Aldi's special buys magazine is promoting the Dyson DC30 handheld vacuum cleaner. They should be in all stores across the country next Thursday (29th October). Great price at £99.99. Includes a 2 year warranty.

i've been reading up on the dyson handhelds a bit recently cuz i'd like a smaller one & this one only runs for 6 mins and is meant for spot cleaning-personally i'd rather pay the extra £70 to get 15/20 mins use. just a warning to anyone excleaning it to be a 'proper' dyson!

I disagree with the haters. If you want a hand held vacuum, this is fine. Suction is what you would expect from a Dyson. It only lasts 6 minutes but if you're only picking little bits up or doing the car this is ideal. It's not a vacuum for doing all the house.

Yes you can but be aware, the wand version is a different machine, these aren't the versions that can be used as a portable upright, if thats what you mean. Those ones (typically £250 ish), use the same chassis, have a different, more powerful motor.

We're have they got these from? old stock! and only run for max of 6 minutes at best? You can keep this the two models after this are much better. I think you get what you pay for and being a Dyson there's a reason it's cheap.

6 mins is low, i've got a DC34 ( so better model) that's now a few years old, but i wouldn't be without it.
Quick clean up after the kids at dinner time before the dog gets it, or that odd sugar/flour spillage, it saves me getting the big hoover out, and a dustpan and brush wouldn't get it all.
For specific jobs, it's brilliant. For top to bottom cleaning of the house? Definately not.

This is a very outdated model as they are now up to the V6 series of which is equal to the DC59 models. I would highly recommend saving the disappointment and going for a standard V6. More suction power thanks to the V6 motor, comes with the wand and the motorised cleaning head and the battery lasts up to a more useful 20 mins.

bought one of these two years ago on offer, probably one of our most used gadgets. Do not be put off by the 6 mins, how often do you spend longer than 6 minutes with a dust pan and brush? It takes seconds to get rid of those piles of dust and food waste that accumulate in the edges and corners each day, then you just put it back in the cupboard. Use it daily, prolly charge once every two weeks. That said, £100 vs a £3 dust pan and brush ? It's an indulgence...

I'm very unhappy with dyson.
I have a handheld model can't remember which one. Within the first year the battery needed replacing which they did under warranty. Then a tiny plastic clip which holds the cyclone assembly to the battery part broke. Just 2 weeks out of warranty. You can't buy the likely 50p plastic clip.... You have to buy a £37 assembly. I bought it. 4 weeks later the battery pack died. Need another £40 part to continue using it.
Considering this machine is used for a few minutes a week, and I paid about £200 for it, it works out a very expensive investment. I have tried to argue the fit for purpose arguement, but they're not interested. I'm going to have to waste my time chasing this up with a formal complaint.
I'm extremely unhappy with them.

Dyson was created for the apple generation (then same people that complain they can't get a 100% mortgage anymore). For the rest of us sensible people buy a Henry Hoover for £100 and it will do everything and last ages. Had mine for 8 years, have never put a bag in it or had any issues. Then again anyone considering kiting their house out with £400+ on a variety of Dyson gadgets go ahead.. you deserve it.. leave property ownership to sensible people.

I purchased one of these about 8 months ago from Argos but ended up returning it. The suction is pretty poor it struggled to pick up basic bits. The brush bit on the end peeled off after only 2 weeks of use and you just find yourself charging it 24,7! When u want to use it its not charged and when it is charged and used you have to recharge it.. Also Tesco had it on offer at start of year for about £85 and with Black Friday coming up worth the wait.
