At least the guy had got socks on with shoes, not like some of the ridiculous sights mooching around of late.

Check the clearance section. Got a pair of black leather brogues for £12 not too long ago.

If you've had "a few pairs" then you'd be better off buying something decent. Check out John Lewis, HoF, Debenhams, they've all got sales on - grab a pair of cheap Loakes - then enjoy them for 15 years and never buy another pair!

that is so true. I recently bought a pair off asos as it was hukd and looked decent but the shoes are the most uncomfortable pair ! spend a bit more to get quality

True but... if you work in a pretty hands on job as I do I find that even expensive shoes get destroyed within a short period of time as the upper gets battered and sliced up. For office jobs and leisure go with quality or else just buy cheap and often.

If you want bargain shoes try brantano, they have a website http://www.brantano.co.uk.
I prefer going to their stores as all shoes vary slightly in fit and it is best to try shoes on first rather than buying a size blind. Also Brantano always have a sale on in their stores , which are usually more cheap than the website, for one left in that design. So it is worth popping regularlly to see what has been reduced further that week.
As to buying expensive shoes to last milarky , allshoes wear out, especially on the soles and heals. Years ago you put Blakeys on your self ( can you still buy them ?) but they dont bode well for modern polished floors!
If you take your expensive shoes to the cobblers, they want around £18 to resole and re heal them. For that price you can buy another pair of shoes.
