Just visited my local sainsbury's for a parcel drop off for myhermes, which they only recently have launched and not much publicised for some reason.
As I wasnt spending anything - and only just dropping off the parcel, I did not hand my nectar card but to my surprise advisor asked me for the nectar as apparently each parcel drop off earns you 25 bonus point.
I tried finding on internet everywhere, cant find any news on it either on nectarcard website or on myhermes, so thought I will share here. Apologies if this has been duplicated.
So coming up to christmas if you are happen to use myhermes and dropping off at sainsbury's it might be worth handling the nectarcard out.

Only had one problem with Hermes. A buyer said they hadn't received their item and tried to do a charge back, even though Hermes had a signature as proof of delivery. Paypal sided with me thankfully, but this guy was still claiming non-delivery. So either the driver nicked it (was a DSLR) or the buyer was pulling a fast one. Hermes didn't seem concerned that one of the drivers may be a thief!

I wonder why RM have people jumping through hoops to claim for lost items now, hmmm could it be because of all the false claims people used to put in years ago.
I knew an Ebayer who used to file false claims week in week out with RM ,the dodgy people like that are the cause of why RM want allsorts of info before paying out these days.
It comes back to bite everybody on the ass when people are always looking at a way to get free money

What a wonderful member of society you must be to be calling me out for doing the right thing, and labelling me a goody two shoes as if that is a bad thing.
The example you point to is completely different to what you are suggesting. With the antique dealer, he was arguing about the interpretation of the terminology "market value". You are simply stating that you should use the receipt of a different item for the purposes of inflating the proven value.
So please refrain from telling me I'm wrong when, quite clearly, in text, on a public forum, you have suggested a means of defrauding a process you feel doesn't serve to your advantage. We all know that insurance premiums are where they are to cover fraudulent activity as much as the incidents / products they are there to cover. This is no different. The cost of insurance fraud in 2013? £1.3bn.... We are covering that. That is £1,300,000,000 a year. Paid for by you, me and everyone else to cover all those little scams and untruths.
In your own terminology, feel free to keep being a deceiving scumbag and ripping off everyone else.

As it happens I havent actually tried what I proposed above but if I did I would do so with a clear conscience
- you would need agreement from the buyer to do it as the royal mail can send them letters for them to sign
so its not a risk free enterprise
Royal Mail are defrauding *us* by not paying out for the saleable value of the item
- in fact they dont pay out at all if you only have the ebay/paypal receipts & not an original
proof of purchase - if you dont see that sort of behaviour as a legitimate reason to retaliate
in kind thats your perogative
Feel free to keep on being a goody two shoes & letting Royal mail rip you off though

Have had 3 items delivered from MyHermes in the last 24 hours. All were left outside the door...even tho' we were here and one of them was garden bench. I always Parcelforce or UPS....probably not always perfect but certainly better than most.

I don't think they're shoddy, I know they are. A basic Google search will testify that. Just pointing out that you don't know what you're talking about and are clearly out of your depth but I don't have to resort to insults unlike the less educated you.

Check out these customer reviews. This company should cease trading. I had an absolutely horrific experience which should have resulted with criminal charges against their driver. https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.hermes.co.uk

but if you look at any large company they all have terrible reviews - customers with poor experiences are always more likely to leave to leave a review than those who have had no problems
I have sent several hundred parcels and had 2 not be delivered and both times their compensation was fast and easy. Unlike Royal Mail who make it a real pain to claim hoping you don't bother.

We've used MYhermes for over a year. Nearly 1100 parcels and we've had problems with about 5 or 6.
Each time they paid out the compensation without a problem, except for one parcel which we missed the 21 day deadline.
DO NOT contact them via webchat or email for a parcel problem. They will give you the standard 48hr response.
Instead call them on 0330 333 6556. The UK call centre can then phone the driver/local depot to get a quicker answer.

I don't have time to weigh every single parcel, they've said its been .1 or .2 over but for all I know they're making it up. They're a shoddy company but unfortunately they're the cheapest so I use them to keep costs down. There's no fraud involved as its a civil matter anyway, please check your facts before you bandy silly legal phrases about.

various reasons to choose myhermes.
under 1 kg parcel for £2.60 tracked and componsation for upto £25.
like me if you sell small bits on ebay, paying hefty charges for tracked and compensated delivery, on top of ebay and paypla fees, you will hardly get anything.
So far I have sent about 20 items, none gone missing, all on ebay with Quick Delivery review, like many said there will always be someone in any courier company that dont give a damn!!
so this is a deal for people who wishes to use myhermes  and wants to benefit for extra nectar points - specially if you are sending many packages anyway.

IIRC hermes drivers are self emplyed & get paid under 50p per parcel & dont get extra for return trips - the 50p includes their costs such as petrol & vehicle maintenance
thats why they will do anything they can with the parcel that avoids a repeat visit eg put it in a rubbish bin, leave it in an insecure place, lob it over a fence etc ...
I often try to warn my ebay buyers about this so they know what to expect

21 Oct 15#30
this rule about paying you only your bought for cost isnt right or fair
its maybe OK for items you can get more of easily at the same buy in price but isnt fair for one off items that cannot be sourced again
since they are being such a bunch of **** best thing to do is play them at their own game & say you sent something a lot more expensive that you still have a receipt for - dont mention ebay at all - just say it was sent to a friend as a gift
IIRC some guy took royal mail to court about this & won but RM didnt change their rules as they know virtually nobody can be bothered to take them to court again

Whilst My Hermes is not without fault, I do think people need to package items a bit better. If you are sending something breakable then pack it with the idea it will most likely be thrown both onto and off a van multiple times ..possibly dropped and almost always manhandled as they try to get as many parcels thru their system as possible.
I tend to find people pay £2 for delivery and then package it in a flimsy box and put "fragile' on it...like the warehouse/driver staff will even take notice - many won't even speak English.
I've sent about 100 parcels through My Hermes and only had issues twice. On both occasions I was able to claim.

That's a great offer but My Hermes delivery is really hit and miss. Even if you mark an item as Fragile it is still likely to be delivered with a dirty footprint on it. If My Hermes had a facilty on their web site where customers could enter a review againt a postcode area then maybe the service would improve and we would be able to see the service that we would be likely to get!

You'd need to pay me a lot more than 25 nectar points to use Hermes again. Last thing I had delivered by them was smashed into about a million pieces. Ordered a replacement - from a totally different source (while I waited for India to sort out the compensation for their first fail). They also used Hermes (total co-incidence). Arrived home from work to find a (large) parcel from Hermes, with a big sticker on it saying "DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED" dumped outside my front door. In plain view. Unattended. Anything of any value, DPD or don't bother as far as I'm concerned.

Did they lose it though,a lot of times the item has been delivered and the tracking still says it's in the system but most likely the person has the item, just the tracking doesn't reflect this,so it's an easy scam for a dodgy Ebayer.
Intothewhite
21 Oct 15#13
Nope. I only sent stuff with RM 2nd class signed for. RM lost it . Which means a ball aching refund claim process where they try everything possible to pay out what the item cost you, only if you have a receipt, and not what it's worth. As i re-sell 2nd hand goods bought at auction/car boots etc for very small amounts on ebay , this is usually a problem.
