I've noticed very little difference between this and the Moto 4G (2nd gen).

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving in the USA and the USA Thanksgiving is always the fourth Thursday in November.
As Thanksgiving has become a long weekend holiday, it's become the tradition for many Americans to start the bulk of their Christmas shopping on that 4th Friday in November and they have come to expect big sales.

I think there's a 5.1 due out soon, and there have been 2 OTA updates in the last couple of months so it does seem supported still. Camera no where near as good as the wifes 1020 (but then what phone is) but a heck of a lot better than my old 1st gen moto G. I find it quite decent in good light. Still, perhaps not having the newest version of android isn't all bad, the moto G had a lollipop update and that made my phone near unusable as it became so laggy and killed battery life.
White wasn't available when I got mine, and from the pictures it does look nicer. Silver looks a bit crap, but stick it in a case and no one will ever know!

I have a SU6 in white and it doesn't look cheap to me. The specs are definitely better than the Moto G but there are two disadvantages - possible lack of OS upgrades and a poor camera. The camera is deceptive - megapixels is high, colours look good on the screen but the detail it captures is really bad.
Its like phone top trumps in here. Above has compass, no bloatware other than 2 apps that can be uninstalled, is cheaper and utterly spanks the moto g in spec.
Downside is it feels and looks cheap.

Good price - this is exactly what I was waiting for, because the 1GB version is honestly a bit of a joke. The nexus are stock, the xperia are close to stock. Its only maybe samsungs and, at a push, the LGs that are hampered by their extravagant software.
the snapdragon 410 in this phone trades blows with the S4 pro in the 2012 nexus 4.
The graphics in moto g 3rd are bad (adreno 306). With the nexus 4s adreno 320, doubling graphics performance.
So a 3 year old chip has double the graphics of this, let alone the newer chips.
People should really research what they buy and not jump on the bandwagon.
