I'm booked with air China for December great prices but one of the worse for for service. Reviews are not very good.

They really aren't that bad, they were great when I flew with them. I mean they aren't as good as say, Emirates, but they are way better than companies like SAS.

I booked a direct flight with Eva for £430 in January (30% sale recently). Airline is good, but luggage allowance poor at 20kg. and staff at Heathrow miserable in my experience.

Are you upset with being given 20kg, to take to Thailand for under £400? Oh the last part of your comment, just wow.
I flew Heathrow to Bangkok, Thailand (via china Shang Zhou) and could not have thanked the staff for being helpful enough. We used Southern China Airline, I paid £440 & only had 15kg for the hold iirc. Even then I ended up using 1/3 of the clothes I took.
We had a massive new plane on the 9 hour Heathrow / china leg (& return), led TV's, usb charging ports, plenty of seating space/leg room, with a smaller plane for the china - Bangkok (& return). The meals were spot on, the flight staff were lovely and in general nothing was a problem!

It's luck of the draw in a lot of cases. I often don't find them cheery, but it's not fair to say it about all of them.
Still, for a cheap flight I'm willing to sacrifice a smile at check-in!

Meanwhile half of the flights are populated by smelly fat people who don't have to pay extra for hauling all that lard.
