Good price but, you'll need to add around £5k of extras to get this up to a decent spec. Once you've done that just go to the BMW used car website and you're likely to find a similar car with a few miles on for around 15% less

Just for awareness, Broadspeed offer good prices, they do ask for their cut of the deal upfront, paid directly to them not the dealer, unlike other brokers (such as Carfile), as well as having to give the dealer a deposit too.

I ordered a car with them, had to pay £1500 upfront to get the deal, and then unfortunately due to issues with my job had to cancel the order, Broadspeed elected to trouser the money, their prerogative of course, but has made me think twice about ever using them again as they'd not really done a huge amount to justify holding on to all that money beyond putting me in touch with a dealer.

It's their business model in fairness, just be sure that you won't need to cancel because you have no comeback if you do.

I only indicate when its useful .. when I see someone who will benefit from the indicators .. I have very keen sense of situational awareness though ...

List prices are very misleading, I got over £12,000 off my 5 series from a main dealer. Also I applied th same logic of I'm getting a brand new car for 1 year old car money but I can say that that it doesn't stack up. Fact is the true value of these cars are the discounted prices in the first place and nowhere near the list. You are much better off getting a demonstrator, but these are awesome cars. Finally adaptive drive/ variable damper control are a must on the 5's and bigger, but on a 3 they're so sorted to start with I doubt you need it.

The cheapest 2014 model on AutoTrader is £27,251 and has 39,546 miles. I'd expect to secure it for around £26,000 (probably dropping to £25,000 by end of year).

That gives an £8,000 drop over 2 years, and 40k miles, from new.

If I bought the 2014 model for £25,000, I'd expect to get around £16,000 for it after 2 years and 40k miles.

That means that depreciation, over 2 years, would cost £8,000 on the new model and £9,000 on the 2-year old model.

Of course, selling the 2-year old model back to a dealer won't result in you achieving the above 'sticker price' of £25,000 - likely to be around 15% less.

However, in my case, I would be buying to hold for the long-term - and I find the idea of owning a brand new car at a lower cost over the first 2 years than the second 2 years quite appealing.

Although buying a 2nd hand car cheaper is nice, it is not the same as having a car from new. Knowing all of its history, knowing it hasn't been thrashed, knowing it hasn't been damaged and repaired.

I've not made any criticisms of BMW on here. I'm sure some of your points are valid, but they would be on a car of this price and people would take that in to consideration. As for getting stuck in traffic, I'm not sure what you mean. Which others car don't? My Golf does so I'd like a car that doesn't ever get stuck in traffic that's definitely worth £35K to me.

You're also comparing a very basic 1 litre city car to a BMW twin turbo diesel with 317bhp. If some one wants that engine and power then your VW Up is entirely useless to them and even if it was £1 it doesn't fit their criteria. You forget that we all don't like the same things and have different buying criteria.

Also, dont forget part of the problem with customer satisfaction surveys is customer expectations. If you go into mcdonalds and they serve you a burger and fries for £5.99 in a cardboard box and of questionable quality, we'll you're probably going to be happy enough as it was cheap and it met your expectations. Spend £50 on a meal somewhere and your expectations are going to be much higher.

Whilst it might have sat nav its not the professional which nearly all BMW demonstrators will have. Most will also have the above options especially the adaptive suspension and the sport automatic transmission. Don't get me wrong this is a cracking deal but, the options are essential when it come to resale value. So if I chose with above spec it would be £36915. So something like this one which has a screen price of £33k can be had for around £30k or less with haggling. How do I know? Well I've been car hunting at the weekend and nearly every dealer I spoke to without much persuasion was knocking nearly 10% off the screen sticker price.

This is true...once, after spending £150 on a meal at a posh restaurant..me and the missus popped in to McDonald's on the way home as we were still hungry!!!

The £10 McDonald's was way more filling and satisfying than the posh meal.

I ended up realising that rich people will pay a premium for they envisage must be better...but the reality is they are just getting conned with heavily overpriced food and wine. The £25 bottle of wine in the restaurant (cheapest on the menu I recall) was a wine you could get for £7 a bottle online.

In some ways you get what you pay for but to me it's a con.

Realistically the "posh" meal IS better, and you're paying for the experience / ambience just as much as for the food itself.

However, my point was, you're likely to be an awful lot more critical on something that you consider you've paid a premium for compared to what you might consider a "bread and butter" (no pun intended) item.

Hence why your skoda owner is more likely to be pleased and satisfied with his car than someone whos bought a top end audi with much the same running gear.

As the car isn't in the dealers yet you're right the description shows no options. However, they are listed under standard equipment at the moment. So sports transmission is listed under standard equipment transmission when it's actually an option.
You'd be surprised of the discounts that are available off the screen price. Remember this deal from Broadspeed will actually come from a BMW dealer. So if they're offering 23% off list on a new build car there is plenty of room for negotiation on used cars as well. Granted not to that amount though.

I wouldn't bother with the upgraded sat nav either. The business edition it comes with is great. I had it on my last 3 series, displays emails/texts on screen (doesn't let you read them when driving, just shows who they are from), Bluetooth audio from your phone. The upgraded version has a wider screen, not worth the extra. I'm surprised some of those extras aren't already included. I had a 320 M Sport convertible as my last car and it had lumbar support, headlight wash, heated seats, split rear seats. Rear view camera sounds great but I have one in my current car and rarely use it. You still need to use your mirrors, it only comes in handy when you want to park an inch away from something which is rare. The big surprise on that list is auto box for only £136, that's definitely worth having.

Someone mentioned service packs think about how long you will own the car, if you're going to have it for 5 years then it's worth it, any less and it's not. I had mine 2 years from new and paid the £300ish for the 5 year service pack (might be more for 3 litre) and only had one service. That service would have been about £170, it added no value when I traded the car in. Selling privately might help but not on a trade in.

I heard a mechanic say the nut behind the wheel can be major problem with these cars, particularly this make.

The car comes as standard with an auto box - its already a v good box, however "sport auto" gives you the paddles behind the steering wheel and possible quicker changes from memory.

Insignia VXR? £2k cheaper from the same place but petrol instead of diesel so likely to have higher running costs. Um... I'm struggling to think of anything else without a 'badge'. Maybe the Ford Mustang but that's no cheaper, also petrol and only had two doors.

I've got a 330d MSport Cabriolet.Fantastic car but recently (2 weeks ago) spent 5 days stuck in Dijon waiting for a rear tyre. Run flats can't be repaired and are very uncomfortable but maybe saved our lives as it as a piece of metal a couple of inches long that caused the blowout on the autoroute. Non run flats mat have just blown up and not allowed us to drive to safety. I'm very disappointed at BMW handling a this car doesn't handle nearly as well as my wife's previous POorsche Cayenne S. I expected better. Does this come with dual clutch? My dealer insisted mine did but it's just paddles on the steering wheel not dual clutch. Buy the 3 year servicing option for peace of mind, cheap as chips. The list for my car was over £48,000 as it was a very highly spiced demo but I paid £33,000 with 6,000 miles. I don't have variable steering but I'm told it's a worthwhile option as I find the steering surprisingly vague for a performance car. Hop this helps. Btw I believe M3 is the only model not on run flats.

No, I purchased from BMW. The local dealership contributed £5000 and BMW £6000. I'm not sure of the actual service pack price as it was included in the deal. I also purchased another with identical spec for my girlfriend (just without the performance kit) and they also discounted that by £7000

Just goes to show how mainstream these cars are now, and what good value they are - I'm trying to get some discount on a new Land Rover Discovery Sport, so far I might get £500 off a £47k car!

Wouldn't bother with a service pack they don't necessarily give the car an oil and filter change at least every year or every 10,000 miles...

Sad really. People choose to spend their money on what they like. Others should respect that. As a single bloke, I spaffed money each month on a nice car. Now I'm settled, my money is better spent into my house with my wife. So I bike to work and she's drives a 56 plate auto with awesome mpg.

Consider the 330D too, marginally higher 0-62 10MPH better fuel economy and 5 groups lower on the insurance.

My mate at work ( BMW Coleshill ) has this car, we can lease them for £275 a month, it is awesome. However I have just purchased a 5 series active hybrid which p*sses all over this, pre-reg, delivery mileage, with a discount of 47%.
Top of the range Msport with Msport plus package and 5 years service inclusive, list OTR £54,000, available for almost half that.

Just be aware that these deals are not that straightforward. You are by no means guaranteed to get this price. Its an aspirational price quoted by Broadspeed, and at best may be a lot less of a discount, and at worst not available at all. Also they are not a cash price, but usually tied into a complax and expensive finance arrangement.

The service pack is definitely worth it. I just had a service at 19k last week, computer telling me next one due in only 4000 miles, paid for itself already I say. So not always massive intervals I suggest.

One to keep an eye on...Alfa Romeo Giulia, though the Quadrifoglio version is running at 70k Euro around £52k and you would have to wait until next year for any other version (as you can tell from my pic I might be abit biased with that one!). Also the Infiniti Q30 or Q50 currently think they are great spec for the money although personally for myself no dealerships anymore in Northern Ireland more or less same car as the Lexus for less money.

The car was £40k but is now £30k, the same as a 1yr old car. In 1 yr the car you buy will be worth say £5-10k less. All this price reduction will do is massively depreciate the car that someone bought a year ago.

Forgot it was the x-drive. I had a 330d estate for three years, until I had to buy an s-max portacabin to fill with dogs and kids. Got left at home once due to snow during those 3 years - best car I've ever owned.

I think Infiniti have yet to find a market here. The dealer near me has dozens of the kind of estate looking car (apologies not certain of the model). Never seen one on the road and looks like there is little to no used market.

Just drove a 2015 BMW 3 series 330D xdrive and can say it was one of the best car I drove.

I bought a 335xd tourer in June 2014 with a similar discount. Drivethedeal were quoting £11K discount and my local dealer beat that and offered £12K discount. I did go overboard with the options but I can honestly say that I have been very happy with it. It has averaged 42mpg from new in mixed use and will do 50mpg on the Motorway and a best of 58mpg. A previous comment questions the gearbox, but I can confirm this is the dual clutch and it is absolutely seamless. I paid for the steering wheel paddles and I wouldn't recommend it. The auto is so good you just won't use it. I have done 30000 miles now and the only thing that went wrong was a stone damaging the radiator at 26K. BMW recovered the car (230 miles) gave me a 5 series hire car and the local dealer replaced the radiator under warranty as a goodwill gesture. I also purchased 4 separate wheels with winter tyres and combined with the XDrive it would embarrass many a 4x4!

Nothing spectacular, always discounted like this. Also note, that these come very poorly equipped. No factory xenons or even nice wheels. Hasn't even got heated seats! Needs another £3k in options at a minimum.

Infiniti don't do an estate, only crossovers and saloons so it was probably a crossover. As far as I'm aware the crossovers all have big 3L engines which is likely why they're unpopular.

The Q50 and Q70 undoubtedly lose some sales from only being available as a saloon rather than a hatchback or estate but otherwise I'm not sure why they're so niche - although I haven't seen one in the flesh.

They've got a new British-built Q30 medium hatchback coming along soon to compete with the A3, Golf, Civic, 1-series, Focus, A-Class etc. I'm sure they'll launch a big advertising campaign when those reach showrooms.

Don't go anywhere near run flat tyres and my 320 sport convertible got 2 cracked alloys took a lot of time and effort to get money off bmw for them, there is a known fault a few years ago don't know if the problem still exists. google cracked alloys.

Wouldn't a new focus rs be a better deal than this, fuel economy would be worse but the focus should be the better drive.

Pass as no dealers in N.Ireland but a quick trawl through Auto Traders website and seems to be some around £32k Demo's with the Hybrid AWD version though they seem to be alot higher spec'd than the BMW's. Much like yourself have never actually seen one in the flesh and personally would prefer a "niche" car than something that everyone else has got. They used to do an estate (only noticed through Autotrader) an FX which is maybe what the other poster has noticed. Guess the power of sponsoring Red Bull F1 does pay off as personally I would never have even looked them up without that advertisement. Real pity no dealerships in N.Ireland as I would really have considered one did look at the "clone" or whatever way round you would like to call it of the Lexus but price wise the Infitinti is much better value. This is one of the things I always hated about BMW's and not to pick on them but some other brands also. I would have presumed for example if you where buying an M-Sport series that M-Sport brakes would have been part of that package. I was online configuring an Audi RS3 the other week and was also amazed that the extras that I would have presumed should have came as standard on the RS variants.

The Infiniti FX, now renamed the GX70, is a crossover or off-roader rather than an estate. It's a fairly low slung and sleek one but it's still closer in height and ground clearance to something like a GLE than a typical estate and comes with four wheel drive as standard.


That's because the base trim is only available in white, so £495 of that price is the metallic paint charge and the rest is the cost to swap from Access to Ambiance trim. Not that £500 for metallic paint isn't a rip-off, but it's a fairly standard one for the UK market.

The mirage is a much slated car so it's not surprising Mitsubishi are doing all they can to sell it.

That's why said I to add the M Sport Plus Package. It includes:
2NH M Sport brakes
– 2PF M Star-spoke style 403 M
– 420 Sun protection glass
– 502 Xenon Headlights
– 522 Headlight wash
– 688 Loudspeaker system – harman/kardon

Which is much cheaper than adding the items individually. In addition to that, and having spent some time with a BMW that has these features, I'd argue that Adaptive Headlights, Electric front seats,Heads-up display and the adaptive headlights, whilst nice to have, are far far from essential. To be fair though the £247 for split folding rear seats is an essential IME.

I am quite impressed that you consider that the brain processing power required to indicate routinely is higher than the brain processing power required to process your keen situational awareness and make an informed decision on wether or not indicating is needed in a specific circumstance.

In my case, I *try* to be aware of my surrounding but I don't consider myself omnipotent so I *try* to use indicators routinely. When doing so routinely, it becomes second nature and require extremely little thought, and if my attempts to be fully and entirely aware of my surrounding were to be not fully successful, then maybe my indicating might help other drivers avoid a accident.

Obviously, omnipotent and omniscient drivers don't need to take such precautions.

Lease a Premium Plus Merc, and you get much more included.
An E350 Premium Plus wouldn't need so many options.

Pretty sure the Focus RS has suit compatible seats; most cars do.

I have just brought my 1st BMW 320d Touring, and if that is anything to go by this car is very special!

There's still some cars where aircon and a stereo are optional extras.

Clearly it would be a 335d, not a Merc.

Love BMWs (own a 1 series coupe) but I cant get over the Rep-mobile image of a 3/5 series. Having said that, you'd soon leave people in your wake with that engine and deal with bad weather with less drama than in a C or E class Merc.

Voted hot as it's a cracking discount that you can use to negotiate a PCP with if you don't have 30k tucked away. Also disagree that you NEED 5k worth of options, the car comes with the essentials and a bit more than a standard 3.

I can afford this car - I could even buy it cash. Will I? Nope. Do I think Audi drivers are aggressive and cannot drive well? Yes. So, it's not jealousy about not being able to have one at all. Of course, when an Audi driver gets some abuse for cutting someone up or not indicating, they'll think it's jealousy out of a misplaced sense of superiority. BMW indicators are a pain to use, I only use them when I have to. Past the pressue point on the stalk, its a chore to turn them off without turning on the other indicator, if they don't go off automatically that is.

You'd need at least £3000 worth of extras on this. I'm not sure I'd buy a BMW diesel, better to go for Mercedes if you want diesel.

Err Audi has tried to encompass too much in their range and haven't focused enough on the target market, they're almost the new generation of beetles/Porsches, why do they all look the same.

Mercedes has tried to include too many options as standard and from first hand experience, sacrificed on build quality (not visible, electronics and parts - I had a e350 AMG 14 plate, with 1400 on the clock, and ONE little cable behind accelerator pedal in wiring loom got chewed up, and his caused all sorts of malfunctions, where the car wouldn't start. Sorry if I held you up that day :smiley: broke down in traffic, locked in park gear because they are now electric gear shifters :smiley: and had to jack up the back using a trolley to get it off the road. Then, I've had a 64 plate c200 premium plus as mentioned above somewhere, this time with 14k on clock, with more than just standard options, adaptive cruise control, perfume dispenser, Adapatice lights which are the best across any brand in opinion as they have about 6 individual lights on each lamp allowing you to make a box around cars in front of you ( absolutely love this) with the burmester sound system and much more, however this has a quality control valve (wtf?) failure and car kept going in limp mode. Again under maintenance, they sent an engineer to my doorstep for 4 hours to diagnose vehicle to tell me it needs to go in to dealership. They told me the connection wasn't good, and they "bettered" it. Drove home, and same problem again. Booked back in they replaced the part and I even managed to catch the guy saying I was stupid for not leaving it with them for an extra day for observation (had to drive to Europe) maybe I should have complained :/ lol in any case Merc equals ****. Unless your paying over 70/80k. Have a 2006 Sl500 that's on 160k now, very well looked after and bar the common stuff no major issues, PSE pump is a bitch when it does go and it goes quite often, water in boot is not a good thing for those lol.

BMW on the other hand is bloody amazing :smile: . Of course you will have problems, that's a case of manufacturing and production defects. Everyone in the world has a percentage they will allow, but let's not dive in to why statistics are used to allow faulty parts that could potentially kill someone? Recall time anyone. But BMW have the sporty line up, bar the old peoples cars (2 series grand tourer, I mean really..?) 3 series is phenomenal. And the 3.0 litre engine they have has been in use for such a longtime because it is a powerhouse and runs like a train. Twin turbos did have common failure problems since the 10 plate models. Not sure if they have fixed that. Best 3 series BMW to get for reliability, 330i or diesel, I just like petrol :smiley: if you really need more power, remap, with upgraded suspension brakes and clutch/flywheel, unless your a chav and you only remap it, and wrap it around a lamp post.

Focus RS is surely young at heart? with Bmw being a bit more middle aged at heart.

well im 23 and had my Audi A4 for 6 months now and indicate every time its needed as im always worrying about someone going into the back of me.

23, full uk licence for 6 years and havent had a single point on my licence nor have i had any bumps in the slightest.

My Touring is a 2011 plate ,and the exhaust is lot bigger so I guess it as been replaced long the line,but size is not everything!

However if you finance the difference will be massive, BMW new car APR is considerably lower than their used car. I bought a new 530d instead of a used 535d purely due to cost of finance. I do wish I had bought a 535d though. And yes I use indicators when they will be of benefit to other road users, as the Roadcraft manual stipulates.

I like BMWs and everyone says they have good engines but are they not a bit skittish in winter? I live in Perthshire and while we don't get snow every year, I normally do skiing/winter hiking. The rear wheel brigade seem to constantly get stuck. I have a Skoda Scout and it's allot cheaper than this. It's very slow and very efficient in the Skoda Car Lot, but this seems to disengage about 20 yards from their doda machine, then warp drive comes back on line and it goes anywhere. Now the BMWs do pull away from my Scout, but not by that much. My mate has a Merc...he put on the Winter Tires and said they help, but seems like a bit of a fiddle. The only rear wheel drive I have ever driven was a Lotus Carlton and it was allot of fun in the dry and the wet...but I think it was useless on snow.

I don't think there is. But accelerating in a careless / dangerous / furious manner is covered under the various Road Traffic Offenses. Eg, if you accelerated as you passed a horse on the road, you know that this could startle the horse and cause injury to the rider, or if you accelerate aggressively in a small village.

Don't disagree but the comment I was reply to was in relation to having this car in the UK. Your comment on horses would apply in any country. The counter argument being that good acceleration when used correctly can also make overtaking safer!

Or accelerate into trouble/the next life!

That would depend on the deposit amount but if we assume zero in the pcp monthly payments will be around £450-£500 at a guess. I previously bought a BMW around this value and that was the approximate monthly payment. I think it works out roughly for every £1000 you put in up front it reduces the monthly payment by about £25.
There is a bit of a myth with deals like this that because its such a good discount on the list price people think they might beat the depreciation. Trouble is this deal is available in many places and no-one will be paying the list price so trade in values will reflect this.

Not so cheap when you start adding the extras that you would expect to get when spending this kind of money!

I can lease one for under 300 per month and I'm considering the options. Coming from a 3 litre Subaru Legacy Bilstein I might want to pep the BMW up a little bit with some suspension enhancements which is not possible on a lease car.

Just ordered this through my local dealer for a marginally better price than broadspeed. Worth printing out from broadspeed and taking to local dealer to match & haggle a bit more on optional extras.

IMO - a £40K standard car without heated seats and folding mirrors is a joke!!

I spec'd the car quite highly but the base price was slightly better than that of broadspeed. Plus the extra's were discounted

I just hired the 330 petrol version, M sport with auto box. Was an upgrade on a 320 diesel.

Deary me. Took me two nights to work out how the keyless thingy worked, the engine cuts out to save fuel when you stop at traffic; me no likey. Steering not too hot without sports mode engaged. Visibility not great for reversing but has a sensor. Rapid though! Nice and comfortable on the motorway and lots of gadgets.

I can't afford one but would buy if I could!

Old thread but I just leased the touring version of this in Estoril blue. 0-62 in 4.7 seconds and get over 40mpg. It's crazy. Got it on 10k miles three payments down and then 23 payments over 24 months. 370 a month it's costing. A smidgeon over 4k a year for this beast will probably beat the depreciation on picking it up at 32-33 grand (the touring is a bit more expensive than this saloon).
