got this a couple of weeks back, brilliant camera! only actually takes 3 aa batteries, need to be good ones tho. the ones Fuji included only lasted a few minutes! I use the Duracell stay charged 2650mAh ones and the last ages! very very good value for money camera and as for refurbished, mine is indistinguishable from new so worry not!

Had refurbs from Fuji on 2 different occasions, no problems at all & both were as new.

Seems cheap for a camera with 36x optical zoom!

How much of an improvement would this be over the camera my xperia z2 uses ? serious question.

If you need the zoom, then yeah, a lot. If you rarely find yourself zooming in when taking a photo, avoid this camera. Currently selling mine!
My Panasonic DMC FZ8 has just gone doolally (that's a technical term btw) and I loved it. Was looking to buy a cheap replacement for general snapping at stuff.
Anyone care to comment on if this would make a decent replacement please?

Do Fuji cameras still take their own SD cards?
Always put me off them in the past.

Though I dont own this oarticular model , over the years I swear by Fuji caméras and own a few. Not everybody wants to manually fiddle around with settings or changing lenses and getting sand in. Technology has moved on, you just zoom to what you want and point and shoot.
There are zillons of progs now adays on windows and android to put in effects and manipulate your photos if you want. As to Aa batteries they are preferable as they are cheap. .4 rechargeable batteries is £2 in the pound shop, though better life would be had out of aldi or lidal, or maplin deals on higher capacity batteries.
If you are a dedicated camera nut you may enjoy paying loads of money for a camera , but for the rest of us there is no perceivable difference in the resultant shot of say your holiday shots compared to a fuji camera.
Thanks op for posting I am sure it will help a few people and for the money and a 50 zoom you cannot go wrong.
