Don't touch BT i ordered this similar deal awhile ago was meant to be installed on the 16th and had nothing but problems I'm on the phone all the time to indian call centres who feed me crap even speaking to a manager gets you nowhere but " i'll call you back in a week" its never tomorrow always a week later. I'm about to cancel all direct debts with them if nothing is sorted by this week, looking at reviews this is always happening.
(don't use BT if you are in a new build as well it won't be sorted on the promised date as if you need outside work it will probably never happen.)

Yes the voucher needs to be claimed. Otherwise you will not have it. It is not straightforward. You just need to read the T&Cs and far before ordering. I was signed up to BT 2 years ago. Have some delay on the installation. Missed by a week. But in the end got £120 from Topcashback and sainsbury's voucher came a month later through post.

Hi guys, my cashback has been paid but I never got my vouchers. didn't realise that you have to order them. You have six months from the date of purchase to make a claim and it can be done at https://www.vouchers.bt.com/offer/sainsburys/claim

Just had my cashback of £210 paid by quidco and I received the £100 sainsburys voucher 2 weeks ago, for all the horror stories about bt I can honestly say I've found the whole process easy and hassle free,, I had plenty of communication from bt about install dates and engineer visit. One happy customer here

I can't find the exact BT deal that was posted that I used, but thanks to those who post them. I paid approx £30 for fibre activation, 6.95 for router delivery and 194.28 for line rental. Then on top of that I paid £3pm for a call package and £10pm for fibre. A yearly spend of £385.98. Both my Sainsburys voucher (as I often shop there) and my cashback have both rolled in now, a combined sum of £290. So the net cost of unlimited 38mb fibre, weekend calls and line rental is £95.98 for the year, or £7.99 a month if you prefer. I also sold my Homehub on eBay and made another £30 after fees, as I have an Asus router - so my actual outlay will be about £5.50 a month at the end of 12 months.

To make things even sweeter being a BT customer meant I could switch my phone sim to them as well, for 2gb data and 500 mins I'm paying £8pm, with an expected £20 amazon voucher and £40 cashback. If that all works out then the cost will effectively be £3pm. That's not too bad, and best of all I now get reception in my lounge and it's 4G too.

Previously I was with Sky and I've gotta say, I was sort of fearing the worst switching to BT, but it's all gone to plan thus far. I'll be switching again at the end of my contract if I can grab another deal like this one!

A cautionary tale….I switched from Sky to BT on the basis of the last “hot deal”.

BT promised a smooth transition and it has been anything but. Should have been live 20th October but BT failed spectacularly to flip the switch.

Now after hours of calls and live chat I am told that it will be live on….5th November. Complete and utter shambles.

Enter into the Devil’s Deal at your own peril…

We switched too and were meant to have broadband by the 19th October - nothing! Customer service just lie to me saying it should be ok in the next couple of days. The last thing I've got is an activation date for the 10th Nov. I've cancelled and apparently I need to wait until the 11th for the order to close off before I can order with a new provider.

The product's great, but if anything goes wrong you're in a world of pain. I've come out of a month and a half of hours daily on their online chat windows, endless waits on the phone, broken promises... Honestly, I felt stoned when I was dealing with them, the service was so bad it just felt surreal. The worst company I've ever had to deal with, bar none. If you don't need any of the BT exclusives, avoid it like root canal surgery.

I got the BT black Friday deal last year. Contract is coming up soon so I'll be looking for a deal with one of the companies. I called bt and they said they would match my current £10 a month deal (unlimited fibre) and make bt Europe half price for the 12 months. Broadband is OK although I've had to reset a few times lately.

Anyone had any better retention deals?

I got a broadband+line rental+weekend calls deal, all for £23 a month via TCB. As promised I got £75 Sainsburys voucher but it took about 3 months to track for £150 cash back. Haven't got the cash back yet, that's fine. But instead of a working working broadband I got a crap broadband that goes down several times a day. I never had issue with sky all these years on the same line, same number, though I never got more than 3Mbps speed, at least I had a stable connection with sky but not with BT. I kept calling BT call centres every day, I don't blame them, it is not their fault, all they are doing is to take the first level support calls for BT but Something is not right with BT, which no one trying to understand and fix. I am fed up completely with BT, I have no choice but to be stuck up with them for a year. Their broadband is nasty slow, you can se the Internet disconnects all the time and you will be helpless and have to wait until it comes back on its own. Even if you manage to get hold of someone in the UK to talk about your problems, they pretend to listen but basically they don't care, you are on your own. I have another 10 months to live with this pain. Big mistake to switch. This is BT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT.. Sorry man, you should be really lucky if your connection works the way you wanted

Can't comment on the call centre, but I got Sky in my new build a year ago and had issues with needing outside work (took 3 months to connect my phone line...), but this was down to BT Openreach, which is totally separate to BT Broadband. So even if you went with another provider, you would probably of had the same issues (joys of a new build!).

I have now switched to BT on a similar deal to this a month ago, had no issues at all.

I pay for up to 38mb, and I actually get 38mb. The only hitch I have seen from BT is that their router isn't the greatest - it likes to drop out from time to time. Usually in the evening when you're in the middle of doing something (peak time)

Customer service with BT is the worst, I've moved to Sky because of it. Never had an issue with the broadband but they constantly got my bill wrong and charge whatever they want, when you call they can't explain why and just keep repeating the same scripted answers.

Changed over yesterday and the transfer was seamless, so far actually getting slightly better speed with Sky, but that might settle.

I will never go back to BT.

Any BT BB customers on here?
Just wanted to ask if you get 10mbps upload speed?

I know Sky provides this on their 38/76mbps products and BT seems to make the same claim on their products page.
I'm looking around for cheap deal but have been put off PlusNet with their measly 1.9mbps upload speed.

I had no issue with transferring to BT last month but time will tell as waiting for gift cards. First experience of customer service last weekend was not great, passed around various departments with no great joy. But then again I came from the hell that was talktalk CS (who knows who has all my personal details now!) so just happy to be out of that.

Similar issue with me.

I ordered BT Infinity 1 unlimited for £10 a month, plus £120 from TCB and £100 sainsbury voucher. I thought great deal, I was switching over from Sky.
I was given the dates for the installation and when no one showed up, I gave BT a call. Now the Indian support team were hopeless, I kept getting bounced around from dept to dept.
In the end they told me my order was cancelled, although no one had told me prior to this.

I was told to re-order online so I can get my voucher etc and then call back and I will be prioritised.

When I went to order online, there was no longer a sainsbury voucher and TCB were only offering £21. The earliest date to select from was just over 2 weeks later, but I thought I just need to call them to get it earlier.
So I order anyway, call them back and asked to be prioritised and they said there's no such thing and not possible to do so.

so I've lost out on TCB, lost the voucher and spent long on the phone to them. All this before I've even gone live.

Any broadband/fibreoptic provider - There will be mixed reviews and experiences for sure.

Stay away from BT!!!
I moved to BT on 27/8, paid a full year's line rental upfront and no incoming calls for 6 weeks. BT kept threatening about £129 charge for an engineer's visit to check the issue. Finally after numerous phone calls and email, incoming calls started on 9/10/15.
They offered £18.00 in compensation and I am now going to the Ombudsman for the appalling service.
Please save yourself from nothing but Big Trouble (BT).

I moved from plusnet. Can't comment on CS as not had to use them yet, but line is stable, bundled router ain't bad although can't turn off fon without opting out. Quidco was paid out in a month, and received sainsburies voucher 2 weeks after filling in the online form. So far, can't fault them.

My advice from personal experience is do not go anywhere near BT. Almost never go through correct DPA checks when I've called and every time I asked to get something changed on the account they messed up. And when I say every time I mean that absolutely LITERALLY and not figuratively, and we're talking about 5 or 6 times over the course of my time with them. The last straw was phoning up to switch from online to paper billing. I was on the phone for more than an hour and a half while the idiot tried to sort out what should have taken no more than 30 seconds...in that time, the majority of which he placed me on hold, he managed to remove BT sport, try and place me under a new contract, oh and didn't actually change it over to paper billing. Joke of a company that should be avoided at all costs with quite possibly the poorest trained or recruited staff I've ever come across in any call centre.

I made the mistake of leaving BT and going to TalkTalk, total rubbish! BT installed my Broadband promptly and it was great, out of the the WiFi Router, I got about 34Mb download at my PC, I went to TalkTalk after 12 months when price went up, but with TalkTalk Router I only get 22Mb Max, when I phone them I get the usual run around, electrical interference, too many connected to network, blah, blah, blah, but no other support, I will go back to BT when 18 months is finished, that is if I have any money left after bank details go live!

Had infinity for 2 years with no problems so would have given BT 10 out of 10. However made the fatal mistake of ordering BT tv UHD box package. Initial install appointment no engineer turned up. Rebooked for a week later which my wife booked a holiday for so someone was in. Engineer turned up and was a bit creepy making quite suggestive remarks etc... When i got in found they had just installed a normal tv box not UHD. Endless hours on hold to India, finally rang cancellations and spoke to helpful uk lady who booked an engineer to come out and swap boxes. Engineer turns up for the early morning slot empty handed (ive booked morning off work) and he had no idea he was swapping boxes so sent him on his way. This has been going on for 5 weeks now and to add insult they are billing me for UHD even though ive not had it yet. I have an Engineer coming tomorrow to finally solve. If he has no UHD box then i am at my wits end as i cannot face going through their customer service department again. I am desperatley trying to pay this company £600 a year for a service and they seem to literally not give a flying fckk on customer satisfaction. No box tomorrow and i am cancelling their whole package and just buying an android box for champions league same as everyone else ar work.

I got Infinity in September and I was amazed how smoothly it went, they gave me a day that it was going to activate on and it was done on that day. Your service goes down for 30 mins and during that time you can setup your new modem/router. I got my Sainsbury's voucher not even a month after (£100) but the cashback from quidco went from November payment to March 2016. The service has been great and im getting 95% of the max performance down and up.

Just know what you are letting yourself in for.
I went for Infinity 2 full works. Cashback paid out after 3 months, Sainsburys came soon after claiming them.
Service was great, I love the design of the hub and the TV box is tiny quiet and pretty quick.
Few DNS slowdowns never really browsed as fast as you would think streaming HD was a bit hit and miss even on 60Mb speedtests.
Then the price rises. Free sport became a £5, HD pack went up 33% another £1. Calls and rental went up then my TV pack went up 25% £2.50. Now I have left and I am being charged for stuff i dont have.
Customer service is THE worst i have ever come across and I had a lot of trouble with VM. Lies, massive on hold times, more lies, missed return calls, missed notes on calls, promises and denials. You will get a helpful person in the end. but then it turns out they lie or don't go through with agreements.
They could be the best service provider, but the systems and back office drag them down.

Make sure you have a back up (4G or something) in case BT does not manage to install a working broadband on the installation date (which will most likely be the case).
When BT broadband got installed in my place, I router was sent to me well in advance but they only managed to install a working broadband connection after 20 days (during which they missed 3 engineer visits, lies upon lies that the broadband will come on by the end of the day (for every day that I called the customer service).............no broadband service at all). Once installed, however, the service has been fine (for 9 months now).

Have alternated between BT and Sky a couple of times tbh I think BT is marginally better in terms of speed though Sky wins hands down with customer service.

Been with BT for a few years now. Never had a problem with them. Speeds in my area not very good, get around 35mb/s but I can live with that. No other provider could beat it. Not had any issues at all. Price drops year on year. Can't complain.

I also swapped from Plusnet to BT when they put the price up, getting more than double the speed with BT now. But the customer service is bloody awful, got my £170 cashback from Quidco no problem, had to chase for Sainsburys voucher which I just got. They put me on the wrong plan and everyone (India and UK) were clueless as to how to correct it, eventually someone in the UK billing team sorted it in 5 mins after more than a month passed. Speed and connection is excellent

You've probably already tried this but for wifi problems
- check the router frequency, might be the same as everyone elses and hence conflicts
- if you have an Android phone have a look at 'wifi analyser', it might show you whats going on
- if the problems are in other rooms get a repeater, about £15->£20 quid
- if you don't use it switch off BT anywhere

Worst case scenario, use the BT router as just a modem and get another router, which from your description is probably what your already doing, but then that should have fixed it unless the problem isn't wifi but the actual connection itself.

pingtest and speedtest are your friends

You shouldn't have to do any of these things but you'll get the same problems with talk talk, sky, etc

I think BT are great, always helpful and understanding if unforeseen things happen, just renewed contract, still prefer sky's service/product but loving amc and bt sports channels.

Maybe because I live in London (near Liverpool Street to be precise) I have had BT Infinity totally unlimited and its been flawless and no issues from the beginning...out of the companies that I have used pror, Sky was the worst, O2 was decent and Plusnet was better them two...so looking to remain with BT if they can offer me a better deal to stay with them when my contract runs out in December...
copthis1
23 Oct 15 #8
I have been on BT infinity for donkeys. Of a max speed of 76MB, I get 62-65 and have suffered no disconnections. Every year I ring up, threaten to leave and get a discount. Yesterday I got my monthly charge dropped from £25.65 to £18.75.

Personally I can't fault them.

Terrible company - Gift card may or may not turn up. Mine didn't. After 3 months of wrangling they finally sent one - with a zero balance!

Hopeless customer service, and that's before considering they like to implement mid contract price rises with a default opt in for their TV, BT Sport and whatever next they think they get away with. Then you are forced to contact their awful customer service to opt out, making sure they don't overcharge you, or mess up your monthly billing in some other way.

Upside is I'm 8 months into a 12 month contract, and can't wait to leave.
jetskichimp to superpacman1972
23 Oct 15 #48
Pretty much the same here, but I have 7 months left, they are really poor at customer service, come the end of contract I will be looking elsewhere.

I got my £150 quidco cashback from BT Infinity recently. Installed a couple of months ago and no problems so far, thankfully.

23 Oct 15 1 #32
Their deal yesterday was better. £10 a month for their unlimited infinity 1 + weekend calls.
OKnotOK to seabs
23 Oct 15 #46
If you are able to get the cashback on the ones available today then I suppose they are better value.
You can get the unlimited for £20 a month with a £125 gift card. £10 more per month for 12 months (£120) but with a free £125 card, so £5 better off.

Having said that I meant to sign up to the £10 a month deal yesterday but all the talk about bad customer service put me off.
teaganmarieravetta
23 Oct 15 #43
really disappointed with there attitude, Sky are offering line rental and fiber 38mb unlimited for £28 per month coming to the end of my contract after having been with them for a while and they wont budge on offering me the same service for £40 a month.

appreciate loyalty doesn't pay any more but I expected them to at least match the same deal as sky seeing as they are offering new customers the same deal.

Shame

Bit tired of all the hate BT gets: I've been with them for several years and I've never had a problem with them. My BT infinity connection has never had a problem and the only nit-picking gripe I could possibly mention would be that it took them a few weeks to send out an engineer for the phone line when I first moved in to the house.

I personally know plenty of other people that are more than content with their service and just because they don't feel the need to rant about it on various websites doesn't mean that BT don't provide a good service. I've had plenty of bad experiences with Sky, Orange (when they did broadband) and TalkTalk.

BT employee alert.

Seriously though, just think yourself lucky.

There is a reason BT are on a run of awards for having THE worst customer service.
Newbold to nick_2k
23 Oct 15 #42
I think you may just have been lucky. Which? does regular checks on telephone/broadband suppliers, and BT are at the bottom of the table. This is what they said, and they're about as impartial as you can get:

BT may be one of the big players in the broadband market, but our latest survey shows that size isn't everything. We surveyed thousands of users to find out what they thought of their internet service provider, and BT customers told us they were disappointed with pretty much every aspect of the service they receive.

I got a similar deal around 18 months ago for Infinity 2, and had no real issues with BT. Our first Homehub did die but they did agree to send us a replacement and that was fine, arrived within a day or so. Installation took place on the agreed date.

I'd say that the service I had from BT was far better than my previous experience with Sky, and unlike Sky (where I was told to expect 13.5Mbit ADSL but actually received 8Mbit), with BT Infinity 2 I was told to expect 56Mbit/s and actually got more - I used to get anywhere from 7.2MB/s to 8.1MB/s when downloading large files (Steam games, e.t.c.)

23 Oct 15 #40
had mine activated yesterday and doesn't work will have to wait till next Tuesday for an engineer and I'll be amazed if they fix it first time. and also I don't relish arguing about anything they may try and charge me.

I joined BT from Sky for my standard copper broadband a week ago. Been a nightmare so far. They tell me they need to test the line, but it seems fine first thing in the morning at 7meg, then as soon as i get back from work it dives to 0.3. So can't watch the BT Tv i signed up for or do anything web related. Tempted to cancel when i get home tonight.

Echo most comments already made.
Avoid this company just not worth the hassle when things go wrong which they often do especially with over complex energy provider style billing which must be direct debit.
Do your research before placing any order

For anyone who wants internet but doesn't have a landline, don't forget things like a T-Mobile modem which can also be carried easily when away from home, giving you internet usage when miles from habitation and any sort of FON use.
I bought mine a couple of years ago from someone called urban storms on ebay, and now it costs me 27 pounds every 6 months for unlimited internet.
I didn't want to pay for a landline installation as I was in rented housing and might move within a year, but needed to have internet for several people at once, so the modem was the cheapest option, and can work anywhere in the uk without worrying about security on public wifi.
I know it's not exactly comparing like with like, but might be a good alternative option for some people, depending on your location and needs.
reddwarf555
23 Oct 15 1 #17
For anyone having problems, don't bother with the off shore contact centre. Ring 150 from your landline and you usually get the UK (if you do get India, redial and ask for cancellations - they'll then refer you on to where you need to go).

I signed up for a similar deal at the start of the month. Got my Sainsbury's voucher yesterday - this doesnt happen automatically you have to visit the claim site and submit the claim yourself. Quidco hasnt tracked correctly for me and its at half the value - this is ongoing. And finally the service , what can I say Ive had the same experience as many others - nothing but trouble. Multiple calls to India where they walk you through the same script over and over , no escalation process and I now have a broadband service that is completely over subscribed - 35mbs during the day and 1-2mbs evenings and weekends.

I took similar deal up in may with pure vise card, no sign of card yet and I had to keep chasing them for my pure visa card because they don't get back to you. All you get is a automated message saying they are investigating and then never here from them again. And the same cycle continues. I'm still without the visa card and they hiked my price just after a month even though I signed up a 12 month contract at certain price. But phone line and bb is good.

How reliable is the Quidco cashback it's a shame the 76Mb broadband is very expensive or would have went for that.
Tangos
23 Oct 15 1 #5
Mine transferred very smoothly no issues, loads of SMSs of updates including time of activation I was already on talktalk fiber though, if your new to fiber they have to send someone to the box on the curb which left me without service for a few days when I moved to talktalk fiber from Sky adsl.
Infinity activation charge is a bit of a sneaky fee, as I would expect this should only be charged if a engineer needs to go to the curb side box.
