New dad to be, very confused by the array of prams/travel systems/pushchairs. What would you more experienced folks suggest as a "starter pack"?

something very cheap to start with. We got something similar to this although mamas and pappas second hand for £50 it included an ISO fix car seat base (car seats without ISO fix are a pain) and lots of covers. our lad is 6 months old. The pushchair and car seat still works fine well although he prefers to be carried in a sling.
We picked up a rugged off road buggy from freecycle which we will put him into when he is big enough for it in 3 or 4 months. They sell for £399 new.
lots of second hand bargains to be had. Bit of buying new buy cheap. I have friends with £1000+ buggies but they often only use them for 12 to 18 months before buying something cheap and really light weight plus rugged when the baby is bigger.

This is the ultimate reasonably priced travel system .... I was given one by a family friend when i was having my first child .... I loved it so much it is compact lightweight spacious basket..... Im now getting the same for my third baby
