Nope, very easy to spend , £40, 45, 50, 25, £40, £40, £0, £80, if you need help to spend £40, upload your scans to a file sharing web site your last ten shopping bills at a large supermarket, post here this link and I am sure others would advise you how to spend £40.
Not at all, they have pulled beef half price this weekend. £1.47,amazing price and quality I could get a whole stack of them, plus their fruit and veg is normally better quality than the big names.

Hi Will. I went into Lidl for the first time the other day. Apart from thinking the place was a dump, I was confused by what I saw. The majority of stuff is unfamiliar, and a lot of it looks to be low quality. My question would be is any of this stuff any good, and without personally testing it all, how would I find out? So yes, I have no idea how I would spend £40 in there
splender to Meteoor
29 Oct 152#46
Do some scans of your shopping receipts to a file sharing web sites and post its link here, people may wish to advise you. What I buy there is cheese, meat, fish, tinned sardines, pasta sauce, sweets, bread and bakery, tea, oil, olive oil, cooked meat, yoghurt, wines, peanuts, washing powder, shampoo, etc. very easy to spend £40 , however if you are not familiar, just ask in the shop other customers why they like, and have a look to see what get put into shopping baskets by others.

Just because it is unfamiliar does not mean it is low quality . I can't tell the difference between their crisps and walkers . Some of their stuff is excellent . I managed to spend £185 there the other day but that did include two mattresses

29 Oct 15#51
hahaha really so you missed the cheap brand name products then? As for unfamiliar well a tin of beans looks surprisingly like a tin of beans. Don't really get it they sell all the same stuff as any supermarket but most of their brands are their own or German but as for quality many of those brands have been tested by which and many lidl & Aldi products beat the brands completely.
As for it being a dump guess depends on the area but they do sell a lot of stuff off pallets but I'll tell you what, I have NEVER struggled to get my shopping done because there's 3 pallets down each Isle or staff with cages everywhere so horses for courses

Despite some of the posts here some of their products are very low quality but you get to learn what is good and bad. They don't do own brand labelling but instead make up a lot of fake brands but I would say for much of the processed food many of the own brand budget labels from other supermarkets represent better quality and can be considerably cheaper than Lidl. The so called bakery in Lidl's is just a parbaked oven where half baked bread with extra chemicals added is then frozen and the last stage is finished in the oven in each Lidl store. This bread smells nice but not as nice as genuine instore bakeries and seems to have shorter life. Vegetables and fruit mostly don't have best before or use by dates so can be hard to work out how fresh products are. Often they already look less fresh anyway so consequently don't last as long. However there are also many good quality products at very competitive prices too. Like any shop look for the genuine offers and find the products that represent acceptable quality for you. Despite the limited range in Lidl I've found more products of unacceptable quality to me than any other supermarket. However I think they are a great source of unprocessed food generally fruit, veg and meat and you get many products that you simply don't see elsewhere from the continent. Also the weekly offers, power tools etc can be great value.
I'm not loyal to any supermarket and basically use them all at different times so feel I can get give a fair opinion.

You've said nothing bad about the place, not very impartial. There are some good things about Lidl but there's also lots of bad things. Many of their products are not much better, or even worse than the value lines in many supermarkets in my opinion and there's a distinct lack of choice in Lidl, as you're almost forced to buy their brands. I find the idea of putting some fancy label on a value range product quite deceptive and dishonest.
They like to make out that they're a lot different from the major supermarkets but they're up to all the same dirty tricks. Look what they did with that Batts branding. They changed the branding on some of their products, three times in a short space of time. I suspect this is because they bought the Batts brand and used it to try and increase sales. To me that sounds like a gross waste of money, it's the same product.... They also love to take a penny or two off a product, change the colour of the label and make it look like it's a great deal. And even though they've adopted the living wage, they're notorious for overworking people. I thought Tesco's was bad but Lidl is on another level.

Apart from Lidl's fantastic products, which I love, my absolute favourite thing about it is how quickly I can be in there, do my shopping, and get out of there. Mainly, other people are getting on with too. Drives me mad that people would want to idle away their free time gazing at 1700 options of cornflakes, 3000 types of milk, slowing me down in the process. but yes, we've been brainwashed into thinking we need that amount of choice. When I do nip into one of the big 4, I'm amazed at the slow pace of everything. It doesn't even matter if a till has a long queue at Lidl, you're through it in no time.

agree with this post, some lidl stuff is great, some lidl stuff I stay well away from but same at any store, you just need to try stuff out and see what works for you. Eg the own brand coffee and anti-bac spray are not so great, the own brand crisps and cheese are great value etc. Yes the veg definitely doesn't last as long, but tastes fine and surely if we find veg from big supermarkets lasts a long time this is something to be suspicious of?

There are the usual of negative comments about Lidl and Aldi, I find as an ex inspector, both shops are good to reasonable quality in general in relation to the prices but obviously many items are not premium brands or premium priced quality. It leads me to conclude either these complainants are either jokers, some genuine customers or agents employed by public opinion agents whose job they are to improve the image of big supermarket brands on social network forums and to bad mouth competitors. They fake posts, reviews and false logic.
